CCPD investigating report of shots fired at residence
Cape Coral police are continuing to investigate a report of shots fired at a residence Monday evening.
At 5:11 p.m., officers responded to gunshots fired in the area of 4806 S.E Fourth Place. Upon arrival, they made contact with witnesses who stated that they were home when they heard multiple shots.
They said they walked out to the street and saw a black vehicle drive northbound up onto a grass area and strike a sign. A man then got out and picked up a pistol that he had dropped out of the window.
Witnesses told police that the vehicle sped off heading north on Country Club Boulevard.
According to a report, officers located the affected residence at 4620 S.E. Fourth Place.
“Multiple areas of the residence had evidence of being struck with bullets and appeared to be the target,” officials said in a prepared statement on Tuesday. “Officers located multiple shell casings along the west side of the roadway in the 4600 block. They were marked and CCPD Forensics advised.”
Police do not believe that the shooting was a random incident.
According to witnesses, there were four men in the black vehicle that drove away. A white man wearing a toboggan hat was driving, a black man with dreadlocks was the front passenger and two white men were riding in the back of the vehicle.
