Council corrects fee schedules error
In an abbreviated special Cape Coral City Council meeting Monday night, the seven members in attendance unanimously approved corrections to three resolutions that were previously approved.
The resolutions concerned the assessments for the city’s fire services, vacant lot mowing and stormwater rates. The amounts for those assessments were previously approved, but a change in software caused about 450 property owners to be sent notices with a lower amount than intended. When discovered, those owners were sent corrected notices.
None of the 450 affected by the error appeared before council to voice any concerns at Monday’s public hearings.
The corrections approved Monday dealt only with those 450 property owners’ bills and ratified the tax roll figures due in the Tax Collector’s Office Tuesday.
Mayor Marni Sawicki was granted an excused absence because she was out of town.
Council has scheduled two meetings next Monday, a regular council meeting starting at 4:30 p.m. in Council Chambers to be followed by a special meeting to give final approval on the Fiscal Year 2016 operating budget.
