DUI operation results in three arrests
Three drivers were charged with DUI and a total of 29 citations were issued during a High Visibility Enforcement DUI Operation traffic detail conducted by the Cape Coral Police Department Traffic Unit Saturday night into Sunday moring.
The operation was a 4-officer saturation patrol that was conducted city-wide. Officers were focused on identifying and taking impaired drivers off the road, officials said in a release issued Sunday morning.
Arrested were:
* Harold James Laushway Jr., 66, of 1152 SE 32nd Terrace Cape Coral. He was charged with DUI.
“Sgt. Kolak stopped Laushway for failing to maintain a single lane and speeding,” the release states. “Sgt. Kolak saw signs of impairment and asked Laushway to complete field sobriety exercises. At the completion, Laushway was arrested for DUI. Laushway refused to take a breath test.”
* Anthony Michael Montero, 23, of 2822 SE Santa Barbara Pl., Cape Coral. He was charged with DUI.
“Det. Jones Stopped Montero for almost hitting another vehicle while changing lanes,” the release states. “Det. Jones saw signs of impairment and asked Montero to complete field sobriety exercises. Montero was arrested for DUI, but refused to take a breath test.”
* Michael Lee Rivera, 39, of 2123 SW 8th Ct., Cape Coral. He was charged with DUI.
“Sgt. O’Grady stopped Rivera for failing to maintain a single lane. Sgt. O’Grady saw signs of impairment and asked Rivera to complete field sobriety exercises. Rivera was arrested for DUI, but refused a breath test,” the release states.
