Taste of Pine Island rescheduled for Feb. 27-28
The Taste of Pine Island has been rescheduled for the weekend of Feb. 27 and 28.
“Unfortunately, because of the unprecedented amount of rain over the last few weeks, the Bobby Holloway Ballfield at Phillips Park is unusable,” Joy Veatch said. “Therefore, we were forced to reschedule the Kiwanis Taste of Pine Island to Feb. 27 and 28. Everything else will remain the same.”
The annual event, which features a number of island restaurants offering samples of their food, along with live musical entertainment plus the 13th annual Southwest Florida Chowder Cook-off Contest and 5th annual Chili Cook-off Contest, was originally scheduled for this coming weekend, Jan. 30-31.
“We hope everyone will be able to attend the event and continue supporting our efforts to raise funds for scholarships for the youth of Pine Island, as well as the many other worthwhile programs that the Pine Island Kiwanis sponsor,” Veatch said this week.
The organizers are expecting the rescheduled Taste of Pine Island to be a spectacular event and are looking forward to seeing you there.

The Taste of Pine Island is the primary fundraiser for the Kiwanis Club of Greater Pine Island Youth Scholarship Fund. This year the club hopes to raise over $25,000 at the event to assist Pine Island students with their higher education costs.
Since 1985, the island Kiwanis Club has provided over $250,000 in scholarships and has helped with many projects and organizations that benefit the youth of the area.
