Holiday for Heroes 8 effort seeking assistance from Cape community
The city of Cape Coral is asking the community to assist this year in the Holiday for Heroes effort organized for the eighth year by Jonette & Peter Kessack with Sip & Send in Cape Coral. The city has been a key participant in this annual drive to collect various sundry items for our soldiers serving overseas. Last year, thanks to the community and city employees, the Keesacks were able to exceed their goal and ship more than 400 holiday boxes to a unit in Afghanistan.
This year, the Keesacks will be coordinating the shipment through two Army chaplains in two locations Chaplain Shan-non in Afghanistan and Chaplain Kenyon in Iraq. The chaplains will be taking the holiday boxes into the field and delivering them to our troops serving in isolated areas. The goal is to collect enough contributions to fill 400 boxes once again. Because of a tight timeline, there are only two weeks available to collect all of the items. That is why help from the community is needed. The city has a collection bin at City Hall in the main lobby area. Collection bins also will be available at each city fire station. The public can drop off their items at any of these locations or at Sip & Send at 2517 Santa Barbara Blvd.
– Fire Station #1 – 4610 Coronado Parkway,
– Fire Station #2 – 701 Nicholas Parkway
– Fire Station #3 – 1627 Everest Parkway

– Fire Station #8 – 707 SW 1st St.

These holiday packages mean a great deal to our servicemen and women who are spending Christmas overseas. It is a simple way to show support for the soldiers, and the city appreciates the participation of Cape citizens.
