Audubon Urban Birding walk Dec. 27 at Four Mile Cove Ecological Preserve
Audubon of Southwest Florida will hold an Urban Birding walk, held in memory of Roger Clark, at 8 a.m., Sunday, Dec. 27 at Four Mile Cove Ecological Preserve.
At 365 acres, Four Mile Cove Ecological Preserve is the second largest preserved green space in Cape Coral. Located just north of Veteran’s Parkway, Four Mile Cove / “Eco Park” is a brackish water wetland area that features a walking trail, visitor center, and a Veterans Memorial Area.
Visitors of any age can walk through the preserve on the boardwalk. Possible wildlife sightings include eagles, ibis, herons, other wading and migratory birds, raccoons, snakes, etc. Be sure to stop at the visitor’s center for information on programs, local wildlife, trail guides and the “last chance to use the facilities.”
You’ll want to bring your camera, field glasses, sunscreen, and water. Dress appropriately for the weather. There is a short walk from the parking area.
Meet at the east end of Southeast 23 Terrace, Cape Coral, just north of Veterans Parkway near the Midpoint Bridge. The leader will be Jim Rodenfels
Audubon welcomes members and non-members, beginner to advanced birders. This is a free event (a $5 donation would be appreciated). Parking is free.
