A man answering the door at the scene of a reported overdose dropped a box full of drugs in front of the officers to whom he was speaking, resulting in multiple charges Thursday night.

Cody Wynn, 24, of 1101 S.E. 22nd Terrace, was charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance without a prescription, possession of cocaine, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of counterfeit money (more than 10 bills), according to a release issued by the Cape Coral Police Department Friday. Wynn was additionally found to have a felony violation of probation warrant.

Officers had responded to the Casa Loma Motel at 3608 Del Prado Boulevard South after receiving a drug overdose call. As they arrived at the door, Wynn left the room and began speaking with officers, the release states. While doing so he “dropped the box he was holding on the ground, spilling a plethora of drugs onto the ground,” police said, adding after Wynn was arrested in connection with the drugs, he also was found to be in possession of counterfeit U.S. currency. A CCPD detective who is also a department liaison to the Secret Service then responded regarding the counterfeit money.

Wynn was transported to the Lee County Jail where he remained in custody late Friday afternoon.
