‘Pine Island Cares’ hurricane relief benefit Saturday

Pine Island Community Church, Seven Seas Bait and Tackle and the Ragged Ass Saloon have joined forces to hold “Pine Island Cares” to benefit in the recovery of Everglades City & Chocoloskee.

The benefit will be held Saturday, Oct. 14, from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., at the Ragged Ass Saloon.

The event will feature music all day, 50/50 drawings, food and more.

“We have some great bands and music for the benefit Saturday,” organizer Jim Frock said. “We have Knee Deep kicking things off, followed by Bryan Lee and the Six Strings Therapy Band. Islanders will remember Bryan Lee as ‘Braille Blues Daddy.’ We also have Josh Rowland and the Pitbull Blues Band.

“This is a party for everyone and to help the people from fellow barrier islands.”

Many things will be needed – nonperishable food items and other products like clothing, bedding, towels, toiletry items (various), water, cleaning supplies, bug spray, sunscreen, buckets and more.

The Ragged Ass Saloon is at 3421 Stringfellow Road, St James City, on Pine Island.
