Bike Night Saturday; three stages and the Georgia Satellites
Bike Night celebrations in the month of December near Christmas tends to take on a holiday theme as attendees show up in costume.
“There is no organized appearance by Santa Claus, but there likely will be more than a few Santas rolling around on Harleys,” said Cape Coral Parks & Recreation special events coordinator Todd King.
The traditional December Bike Night takes over South Cape on Saturday (5-10 p.m.) on Southeast 47th Terrace between Vincennes Boulevard and Coronado Parkway for the second of the season’s four scheduled bimonthly gatherings.
“For the first time we will have three stages set up,” said King. “We’re expecting a large turnout because we have two national acts going on that night and we think everyone will be excited about that.”
The main Bike Night stage at 8th Court will open with Mike Imbasciani warming up the crowd for the notable Bite The Bullet show that follows. Drowning Pool will rock the night away on a second stage behind Nevermind. The third stage near Dixie Roadhouse features the country music fare from Georgia Satellites. Tickets to hear Georgia Satellites are a mere $5.
“I understand that the national acts have been going over real well,” said King. “For the low ticket price, we think people will really enjoy that. We’ll probably continue the trend of national performers at future Bike Nights.”
Bike Nights are organized each year for the second Saturday in October, December, February and April.
Familiar Bike Night activities continue this weekend with slow bike races and other biker games to be enjoyed by those on motorcycles or just spectating. Race winners receive a $100 gift card to Six Bends Harley-Davidson of Fort Myers. Registration for the slow bike races, a ride/balance competition where the last bike to cross the finish line wins, runs 5-7:30 p.m. Men and women compete in separate races tournament style starting at 7:30.
Of course, more than 100 vendors will be peddling their various biker paraphernalia, jackets, clothing, products and gear with food and beverage items available. As always, admission is free and open to the public.
