Two vehicles damaged in early-morning fire
Early Wednesday morning, at 12:55, Cape Coral Fire Department’s Squad 8 and Battalion 2 responded to a two vehicle fire in a driveway on the 600 block of Tropicana Parkway, W. The fire was quickly extinguished and did not spread to any homes. There were no injuries.
According to a report from the CCFD, a department fire inspector investigated the fire and determined the cause to be incendiary, meaning that it was “deliberately ignited under circumstances in which the person knows that the fire should not be ignited.”
The report indicates a portable heat source was used to start the fire, which began on the rear exterior of each vehicle. Damage to both vehicles combined is estimated at $30,000.
Due to the suspicious nature of the fire, the State Fire Marshal is investigating.
