Friends of NW library to hold book sale
Book lovers will get an opportunity Saturday to add amply to their home library without spending very much.
The Friends of the Northwest Regional Library, at 519 Chiquita Blvd. North, will hold its Big Fall Book Sale on Saturday, from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. The fundraiser will feature thousands of books, CDs, DVDs, audio books and more.
All proceeds from the sale will go toward the library.
Kathy Franklin, president of the Friends of the Northwest Regional Library (which was founded in 2010), said the group has about 40 members who volunteer for and support the library specifically.
“We raise funds to support them with supplies and programs that are not within their normal operating budget,” Franklin said. “They have a magician that comes, we have baby yoga, and storytime for children in which they also do crafts.”
It is one of two book sales the Friends have throughout the year, the other being in the spring. The hope is to raise about $1,000, which is about what they raised earlier this year, Franklin said.
For the first time, there will also be a silent auction of rare titles, autographed books, first edition printings and more.
On Friday, also from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., members of the group will get first dibs on the thousands of books expected to be on sale before the actual sale the following day.
