Kids fests this week and next

A pair of popular festivals for children are set for today and next Saturday.

Both are free.

* The North Fort Myers Rec Center Fall Festival

The North Fort Myers Rec Center Fall Festival is set for today from 6 to 9 p.m.

Admission is free, and there will be a costume contest, candy, face painting, bounce houses, photo booth, a live DJ, games, prizes and much more.

Also, the first 200 kids who sign up for the costume contest will get a bag of candy.

The North Fort Myers Rec Center is at 2000 North Recreation Park Way, North Fort Myers.

* Fall Kids’ Festival

The Kiwanis Club of Harney Point, The Kiwanis Club of Cape Coral and Cape Coral Parks & Recreation will present the 20th annual Harney Point Kiwanis KidsFest on Saturday, Oct. 28, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the festival grounds of Sun Splash Family Waterpark, 400 Santa Barbara Blvd in Cape Coral. The event is sponsored by the Gunterberg Charitable Foundation and the Culliton family.

KidsFest will feature entertainment throughout the day as well as Halloween costume contests with prizes. Attractions will include games and inflatable rides. The festival will also offer health and safety information, family-oriented vendors, give-away items, crafts and food.

There will also be a 2K obstacle course run for kids. Children ages 8 to 12 will start at 8 a.m., and children 4 to 7 will start after the first group finishes. Each participant will receive a 20th KidsFest 2K Celebration shirt, breakfast snack, water and a power drink. The run registration is $20.
