Burch to withdraw from District 1 race

Incumbent Jim Burch said today he will withdraw from the District 1 City Council race.

While he remains confident in both his re-election bid and his ability to continue to serve the city well, he said there are other matters to which he would like to devote time.

“I think it’s unfair to the city to commit to four years if there are others I would like to do,” Burch said.

He is comfortable with the remaining slate for the seat.

“I feel confident when I leave, the city is in good hands,” he said. “I feel good about the people coming in. I think the candidates, overall, generally speaking, are qualified to hold the District 1 seat.”
