GoFundMe set up for Cypress Lake High student who died of COVID-19 complications

2 min read

A GoFundMe page has been set up for Carsyn Leigh Davis, who died of coronavirus complications on June 23, shortly after her 17th birthday.

An honor student at Cypress Lake High School, she is the youngest person in Lee County to die after contracting COVID-19.

According to a GoFundMe page organized by her friend Ashley Walters, Davis was a member of the high school’s vocal department and bowling team.

In a statement attributed to Davis’ mother, she was also remembered as an honors student, an aide to the special needs classroom and a faithful volunteer for Special Olympics and the Be A Buddy program.

She was an avid photographer and loved her AP Photography class at school. She loved visiting her grandparents on Sanibel and taking pictures at the beach at sunset.

Davis loved going to coin shows with her stepdad and was a member of the Florida United Numismatists.

Davis was actively involved in Youth Church at First Assembly of God in Fort Myers. She was involved with the Angel Tree ministry, buying and delivering gifts to underprivileged youth who had a parent serving time in prison. She also participated in the Operation Christmas Child program through Samaritan’s Purse, filling several Christmas boxes each year.

She also had a rare autoimmune disorder.

Funds raised will help her family defray expenses.
