Chiquita Lock repaired
The Chiquita Lock has been repaired and is fully operational, according to the city of Cape Coral. The lock will be monitored to ensure that there are no other repairs needed.
Boaters are also urged to avoid travelling in the canals until all debris is removed. Debris can be under the surface of the water and may not be visible, which could cause damage to vessels. More than 1,500 trees have fallen into canals and it could take up to three months before they can be cleared and removed. Crews are scheduled to begin removing debris in the canals next week and will be starting in areas that are completely blocked by fallen trees.
The Chiquita Lock is at 5808 Cape Harbour Drive in south Cape Coral.
