1 min read

In a salute to the more than 30 years of service given by Mary Gibbs, retiring director of Lee County’s Department of Community Development, there will be a public reception at 9 a.m., Tuesday, May 5, at the first-floor lobby of the Old Courthouse, 2120 Main St., Fort Myers. Lee County Commissioners also will recognize her at their regularly scheduled 9:30 a.m. meeting.

Gibbs leaves, as a legacy, an innovative and service-oriented department. Under her leadership, the department is now distinguished by electronic permitting and record-keeping systems, and streamlining of application and review processes for planning, zoning and permitting.

Gibbs is a nationally certified planner, a member of the American Institute of Certified Planners since 1982 and a member of the American Planning Association since 1980. She is a past president and treasurer of the Florida Planning and Zoning Association and a frequent speaker at professional conferences.
