Sounds of Jazz & Blues: Concert Saturday at Westin Cape Coral Resort
The 24th annual Sounds of Jazz & Blues will fill the air with music on Saturday in Cape Coral.
Organized by Cape Coral’s Parks and Recreation Department, the event will take place from 5:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. at The Westin Cape Coral Resort at Marina Village. The gates will open at 5 p.m.
“We do country, we do rock ‘n’ roll – jazz just seems like another genre of music we enjoy providing to our community,” Todd King, a spokesman for the city’s Parks and Recreation Department, said.
The festival kicks off with Groove Therapy, a smooth jazz band out of Gainesville, at 5:30 p.m. Blues performer Damon Fowler will play at 7 p.m., followed by headliner Richard Elliot at 8:30 p.m.
Food and drinks will be available for purchase.
Attendees are welcome to bring chairs, blankets and small backpacks with food.
“All beverages have to be purchased on site,” he said.
Coolers are not permitted.
Last year, an estimated 3,000 people turned out for the event.
“We always look for a little growth,” King said of this year’s expectations.
“The weather’s looking perfect,” he added.
Parking will be throughout the Westin, with trolleys taking people to the concert gate.
“All parking is free,” King said.
Advance tickets cost $25 and are still available today. They can be purchased by stopping by Cape Coral City Hall or by calling the office at (239) 573-3128 and having them held at will call.
Tickets at the gate will cost $30.
Organizers encourage the public to come out to the festival.
“It’s a cultural experience, and they can learn a little about the music,” he said.
