‘Peace Day in the Park’ moved to Fort Myers

1 min read

The 10th Annual Peace Day in the Park will be held as scheduled Sunday, but at a new location due to Hurricane Irma.

The free community event in honor of the International Day of Peace has moved from Jaycee Park in Cape Coral to Alliance for the Arts in Fort Myers.

Peace Day in the Park is focused on giving back to the community and making a local difference. In the past 10 years, the grassroots project has collected tons of food for local food pantries and shelters in need, each year also hosting the Big Red Bus, collecting generous supplies of what they call “peace blood.” All blood donations stay in SWFL, saving local lives in need.

This year’s theme is Peace in the Midst of Adversity, “acknowledging the challenges of the times we are living in, and working together to communicate kindness and understanding.”

The celebration is free for the whole family, even pets, complete with live music, yoga for peace, meditation, a chill out zone, kids and adult crafts, workshops, education and unique vendors, non-profits, lots of tasty food and sweet treats, live art, games, and more!

Alliance for the Arts is at 10091 McGregor Blvd.
