A body believed to be that of a missing Fort Myers Shore woman was found by the Lee County Dive team Monday after they pulled her Dodge Stratus from the Caloosahatchee River near the State Road 31 Bridge.
Members of the Dive Team observed a large mass submerged in the river while searching for Chelsey Green, 25, who has been missing since early Friday morning, the Sheriff’s Office said in a release issued Tuesday.
The white Dodge Stratus matched the car Green was reported to be driving, officials said, adding a female body was in the car.
“The human remains were turned over to the Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy and proper identification,” the release states.
Her family has been asking for help in locating Green since she did not come home.
According to a photo and text montage placed on social media and shared on Facebook, Green left a friend’s house just a few blocks from her own.
Her brother later received a “cryptic text (that) has her family fearing the worst,” the poster states.
At 3:30 a.m. her brother received a GPS notification.
“The GPS location put Green right near the State Road 31 bridge,” the poster states.
A update post added after the vehicle was found Monday states the family has been notified the person found is Green.
