A motorist has been released from the hospital after a recent two-vehicle crash in Cape Coral.

As of Tuesday, William Francis Sullivan, 59, of 2129 N.E. 20th Terrace, had been discharged from Lee Memorial Hospital, where he was transported on Feb. 19 following the crash, according to officials.

At 2:01 p.m., Sullivan was driving a Kia Forte west on Kismet Parkway and approaching the intersection at Nelson Road, police reported. At the time, another Kia Forte was headed north on Nelson. As Sullivan approached the intersection, the second Kia Forte was stopped at the stop sign.

Witnesses reported that Sullivan ran the stop sign at the four-way intersection as the second vehicle, driven by Michael William Wisniewski Jr., 18, of 2824 N.W. 21st Ave., moved into the intersection. As a result, the front left section of Sullivan’s vehicle struck the front right part of Wisniewski’s vehicle.

Sullivan’s vehicle was forced out of the intersection, struck a stop sign and came to a rest in a field, according to police. Wisniewski’s vehicle was forced to the west and came to stop in the intersection.

Sullivan was found unresponsive in the front passenger seat with life-threatening injuries.

Wisniewski and a passenger in his vehicle, Andrew W. Wisniewski, 15, of 2824 N.W. 21st Ave., sustained minor injuries, but both refused medical transport, according to police. A second passenger, Arielle J. Gray, 19, of 5952 King Fish, Bokeelia, was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

As of Tuesday, she had been treated and released from Cape Coral Hospital.

It was unknown at the time if the crash was alcohol or drug related, according to police.
