ReptiDay comes to the area Saturday
Lovers of spiders and snakes won’t want to miss this event.
ReptiDay is coming to the Crowne Plaza at the Bell Tower Shoppes in Fort Myers on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and will feature numerous breeders and vendors offering hundreds of animals and other merchandise.
ReptiDay, presented by the same team that has produced ReptiCon reptile expos nationwide, will feature everything that Repticon’s two-day shows offer, all packed into a single day, all of which is suitable for all members of the family.
Bonnie Miller, promotions team leader, said a one-day show is appropriate for a city like Fort Myers. Vendors have requested to come to the area, but the market isn’t quite big enough to support a two-day event, such as Tampa and Orlando, which hold several such events a year.
“A one-day show was more successful for us and our vendors. We label them just to distinguish them from the two-day shows,” Miller said. “ReptiDay has proven itself to be very successful in many of the smaller cities.”
ReptiDay features a unique blend of vendors and breeders, offering hundreds of reptiles, amphibians, invertebrates, spiders, and small exotic animals to area enthusiasts.
Top breeders and vendors will have animals, merchandise, cages, supplies, live and frozen feeders, and much more. They will also offer their expert advice about the animals, their habitats, feeding, and care, and sell whatever is needed to care for them.
“The vendors are very knowledgeable and more than helpful to those who think they may want a chameleon because they’re cute but don’t know a thing about them,” Miller said.
In addition, world-class seminars by industry experts will educate and entertain throughout the day. Many of the seminars feature live animals with an opportunity for guests to interact with them.
Among the topics will be “Conditional Species: Applications and Care of Large Constrictors,” and how to pick your first pet.
There will also be free raffles, giving guests a chance to win some prizes and other fun activities.
“People get to see animals they don’t ordinarily get to see. It’s very educational and the shows are an excellent opportunity for people who have this hobby to get together,” Miller said. “Many of them bring their own pets, which is allowed as long as they are controlled.”
There will be no venomous creatures at the show.
