Free Discover Parks & Recreation event this Saturday
July is “National Park and Recreation Month,” and the Cape Coral Parks and Recreation Department is hosting a free family event on Saturday to celebrate. This year’s “Discover Parks and Recreation Day” will be held at the Cape Coral Yacht Club on Saturday, July 15, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Featured activities will include an ice cream social, kids’ crafts, touch tanks, a photo booth, scavenger hunt, live critters and prize drawings throughout the day. Several Parks & Recreation Divisions will be on hand, ranging from the Cape Coral Arts Studio, Four Freedoms Park and Environmental Recreation to the Youth Center, Special Populations and the Yacht Club Pool. New this year, the event will be spread out among the Rotino Center, Yacht Club Ballroom, Tennis Courts and Yacht Club Beach.
Prizes include tickets to Sun Splash Family Waterpark, free golf at Coral Oaks Golf Course, passes to the Yacht Club Pool and Eagle Skate Park kayaking at Eco Park, passes to the 2017 Coconut Festival, a remote-controlled boat and more.
“We’re pleased to offer this free community event to showcase a little bit of what Cape Coral Parks and Recreation has to offer,” said Steve Pohlman, director of Cape Coral Parks & Recreation, in a prepared statement. “This is a perfect opportunity for families to come out and have some fun while learning about all the terrific recreation programs and amenities that are available in their own back yard.”
