CCPD investigating a shooting with injuries
Cape Coral police detectives are investigating a shooting that left one man injured in the northeast Cape Sunday night.
The call came in around 10:30 p.m. with the location reported as 1906 N.E. 24th Ave., the Cape Coral Police Department said in a release issued Monday morning.
The caller told Communications that he had been shot before the call then disconnected. Communications continued calling back but there was no answer.
As officers were arriving and staging south of the residence, Communications advised that they received a call that a male had just arrived in his vehicle at a fireworks stand at 704 N.E. 13th Ave. with a gunshot wound. He said he had been shot on Northeast 24th Avenue, but would not provide any other information, police said.
Officers and EMS responded and met with the injured person to provide care and to get additional information. He was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
Officers set up two tactical teams to approach the residence at 1906 N.E. 24th Avenue using the Bearcat and aviation. Blood was found in the driveway of the residence.
Officers used the PA system to command the residents to come out. Two individuals, described only as a male and a female, exited the residence and were detained.
“Officers conducted a protective sweep of the residence and did not find any other victims,” police said.
Investigative Services Bureau Major Crimes Unit responded and took over the investigation. Forensics personnel responded to assist.
“Detectives do not believe this to be a random incident and do not believe there to be a danger to the public at-large,” the release states.
The investigation is ongoing this morning, police said.
