Cape municipal election is Tuesday
With early voting wrapping up this weekend, the primary election is set for Tuesday.
Early voting kicked off Monday and will continue through Saturday.
A total of four polling sites in Cape Coral and Fort Myers have been open daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Those who decide to take advantage of early voting may visit any of the four polling locations.
As of Thursday afternoon, the Lee County Elections Office had received about 11,000 mail ballots from the precincts in the Cape. Including Fort Myers, a total of almost 15,000 had been returned.
Fort Myers also has a municipal election going on.
The Lee County Elections Office reported on its website that nearly 1,000 people had turned out for early voting as of Thursday afternoon, with more than 800 of those voters from Cape precincts.
One provisional ballot had also been received as of Thursday afternoon.
Voters who want to cast a ballot early should bring their photo identification with signature.
Officials previously noted that mail ballots must be received at the main office by 7 p.m. Tuesday, Election Day. Voters simply need to fill it out and drop it in the mail; no return postage is necessary.
People should ensure that they sign the envelope for their mail ballot, officials have warned. The signature must also match their Voter ID?card or their driver’s license, depending on how they registered.
On Election Day, the polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Those who need to locate their polling site can contact the Lee County Elections Office or visit the website. Those looking for their precinct, or in need of an address change, should do so immediately.
Again, voters will need their photo identification with signature.
According to officials, those who received a mail ballot can still vote in person on Election Day. They simply bring their entire packet – ballot and envelope – with them to surrender to poll workers
Cape Coral City Council races are non-partisan, citywide elections, meaning all voters may cast a ballot in each race, no matter their registered party affiliation or the district in which they live.
