A Cape Coral driver was released from the hospital after his vehicle was recently T-boned.

As of Thursday, Pablo A. Zuniga, 31, of 5239 S.W. 20th Place, had been discharged from Lee Memorial Hospital, where he was taken following the crash at Del Prado Boulevard and Southwest 47th Terrace.

On June 14, Zuniga was eastbound on 47th Terrace in a Nissan 300 ZX when he stopped for a red light at Del Prado, police reported. At about 4:25 p.m., the light turned green and he started forward into the intersection and was struck on the driver’s side by a Hyundai Sonata headed southbound on Del Prado.

The driver of the Hyundai, Jeremy Ray Holland, 45, of the Cape, had run the red light.

Both vehicles came to rest in the southbound lanes of Del Prado at 47th Terrace.

Police reported that the front of the Hyundai crushed into the driver’s door of the Nissan, causing several serious injuries to Zuniga and pinning him in. Zuniga had to be extricated from the Nissan.

He was trauma-alerted to the hospital by ambulance.

Holland sustained minor injuries but refused medical attention on scene.

Officials reported that the southbound lanes of Del Prado in the 4700 block were shut down for approximately two hours for the crash investigation, causing traffic delays during rush hour.

The accident is not alcohol or drug related.

Holland was found at-fault in the crash for running a red light, according to police.
