Republican Women to recognize public defender at January meeting

Kathleen Smith, Public Defender for the 20th Judicial Circuit, has been named the recipient of the Fort Myers Republican Women’s Club’s GEM award. The award will be presented during the Jan. 18 luncheon meeting being held at The Helm Club, The Landings, South Fort Myers.
The GEM award represents Great leadership, Excellent programs and policies, and Major contribution of time and effort in our community. Smith serves as the current president of the FMRWC. She serves the residents of Charlotte, Hendry, Glades, and Lee counties as Public Defender.
Former club President, Carole Green, will install the 2022 officers: President Kathleen Smith; 1st Vice President Erin Casey; 2nd Vice President Sally Jackson; Recording Secretary Diane Kinser; Corresponding Secretary Claudia Zambor; Treasurer Nancy Campbell; and Assistant Treasurer Tina Laurie.
The public is invited to attend the luncheon and the program. A social hour begins at 11:15 a.m. The noon lunch will be followed by the GEM award presentation, installation of officers, and the speaker presentation. The luncheon cost is $20. The annual Fashion Show will be held on Tuesday, March 28. Fashions will be provided by Razzle Dazzle with club members serving as models. A social hour and silent auction begin at 11 a.m., with the lunch served at noon. The cost is $40. Reservations are required and are available by contacting Diane Kinser, at Social.lady@yahoo.com.
