A Cape Coral man is accused of robbing a convenience store at gunpoint on Sunday.

Christopher Michael Davies, 23, of 608 S.E. 46th St., was arrested and charged Monday with robbery with weapon, as well as cocaine possession and drug equipment possession and/or use, jail records state.

As of Tuesday, he was being held at the Lee County Jail on $140,000 bond.

Just before midnight, a man entered the Circle K, at 780 Pondella Road, North Fort Myers, armed with an AR style rifle. The man demanded money from the register, and the cashier complied. After getting the bag full of cash, the suspect fled the store on foot south on Pondella Road.

Authorities put out a description of the man and asked for the public’s help identifying him.

Less than 12 hours after the robbery, Davies was identified as the suspect and taken into custody at a residence on Happy Road in North Fort Myers, according to Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers.

“Davies is a criminal registrant with numerous prior arrests, dating back to 2008 when he was jailed for felony theft and burglary charges at age 14,” Trish Routte, the coordinator for Crime Stoppers, said. “As an adult, he’s been incarcerated for assault, disorderly intoxication and loitering and prowling.”

“Additionally, he’s spent roughly a year and a half in state prison for criminal mischief,” she added in a prepared statement released on Monday.

Davies has a court appearance scheduled for July 24.
