Body of missing swimmer recovered from Gulf waters off Upper Captiva

The identity of a man whose body was recovered from the Gulf waters off Upper Captiva Friday afternoon has been released.

The body of Vincent Anzalone, 65, of Shreveport, Louisiana, was located by emergency personnel after he was reported missing while swimming west of 748 Gulf Lane, officials said in a release issued Saturday.

The search began after deputies were called shortly after 4 p.m. Law enforcement and fire department units located Anzalone in the water but he was unresponsive. Personnel with the Upper Captiva Fire Department took him to shore. He was declared deceased.

An autopsy is pending to determine cause of death, officials said, adding the investigation is on-going.
