Two men are accused of breaking into a Cape Coral home with guns and demanding money.

Norman Edward Hendricks, 20, of 3302 N. Santa Barbara Blvd., and Jonathan Christian Romero, 18, of 20 S.E. 17th Ave., were arrested and charged Wednesday in connection to the Monday incident.

“We are glad to see such a quick apprehension in this case. This was a great effort by all components – patrol, investigative services bureau and forensic,” Sgt. Dana Coston, CCPD spokesman, said.

“Thank you to our partners on the U.S. Marshals task force for their assistance,” he added.

Hendricks and Romero were taken into custody with the assistance of the task force.

Both men were booked into the Lee County Jail for aggravated assault with deadly weapon without intent to kill and burglary dwelling structure or conveyance armed, according to official records.

As of Thursday, they were being held without bond.

Neither could not be reached for comment on the allegations.

At 9:11 p.m., police responded to shots fired and a burglary in progress at 913 S.E. 27th Terrace. According to officials, a neighbor heard the shots go off and looked out the window. The caller saw several subjects with flashlights break the rear screen door of the house and enter the residence.

When officers arrived on scene, a man exited the back lanai of the home.

Police learned that the man was a resident of the house. The man told officers that two men, who are known to him, forced their way into his residence with guns and demanded money they say was owed to them. When they left, they fired rounds into the hood and rear quarter panel of a vehicle parked at the home.

Police reported that no one was injured, but three children were inside of the home at the time.

Hendricks and Romero both have a court appearance on May 9.
