Pine Island Emergency Repairs- Between 4274 and 4120 Pine Island Road: Starting Wednesday February 22nd through Friday March 3rd motorists should expect temporary lane closures with flaggers between 7:00 PM and 5:00 AM while conducting underground construction. Drivers are urged to use extra caution when traveling through the work zone. Westgate Boulevard at 8th Street West: Lee County DOT will be implementing a traffic pattern change at the intersection of Westgate Boulevard and 8th Street West. The work to complete this change will include installation of Qwick Curb along the centerline of Westgate Boulevard, as well as signing and pavement marking modifications, as needed, to restrict the eastbound and westbound movements to only right turns in and out at the intersection. All work will be completed by Lee County DOT Traffic staff and will be completed between 7:00pm and 5:00am on Thursday March 2, 2023. Bonita Beach Road at US HWY 41 – Bonita Springs (ROW2023-00205): Tierra, Inc. will be performing roadway pavement cores beginning Monday, February 27, 2023 and continue through Friday, March 3, 2023. Asphalt pavement sampling will be performed. There will be lane closures in the westbound and eastbound lanes of Bonita Beach Road, southbound lanes of Windsor Road and southbound outside turning lane of US HWY 41. This will be a nighttime operation and periodic lane closures for these lanes will occur between the hours of 7 p.m. and 6 a.m. on the weekdays. US-41 & Pondella Rd, North Fort Myers: Lee County DOT Traffic will be changing out the traffic signal cabinet at US-41 & Pondella Rd on Wednesday, February 22, 2023 from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM. The traffic signal will be dark, and Lee County Sheriff’s Office will be directing traffic. Motorists and pedestrians are urged to use extra caution in this area. Fiddlesticks Boulevard at Daniels Parkway and Palomino Lane at Jobe Road/Kings Crossing Road: Lee County DOT will be performing repairs to the Qwick Curb along the centerline of Fiddlesticks Boulevard at Daniels Parkway and Palomino Lane at Jobe Road/Kings Crossing Road. Lane closures will occur while work is being performed, Traffic will be maintained with flagmen. All work will be completed by Lee County DOT Traffic staff and will be completed between 7:00 PM and 5:00 AM on Thursday February 16, 2023. Crystal Drive (Plantation Road to US 41) Water Main Improvements (ROW 2022-00020): Beginning April 4, 2022, contractors for Lee County will install new water main beginning on the west side of Planation Road just south of the roundabout with Crystal Drive. Then install the water main on the south side of Crystal Drive from Plantation Road to US 41 to tie into a connection point on the east side of US 41 just south of Crystal Drive. Crews will also install water main from a connection point on the east side of US 41 near 12499 Cleveland Avenue (PDQ). Then continue east to Austin Street and west under US 41 to the north side of Brantley Road and tie into a connection point between Pine Grove and Brantley Pines driveways. Crews are expected to work 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. This project is expected to be completed in summer 2023.
Drivers, pedestrians and bicyclists should use caution and be aware of construction equipment and vehicles entering/exiting streets in the project area.

41/Cleveland Avenue from Winkler Avenue to SR 82/Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard. Construction project: Crews will be installing and relocating utilities and constructing medians on US 41/Cleveland Avenue from Winkler Avenue to SR 82.
• Expect Crawford Street closed on the east side of US 41 / Cleveland Avenue.
• Expect Hoople Street closed on the east side of US 41 / Cleveland Avenue.
• Expect Suwanee Avenue closed on the west side of US 41 / Cleveland Avenue.
• Motorists should expect side road closures from Winkler Avenue to Victoria Avenue throughout the duration of the project.
• Motorists should expect intermittent northbound and southbound lane closures and detours on US 41/Cleveland Avenue during daytime and nighttime/overnight hours Monday through Friday throughout the duration of the project.
Additional work includes installing drainage structures, pedestrian signals, upgrading signals and lighting, and resurfacing existing highway. The project will be constructed in three segments. Each segment will have most of the construction completed prior to moving to the next segment. Crews will work on the west side of the road initially and when that work is completed, they will shift to the east side of Cleveland Avenue/US 41. The expected project completion is late 2023.
Cape Coral Toll Facility: Starting Sunday February 19, 2023, and ending on February 22, 2023 nightly from 9:00 PM to 6:00 AM. Lee County DOT will be performing lane maintenance through toll plaza. Bell Blvd Bridge Closure and Detour – Begins February 20, 2023: The Bell Blvd. bridge between Crestview Pl & Scenic St, ¼ mile south of the Joel Blvd/ Leeland Heights Blvd. intersection will be closed to all through traffic beginning Monday February 20, 2023 for repairs. Northbound Bell Blvd. traffic will be detoured east on Sentinela Blvd. to north on McArthur Blvd., west on E 2nd St to north on Country Club Pkwy to Joel Blvd. Southbound will be detoured from Bell Blvd. to east on Joel Blvd. to south on Country Club Pkwy, east on E 2nd St, south on McArthur Blvd to west on Sentinela Blvd. Work is expected to be completed by the week of March 6, 2023. Pondella Road Bridge Maintenance Activities: Lee County DOT Contractor, Villafuerte Construction, will perform maintenance activities on the Pondella Road Bridge. The projected start date is February 20, 2023, and it is expected to be completed by March 6, 2023. The activities will require lane closures between 9:00 PM and 5:00 AM. Burnt Store Road from Tropicana Parkway to Pine Island Road: Motorists should expect temporary southbound traffic diversions from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM. This project consists of widening Burnt Store Road to four lanes. The project also includes construction of a new bridge over Shadroe Canal, drainage installation, and lighting. Motorists should expect intermittent Northbound and Southbound Lane closures during nighttime/overnight hours, weather permitting. Motorists should use caution while driving in the area. This south segment from Tropicana Parkway to Pine Island Road costs $13.6 million. The contractor is Wright Construction. The project is expected to be completed by spring 2023. Corkscrew Road Widening Project – Phase I Construction Project: The project widens Corkscrew Road to six lanes from Ben Hill Griffin Parkway to Fire House Lane, and to four lanes from Fire House Lane to Bella Terra Boulevard. The project includes adding on-road bike lanes, some sidewalk, installing new drainage, and constructing a wildlife crossing approximately 1000 feet west of the entrance to Cypress Shadows Boulevard. This crossing will coincide with a regional flow-way that crosses Corkscrew Road at that location. The Village of Estero will be installing shared use paths, lighting, and landscaping as phasing allows. Drivers, pedestrians, and bicyclists are urged to use extra caution when traveling through the work zone. Please be aware of shifts in travel lanes and bike lanes, sidewalk detours, miscellaneous turn lane closures, and uneven pavement throughout the project.
Please use caution and drive with courtesy and patience throughout the project area. Residents are entering and exiting communities on both sides of Corkscrew Road.
Much of the work originally scheduled for this week was rescheduled for the following week to minimize impacts to traffic AFTER the traffic shift occurs.
• RESCHEDULED: During the nighttime/overnight hours on Monday, February 20 through Wednesday, February 22, motorists are urged to plan extra time when using the Ben Hill Griffin Parkway intersection. Crews will be replacing the signal. Motorists should expect turn lane closures and intermittent traffic stops as equipment is removed and replaced.
• RESCHEDULED: During the nighttime/overnight hours on Thursday, February 23, motorists are urged to plan extra time when using the Stoneybrook Golf Drive intersection. Crews will be replacing the signal. Motorists should expect turn lane closures and intermittent traffic stops as equipment is removed and replaced.
• RESCHEDULED: Crews will be working during the nighttime/overnight hours on Thursday, February 24 to switch traffic to the new lanes. Motorists should expect a new traffic pattern on Friday morning, February 25. Crews continue striping, limerock, curb and gutter, and guardrail installation throughout the project to facilitate this switch. This shift will allow for the next phase of construction of the bridge/wildlife crossing, box culverts, and roadway on the north side (westbound) of the project.
• Motorists should expect one lane in the Bella Terra exit to be closed Monday, February 20 and Tuesday, February 21. Besides this work activity, two lanes of two-way travel has been restored ahead of schedule in the Bella Terra driveway.
• Motorists should expect construction vehicles pulling in and out of traffic near the driveways of The Preserve at Corkscrew and Bella Terra. Motorists will be guided to stop short of the stop bars when leaving these communities to provide space for the trucks to back in along the roadway and deliver limerock to build the road. Flaggers will assist motorists when necessary.
• Crews continue construction of the roadway between Wild Blue Boulevard and The Preserve. Crews continue work on the 10-foot-high fence that will be used to funnel the wildlife to cross safely under Corkscrew Road. Motorists should be aware of vehicles entering/exiting the road in this area.
• Bicyclists should expect the bike lane from Stoneybrook Golf Drive to just east of Wildcat Run to be combined with the travel lane while crews work on the north side of the road.
• Pedestrians should expect the sidewalk on the south side of the road closed from Ben Hill Griffin Parkway to Stoneybrook Golf Drive while the Village of Estero constructs the shared use path.
• Turn lanes are currently unavailable at Wild Blue Boulevard, Cypress Shadows Boulevard (The Preserve at Corkscrew), Midnight Blue Boulevard, and Bella Terra Boulevard (eastbound right-turn lane).
The work activities above are scheduled to occur, however unforeseen underground conditions and weather may affect this schedule.
WORK PERFORMED BY OTHERS:
• GL Homes is actively working in their development site across from Wild Blue Boulevard. Motorists should expect delays and use caution as construction vehicles enter/exit the roadway. On heavy haul days, GL Homes will be providing flaggers to reduce backups on Corkscrew Road.
• The Village of Estero has begun construction on the shared use path on the south side of the road from Ben Hill Griffin Parkway to Stoneybrook Golf Drive. The Village is currently designing the path to extend to the east property line of Bella Terra and on the north side of the road to east of Grandezza.
MOTORISTS ARE REMINDED TO OBEY THE POSTED SPEED LIMIT. Please use caution and watch for workers and construction vehicles entering and leaving the roadway. Estimated completion is late 2023. Project cost is approximately $23 M. The contractor is Cougar Contracting, LLC. Sanibel Causeway Emergency Restoration: As a part of the Florida Department of Transportation’s (FDOT) Emergency Restoration of the Sanibel Causeway, crews continue work on McGregor Boulevard and the Sanibel Causeway from Port Comfort Road to Sanibel Island. Westbound McGregor Boulevard has been reduced to one lane approaching and through the toll plaza. Crews continue earthwork on the causeway islands. MOTORISTS ARE REMINDED TO OBEY THE POSTED SPEED LIMIT OF 20 MPH.
• Crews continue driving sheet pile around the causeway islands.
• The causeway islands surrounding the temporary roadway are an active work zone and are currently closed for public access.
• Bicyclists are encouraged to utilize another mode of transportation to travel the causeway.
• Pedestrians are not permitted on the Sanibel Causeway.
Many oversized vehicles are crossing the causeway to assist with recovery efforts on the island. Please be patient as travel may be slower than usual. Please use caution and watch for workers and construction vehicles entering and leaving the roadway. Summerlin Road from Bass Road to John Morris Rd (ROW2022-00185): Andrew Sitework LLC will be performing sidewalk replacement, landscaping, Grading and sodding, and irrigation improvements along Summerlin Road from Just east of Bass Road going West to John Morris Road. The restoration efforts are part of a new underground utility improvements project for Lee County.
Ongoing through February 28, 2023, from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM. The projected end date is March 31, 2023.
Temporary traffic Control devices will be utilized for pedestrian safety as well as that of the contractor’s workforce. Please use caution when traveling through the project. Bonita Beach Road SW @ Imperial Shores – Bonita Springs (ROW 2022-00816): Andrew Sitework LLC will be performing construction on Imperial Shores Blvd starting July 26, 2022, from Bonita Beach Road to Tarpon Avenue. Work will consist of new water main on the west side of Imperial Shores followed by new drainage pipe & structures, sidewalks, curb & gutter, roadway rebuilding on the east side of Imperial Shores. The detour and one-way road on Imperial Shores Blvd. that was in place prior to hurricane Ian will be re-implemented within the next 2 weeks to allow construction to resume. Motorists wishing to access NB Imperial Shores should follow the detour to Imperial River N, to Tarpon Ave. W and travel South on Imperial Shores Blvd. It is estimated that this detour will remain in place until the end of December 2022 until the new underground drainage is installed up to Pine Lake Rd. At that point, work will be performed using “One Lane Road” operations in shorter sections as crews work their way north. Flaggers will be on the roadway directing traffic and motorist are advised to use caution for their safety and safety of the workers. Bonita Beach Road SW between Meadowlark Lane and Windsor Road – Bonita Springs, FL (ROW2022-00329): Bradanna, Inc. will be performing roadway and sidewalk improvements beginning Monday, April 10, 2022, and continuing through Sunday, April 30, 2023. Asphalt pavement, concrete sidewalk, concrete curbing, and drainage improvements will be performed. The outside (right) lane of Eastbound traffic on Bonita Beach Road SW between Meadowlark Lane and Windsor Road will be subject to lane closures. Periodic lane closures for eastbound lanes will occur between the hours of 9:00 AM and 3:30 PM on weekdays. Alico Road Lighting and Landscaping – Fort Myers (Lee County #9269): Bentley Lighting and P&T landscaping crews will be on site throughout the project along Alico Road from Ben Hill Griffin Parkway to just east of ITEC, beginning July 26, 2022, until Wednesday, February 24, 2023. Crews will be working Monday through Saturday from 8:00 AM until 5:00 PM. Crews will be installing light poles along the north and south side the road as well as landscaping and irrigation improvements in the median. Lane closures are not anticipated at this time, but motorists should expect construction vehicles and minor traffic disruptions while construction activities are being performed. North Lee County Wellfield Expansion Phase IIIA Project – Fort Myers (ROW2022-00030).
Nalle Grade Road between Slater Road to Nalle Road – RPU will be continuing with the installation of the Raw Water Main and Fiber Optics Conduit via directional drill from January 9, 2023 thru March 30, 2023. Directional Drill will be performed along Nalle Road from Quail Run heading south towards Sedgefield Road. Southbound lane along Nalle Road will be subject to temporary daily lane closures. Traffic will be maintained with flagmen. Working hours shall be from 7:00 AM to 9:00 PM, Monday through Saturday. Bonita Beach Road, Bonita Springs (ROW2021-00508): Irby Construction will be replacing poles down Bonita Beach Rd for Florida Power and Light beginning February 6, 2023 through March 6, 2023. The outside eastbound lane from Saradrienne Lane to Bonita Grande Drive on Bonita Beach Road will be subject to intermittent lane closures from 7:00 PM to 6:00 AM. Alico Road Curb Cut – Amazon RSW5 (ROW2022-00853): Plateau Excavation, Inc. will be performing the roadway improvements, indicated as 19 ROW Alico Road on the permit, beginning Monday, January 09, 2023 and continue through Friday, March 17, 2023. Accel/Decel Lane, Catch Basin/Culvert Pipe, Curb & Gutter, Sidewalk, Single Entrance, Turn Lane, and Asphalt Pavement improvements will be performed between Lee Road and Domestic Avenue. Storm water work outside of sidewalk/travel lanes will be ongoing from Wednesday, January 11, 2023 through Friday, February 24, 2023. The median demo/install will occur between Monday, January 16, 2023 and will affect the inside lanes travelling east and west between Lee Road and Domestic Avenue on Alico Road. The curb/sidewalk demo for the entrance to Logistics Drive, between Lee Road and Domestic Avenue off Alico Road will occur between Monday, February 6, 2023 and Tuesday, February 28, 2023 and affect the outside travel
lane traveling westbound on Alico Road. Completion of SOD & Striping/Signage will occur between Wednesday, March 1, 2023 and Friday, March 17, 2023 for all improvements. Periodic lane closures will occur during the dates provided and as described for travel lanes between 9:00 PM to 6:00 AM nightly, Monday through Sunday. IMPERIAL SHORES Boulevard – Bonita Springs FL – ROW2022-00816
Starting on January 9, 2023, and continuing through the end of February 2023, Imperial Shores Boulevard will be closed between Gary Road and Pine Lake Road while crews install two (2) large drainage structures with pipe crossing the road and install drainage pipe up too Little Hickory Drive. A detour will be in place with ample signs routing traffic around the work area. Imperial Shores will be open to two-way traffic from Bonita Beach Road to Gary Road and from Pine Lake Road to Tarpon Avenue.
At the end of February 2023, crews with then open the roadway to two-way traffic while they install drainage pipe and make improvements from Gary Road south to near Bonita Beach Road. This work will be performed under a One Lane Road Operation. Flaggers will be in place directing traffic around the work area on the east side of Imperial Shores. This is anticipated to be completed by the end of March 2023.
Starting on April 2023 and continuing through May of 2023, crews will resume construction from Little Hickory working their way north to Esplanade Drive. It will be necessary to close the roadway in small sections and detour traffic around the work area. Ample signs will be in place to safely guide traffic around the work area. The roadway north and south of the work area will be open to two-way traffic.
Starting in June through July of 2023, crews will complete the work from Esplanade to Tarpon Ave under a One Lane Road operation.
Final Construction is scheduled for the end of July with milling and resurfacing of the roadway, new signs and new pavement markings.

Alico Road (ROW2022-01108): Mastec will be setting a pole on Alico Road just east of Oriole Road and west of Three Oaks Parkway. Starting on February 1, 2023/February 3, 2023, there will be a two-lane closure on the eastbound middle and righthand lane on Alico Road. Work will be done between the hours of 8:00 PM – 4:00 AM. Motorist should use caution and expect some delays when work is active.

CORKSCREW ROAD (ROW2021-00003): Mastec will be working on the power line along the east bound lane of Corkscrew Road, approximately 100 ft east of Three Oaks Parkway, and will require an eastbound lane closure starting on Monday, January 30, 2023 and pole will be completed by Friday, February 10, 2023. Lane closures will start at 7:00 PM and will end by 5:00 AM daily until complete with section of job. Oak View Road Widening (Buckingham Road) – Fort Myers (ROW2022-01435): Southern Striping Solutions LLC will be performing roadway widening improvements beginning Tuesday, February 6, 2023, and continue through March 16, 2023. Asphalt pavement widening, embankment, base rock, concrete curbing, and striping will be performed. Both northbound and southbound lanes of Buckingham Road will be subject to lane closures during nighttime milling and paving operations. Periodic lane closures for northbound and southbound lanes will occur between the hours of 9:00 PM and 5:00 AM on weekdays. Lehigh Acres Resurfacing FY22A: Lee County DOT, along with their contractor Community Asphalt will be milling and paving on various roads in Lehigh Acres. Milling and paving will start Tuesday, January 31st, 2023 and will tentatively go through Friday February 3, 2023. Work times will be from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Motorists should use caution, as there will be lane closures and uneven pavement in this area. Please be aware of the advanced warning signs in these areas. Weather may affect start times and dates. 2. Bridge Maintenance
Hancock Bridge Parkway CIPP Project, Cape Coral – Lee County DOT and their contractor Shenandoah General Construction will begin pipelining activities on Hancock Bridge Pkwy January 3, 2023. During the work processes, men and equipment may be temporarily in the roadway. Lane closures will be limited to between the hours of 9:00pm to 5:00am. Therefore, motorists and pedestrians are urged to use extra caution in the area. The activities will begin on January 3, 2023 and continue until February 17, 2023.
