A Cape Coral teen remained hospitalized Thursday after being shot earlier in the week.

Sammie Jacor Young, 18, of 1030 Hancock Creek Blvd. S., was listed in fair condition at Lee Memorial Hospital, where he was taken Tuesday after being shot on the street, officials reported.

At 11:54 p.m., Young and a second person were walking southbound on Hancock Creek when they heard a gunshot come from vehicle as they were about 100 feet south of the entrance to the Pine Key Condominium Resort. Young fell to the ground screaming in pain, according to the police report.

The vehicle, described as a dark-colored four-door car, continued north on Hancock Creek.

The report states that the second person tried to help Young up off the ground, but then ran to get help instead. The second person went to the apartment of another individual, where 911 was contacted.

Both individuals moved Young to a spot closer to the Pine Key entrance.

EMS responded and Young was transported to the hospital, according to the report.

The second person could not provide a description of the vehicle tag or shooter.

Police conducted a neighborhood canvas of the nearby apartment buildings.
