Cape woman killed, man critically injured in motorcycle crash on Summerlin
A Cape Coral woman was killed on Wednesday after being thrown from a motorcycle.
At about 6:13 a.m., the Fort Myers Police Department responded to a single-vehicle accident on Summerlin Road, near the intersection of Summerlin Commons, according to officials.
Upon arrival, officers discovered two people suffering from serious injuries.
An investigation revealed that Pavel Naranjo Jr., 31, of Cape Coral, was driving a 2006 Kawasaki motorcycle north on Summerlin when he lost control and struck the curb. Officials reported that he and his passenger, Angela Carole Tresenriter, 44, also of the Cape, were ejected from the bike.
Tresenriter was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Naranjo was transported to Lee Memorial Hospital with critical injuries.
As of Thursday, he was listed in critical condition, according to Lee Health officials.
Alcohol and speed are suspected to be contributing factors in the accident.
“Criminal charges are pending,” Lt. Jay Rodriguez, spokesman for the FMPD, said in a statement.
