A man who was shot and injured in Cape Coral has been released from the hospital.

As of Thursday, Ehab Ibraham Kudsi, 27, of 4239 Liron Ave., Apt. 202, Fort Myers, had been discharged from Lee Memorial Hospital, where he was taken on Sunday, officials reported.

At 10:32 p.m., Cape police responded to a shooting in the area of 1906 N.E. 24th Ave. Dispatch had received a call from a man who stated that he had been shot, then immediately disconnected. Dispatch attempted to call the number back several times with negative results, according to the Cape police.

As officers were arriving and setting up south of the home, dispatch received another call that a man with a gunshot wound had arrived at a fireworks stand at 704 N.E. 13th Ave. in his vehicle. The victim, identified as Kudsi, said he was shot on Northeast 24th Avenue but declined to provide more details.

Officers and EMS met with Kudsi to provide care and gather additional information.

He was transported to the hospital for treatment, police reported.

Officers set up two tactical teams to approach the home at 1906 N.E. 24th Ave. using a Bearcat and aviation. Upon approaching the residence, what appeared to be fresh blood was found in the driveway. Officers used the PA system to command the residents of the home to come out, according to police.

Two people, described only as a man and a woman, exited and were detained.

Officers conducted a protective sweep of the residence and did not find any other victims.

“Detectives do not believe this to be a random incident and do not believe there to be a danger to the public at-large,” police officials reported in a prepared statement released on Monday.

The investigation is ongoing.
