Cape declares State of Local Emergency
The City of Cape Coral has declared a State of Local Emergency.
“The Emergency Operations Center has been activated and staff is focusing on ensuring that the community is as prepared as possible,” city officials said in a release issued late Tuesday. “The City of Cape Coral is working closely with Lee County Emergency Management officials and other state and county agencies to closely monitor Hurricane Irma. Official City updates and other safety information will be provided regularly and will be issued from the Fire Department’s Division of Emergency Management. A dedicated website has been created so residents can find all relevant local safety information in one location.”
Visit www.capecoral.net/hurricane for timely updates.
Any updates to the Hurricane Irma website will also be posted on the City’s social media sites. There is a link to the Hurricane Irma website on the City’s main page (the link can be found by visiting capecoral.net under “Latest City News”). The City will also rely on our local media to distribute important information. Residents are asked to monitor all public safety messages from our local, county and state partners and we urge everyone to take the necessary precautions in preparation for the approaching storm.
