Community Thanksgiving Dinner Sunday at Yacht Club

3 min read

Veterans, public safety personnel and the public are invited to a free meal this weekend.

The RE/MAX Realty Team and Invest in America’s Veterans Foundation have partnered up to host a Community Thanksgiving Dinner on Sunday from 1-5 p.m. in the ballroom at the Cape Coral Yacht Club. The event will feature a traditional holiday dinner of turkey and ham, with all of the trimmings.

Michael Hollow of the RE/MAX Realty Team explained that it is the first time for the dinner.

“This is our way of being able to given back to the community and to try and bring the community together as one,” he said, attributing RE/MAX’s success to its local businesses and residents.

Along with the meats, the trimmings will include stuffing, green bean casserole, yams and cranberry sauce, as well as biscuits and gravy. There will be cheesecake, pies, cookies, brownies and more.

“All of the desserts are going to be homemade,” Hollow said.

The RE/MAX Realty Team and its families are volunteering their time to help serve.

“Our goal is to serve 700 members of the community,” he said.

Food will be served on a first come, first served basis until it is all gone.

“We’ve planned for about 700 people,” Hollow said. “So come early, don’t wait.”

During the dinner, the Invest in America’s Veterans Foundation will have a couple of paintings on display. It is currently hosting an auction for the artwork at the Southwest Florida Military Museum.

“All of the painting have been created by military veterans,” he said.

The museum’s mobile bus will also be on hand.

“So we’ll have a couple other little things going on,” Hollow said.

While the dinner is open to the public, it is specifically aimed at veterans, public safety personnel, senior citizens and families in need. The event was also coordinated with Veterans Day in mind.

“I wanted to kick the holiday season off a little bit early,” he said.

“We wanted to open the doors to them,” Hollow added.

He encouraged all to come out, share a meal and enjoy each other’s company.

“This is an opportunity for everyone to come together as one community,” he said.
