‘Catch the Vision’: Pending projects to be spotlighted

3 min read

Real estate values and new construction projects continue to increase, new business startups and relocations also are on the rise making for a very interesting presentation for the 5th annual Catch The Vision Cape Coral event next week.

“What’s new and different?” said Economic Development Director Dana Brunett. “Come on out and find out.”

Catch the Vision kicks off at 5 p.m. on Tuesday with a trade show showcase at Cape Christian Fellowship Park, 2110 Chiquita Blvd. An assortment of familiar local vendors will feature their businesses and registering guests for prizes.

At about 6:30 the first of many presentations begins. These presentations are specific to projects currently under way or set to begin soon.

“We’ll talk about the new restaurants,” said Brunett. “South Cape is doing very well and there are the new craft breweries, and new sports bars like Duffy’s and Overtime.”

The new Walmart Neighborhood Market is under construction in a plaza on Pine Island Road at Hibiscus. The city recently approved an incentive program for MobileMax Technologies, based in Taiwan, to launch its expansion into the U.S. market from Cape Coral.

“We’re pushing for the higher paying jobs, like MobileMax,” said Brunett. “We want more of those for our residents. We want to keep people from going over the bridges to work. We want them to stay here with the right opportunities.”

MobileMax, which manufactures GPS equipment, cell phones and other high-tech devices, will focus its Cape Coral startup on its GPS product. A successful startup will lead the company to build a manufacturing facility here in a few years and create more than 200 jobs.

“Manufacturing globally is down,” said Brunett. “But we see a lot of construction, residential and commercial, in the Cape and that’s always a good sign.”

Brunett also mentioned the Seven Islands development process in northwest Cape Coral, Bimini Basin and Village Square as the coming major projects.

New projects are known to bring higher paying jobs, create tourism opportunities, add value to local businesses, and helps diversity the city’s tax base.

“I look forward to the presentations and the city moving forward,” said CCCIA Executive Director Bill Johnson. “We are not making a presentation, but I will be there to see what’s new coming to town.”

Tickets to attend the event are $10 and are available in advance online or over the phone. A portion of the ticket proceeds will be donated to the Cape Coral Caring Center again this year for Thanksgiving dinners to help Cape Coral families.
