One dead in Cape shooting
One of two people shot at a south Cape Coral condo Thursday morning died of her injuries.
Bridget Quinn, 20, of New Jersey, was transported to the hospital where she succumbed from gunshot wounds, Cape Coral police said in a statement released Friday.
The second person, whose name has not been released, was also taken to the hospital with gunshot wounds. His or her condition has not been updated.
The shooting occurred at 4717 S.W. 13 Avenue, Unit 209, with police called at 10:52 a.m.
Cape Coral Police Department Patrol Bureau officers, Major Crimes Unit detectives, Forensics personnel remained at the residence for several hours Thursday, interviewing witnesses, and gathering evidence, officials said, adding the investigation is still ongoing.
There is no danger to the public, police said.
“As it is still very early on in this investigation, we are not able to go into detail regarding the specifics of this tragic incident. We do want to re-emphasize the point that there is no danger to the public at large as a result of this incident or any events surrounding it. Once we are able to complete some more of the technical aspects of the investigation, we will be able to release more details publicly,” said CCPD spokesperson Lt. Dana Coston, in the statement.
