Fee level referendums on Monday’s council agenda
Cape Coral City Council continues its process of finalizing the city’s Fiscal Year 2016 operating budget at Monday’s special meeting in Council Chambers when it is expected to approve three resolutions setting assessment rates.
At its Aug. 24 meeting, council approved the assessment rates for the Fire Service Assessment, lot mowing and stormwater rates. However, a recent transition in software formatting created a change in the notice files. City staff discovered it mailed out notices to property owners which contained a small group of notices with a lower amount than was intended. Approximately 450 property owners are affected.
Those owners were mailed a notice advising them of the corrected amounts along with the date and time of Monday’s public hearings, which also will ratify and confirm the assessment rolls.
The three resolutions before council Monday are necessary to allow affected property owners to be heard regarding the corrected amounts.
The final budget hearing will be Monday, Sept. 21, at 5:05 p.m., following the regular Council meeting. City Hall is at1015 Cultural Park Blvd
The first public hearing was held Thursday evening. The story may be found online at cape-coral-daily-breeze.com
