A Cape Coral man was found at-fault in an accident that critically injured another driver.

John Degemis Ferrero, 61, was cited for vehicle entering stop or yield intersection in a Tuesday crash in Charlotte County at county Road 74 and state Road 31, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Ferrero was driving a Ford F350 westbound on CR 74 when he stopped at the intersection of SR 31. At 11:50 a.m., he entered the intersection into the direct path of a semitrailer that was northbound on 31.

The FHP reported that front of the semitrailer collided into the right side of the Ford.

The impact redirected the Ford and it came to rest on the shoulder of the roadway. The semitrailer crossed the road’s centerline and collided head-on with an Acura RL headed southbound on 32.

The driver of the Acura, Oliver M. Ahn, 52, of Fort Myers, sustained critical injuries.

According to the FHP, he was transported to the Lee Trauma Center.

As of Thursday, Ahn was listed in critical condition at the hospital, officials reported.

Neither Ferrero, nor did the driver of the semitrailer, sustained any injuries.
