BARTOW, Fla. — This weekly report is prepared by the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) to inform the public about upcoming road work in Southwest Florida. Below are the work schedule and lane closure locations for major state road projects.
Motorists are reminded to wear safety belts and drive with caution, courtesy, common sense, and patience as they travel through work zones. Remember, speeding fines are doubled in work zones.

CHARLOTTE COUNTY
SR 776/El Jobean Road from Myakka River to Willow Bend Drive: Construction project: Crews will mill and resurface, widen medians, replace sidewalk, improve drainage, and replace signing and pavement markings along SR 776/El Jobean Road. Motorists should expect intermittent lane closures during daytime and nighttime/overnight hours through the duration of the project. The expected project completion is early 2024.
US 41 from Midway Boulevard to Paulson Drive: Maintenance project: Motorists should expect intermittent outside northbound closures during nighttime/overnight hours from 8:30 p.m. to 6 a.m. weekdays, while crews perform geotechnical work.
US 41/Tamiami Trail from Payne Street to Rio Villa Drive: Construction project: Motorists should expect intermittent lane closures during daytime and
nighttime/overnight hours while crews resurface the roadway, construct curb, gutter, sidewalk drainage, signage, and signalization improvements.
· Motorists should expect intermittent southbound and northbound lane closures from Aqui Esta Drive to Payne Street during daytime hours from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. and during nighttime/overnight hours from 8 p.m. to 6:30 a.m.
Motorists should use caution as crews work in the roadway. The expected project completion is late fall 2023.
COLLIER COUNTY
I-75 from mile marker 76 to the mile marker 100/toll plaza: Construction project: Crews will widen and resurface the roadway as well as construct new guardrail and animal crossings. Motorists should expect intermittent southbound and northbound lane closures during daytime hours throughout the duration of the project. Motorists should use caution as crews work on the roadway. The expected project completion is spring 2024.
I-75 from the Broward County line to the east of the bridge over Wildlife Crossing #15: Construction project: Crews will resurface the roadway and construct new guardrail and animal crossings. Motorists should expect intermittent southbound and northbound lane closures during daytime hours throughout the duration of the project. Motorists should use caution as crews work on the roadway. The expected project completion is spring 2024.
US 41 at Oasis Visitor Center: Construction project: Crews will construct an eastbound left turn lane from US 41 at the Oasis Visitor Center. Additional improvements include lane widening, guardrail installation, resurfacing, and new signage and pavement markings at the intersection. Motorists should expect intermittent lane closures and shifts during daytime hours from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. throughout the duration of the project. Motorists should use caution as crews work on the roadway. The expected project completion is early 2024.
US 41/Tamiami Trail from Bonita Bay Boulevard to Lake Shore Drive: Maintenance permit project: Motorists should expect intermittent southbound lane closures during daytime hours from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. while crews replace utility poles near the roadway. Motorists should use caution while traveling in this area.
US 41/Tamiami Trail from Davis Boulevard to Courthouse Shadows: Construction project: Improvements include adding mid-block crossings and pedestrian signals, milling and resurfacing, and making sidewalk repairs within the project limits. Motorists should expect lane closures during daytime and nighttime/overnight hours. Expected completion is fall 2023.
US 41 from 10th Street North to 9th Street North: Maintenance permit project: Motorists should expect intermittent northbound and southbound lane closures during nighttime/overnight hours from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. while crews construct underground
utilities. A temporary traffic signal will be installed during construction. Motorists should expect slow moving traffic and possible delays.
US 41 from Tomato Road to CR 92 Maintenance permit project: Motorists should expect intermittent northbound and southbound lane closures during nighttime/overnight hours from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. while crews construct a temporary bypass road. Motorists should expect slow-moving traffic and possible delays.
US 41 at the Treviso Bay Entrance east of Johns Street: Maintenance permit project: Motorists should expect intermittent northbound lane closures during nighttime/overnight hours from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. while crews make turn lane modifications. Motorists should use caution as crews work on the roadway.
SR 84/Davis Boulevard from Ospreys Landing to West Crown Point Boulevard: Maintenance permit project: Motorists should expect intermittent westbound lane closures during nighttime/overnight hours from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. while crews replace underground utilities. Motorists should expect slow-moving traffic and possible delays.
Copeland Avenue from Chokoloskee Bridge to Broadway Avenue: Construction project: Crews will construct sidewalk on the east side of Copeland Avenue from Chokoloskee Bridge to Broadway Avenue. Crews will install temporary signalization within the project. Motorists should expect intermittent lane closures during daytime hours from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. with possible flagging operations throughout the duration of the project. Motorists should use caution as crews work near the roadway. The expected project completion is early 2024.
DESOTO COUNTY
SR 72 from Sarasota County Line to SW Rodgers Avenue: Construction project: Crews will be making improvements to SR 72 including cross slope correction, milling and resurfacing, shoulder reconstruction, miscellaneous drainage, and signing and pavement markings. During construction there will be single lane closures on SR 72 from the Sarasota County Line to SW Rodgers Avenue.
· Motorists should expect intermittent single-lane closures in both directions on SR 72 from the Sarasota County line to SW Rodgers Avenue.
Please use caution in the area and allow extra travel time.
GLADES COUNTY
US 27 from Fisheating Creek to the Highlands County line: Construction project: Crews will be milling and resurfacing US 27 from Fisheating Creek to the Highlands County line. Other improvements include widening, guardrail, and signing and pavement markings. The bridge over Fisheating Creek will be repaired/rehabilitated including pile jacketing and spall repairs. During construction daytime lane closures may occur on US 27.
· Motorists should expect daytime and nighttime intermittent lane closures on US 27 throughout the project limits until project completion.
Please use caution in the construction zone and watch for workers in the work zone.
SR 78 Sidewalks at Various Locations: Construction project: Crews will be installing five-foot sidewalks with a retaining wall along the south side of SR 78 from Access Road to Ben Street and from Chobee Street to Lake Drive and from Linda Road to Buckhead Ridge RV & Boat Storage. Other improvements include signing and pavement markings and drainage improvements. During construction daytime lane closures will occur on SR 78.
· Motorists should expect daily intermittent lane closures on SR 78 throughout the project limits until project completion.
· Road closure: As of Monday, March 6, Lake Drive off SR 78 has been closed at the intersection of SR 78 and Lake Drive. Crews are placing a drainage pipe under the road and a detour is in place. Please follow detour signs and use caution in the area.
Please use caution in the construction zone and watch for workers in the work zone. Estimated completion is fall 2023.
HARDEE COUNTY
SR 636 from west of King Road to west of Shackelford/Airport Road: Maintenance project. Beginning Monday, July 10, through Thursday, July 13, from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., crews will be working on front slopes, cleaning ditches, and repairing washouts on SR 636 from west of King Road to west of Shackelford/Airport Road. Motorists should expect intermittent lane closures in the area. Please follow flagger directions and use caution in the area.
HENDRY COUNTY
None at this time.
HIGHLANDS COUNTY
US 27 from Glades County line to Polk County line: Maintenance contract project: Crews will be mowing and picking up litter along US 27 northbound and southbound from the Glades County line to the Polk County line. Please watch for workers in the work zone and use caution in the area.
US 27 at S. Lakeview Road: Construction project: Crews will be widening US 27 at S. Lakeview Road for off-set left turns. Additional work includes constructing asphalt
bulb-outs and installing a traffic signal at the intersection of US 27 and South Lakeview Road. Please use caution and watch for crews working in the work zone.
· Motorists should expect intermittent single daytime lane closures on northbound and/or southbound US 27 at Lakeview Road Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.
Estimated completion is summer 2023.
US 27 from south of SR 70 to north of SR 70: Construction project: Intersection improvements. Crews will be reconstructing the intersection with concrete pavement, resurfacing SR 70 and US 27 near the intersection, shoulder work, drainage improvements, signalization, and lighting, and signing and pavement markings.
· Motorists should expect daytime and nighttime intermittent lane closures on US 27 and SR 70 near the intersection.
· Upcoming traffic shift: Beginning the night of Sunday, July 16, SR 70 eastbound and westbound traffic will be shifted to the newly constructed travel lanes.
· The driveways for Circle K and the BP Station will be impacted while crews place concrete at the intersection. Motorists will need to access Circle K from SR 70 and BP from US 27. The Circle K driveway off US 27 will be utilized as an Exit Only and the BP driveway off SR 70 will be utilized as an Exit Only.
Estimated completion is summer 2023.
US 27 at Sun Pure Road: Maintenance contract project: Crews will be resurfacing asphalt pavement starting Wednesday, July 5, and will be complete by July 14, 2023. Please be aware of daytime lane closures in the work zone and use caution in the area.
US 98 at Spring Lake Blvd: Maintenance contract project: Crews will be resurfacing asphalt pavement starting July 5 and will be complete by July 14, 2023. Please be aware of daytime lane closures in the work zone and use caution in the area.
SR17 Downtown Sebring at the traffic circle: Maintenance contract project: Crews will be resurfacing asphalt pavement starting July 5 and will be complete by July 14, 2023. Please be aware of daytime lane closures in the work zone and use caution in the area.
SR 17 Downtown Sebring from Kenilworth Boulevard to Helena Avenue: Maintenance contract project: Crews will be restriping pavement markings during the evenings from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. Please watch for workers in the work zone and use caution in the area.
SR 17 Downtown Avon Park from US 27 to Memorial Drive: Maintenance contract project: Crews will be restriping pavement markings during the evenings from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. Please watch for workers in the work zone and use caution in the area.
LEE COUNTY
Pine Island Road Causeway and Bridge Permanent Repairs: Construction project: As part of the Emergency Restoration of the Pine Island Road Causeway and Bridge, motorists can expect temporary, intermittent lane closures with flagging operations along CR 78 Pine Island Road from west of Little Pine Island Bridge (Bridge No. 120111) to West of Shoreview Drive.
· UPDATED: Crews have begun six-day work weeks to complete driving sheet pilings on both the south and north sides of the roadway. Work is expected to last approximately two months.
· A lane shift remains in place east of the Matlacha Pass Bridge. Eastbound traffic has shifted to the westbound lane, and the westbound traffic has shifted to the newly paved, temporary lane.
· Pedestrians and bicyclists are not permitted within the construction zone.
· Noise from construction equipment in the area is to be expected.
· Please use caution and watch for workers and construction vehicles entering and exiting the roadway.
· Please be patient and plan for additional travel time as it may be slower than usual in the area.

Sanibel Causeway Emergency Restoration: As a part of the Emergency Restoration of the Sanibel Causeway, crews continue work on McGregor Boulevard and the Sanibel Causeway from Port Comfort Road to Sanibel Island. The causeway islands surrounding the temporary roadway are an active work zone and are currently closed for public access, including from the water.
· As work progresses, motorists should expect isolated flagging operations on the Causeway during the nighttime/overnight hours of 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.
· Crews continue driving sheet pile near the causeway islands.
· Motorists should expect periodic daytime delays for delivery/removal of materials and equipment, and for crews to remove trash from the roadway.
· Crews continue earthwork on the causeway islands.
Many oversized vehicles are crossing the causeway to assist with recovery efforts on the island. Please be patient as travel may be slower than usual. Bicyclists are encouraged to utilize another mode of transportation to travel the causeway and pedestrians are not permitted on the Sanibel Causeway. Expect shoulder closures throughout the project. MOTORISTS ARE REMINDED TO OBEY THE POSTED SPEED LIMIT OF 20 MPH. Please use caution and watch for workers and construction vehicles entering and leaving the roadway.
I-75 Wrong Way Driver at various locations: Construction project: Crews are constructing Wrong Way Driver systems at various intersections along I-75 at the following locations: I-75 at Terminal Access Road, Daniels Parkway, Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, Luckett Road, and Bayshore Road. Motorists should expect intermittent lane closures during daytime hours from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. throughout the duration of the project. Motorists should use caution as crews work near the roadway. The expected project completion is early 2024.
I-75 at Colonial Boulevard (mile marker 136): Construction project: Crews begin construction on the I-75 at Colonial Boulevard Diverging Diamond Interchange (DDI) Project. Other improvements along Colonial Boulevard include a Continuous Flow Intersection (CFI) at the intersection of Six Mile Cypress Parkway/Ortiz Avenue and a Superstreet intersection at the Colonial Boulevard/Forum Boulevard intersection. I-75 will also be widened to provide an auxiliary lane in each direction from Colonial Boulevard to SR 82/Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard. The off-ramps at Colonial Boulevard DDI and the northbound offramp at SR 82 will have emergency stopping sites.
· Motorists should expect intermittent lane closures on I-75 and the on and off ramps at SR 884/Colonial Boulevard during nighttime/overnight hours from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. through the duration of construction.
· Motorists should expect intermittent lane closures on SR 884/Colonial Boulevard during the nighttime/overnight hours from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. through the duration of the construction.
Drivers should exercise caution and be aware of construction vehicles entering and exiting the roadway throughout the duration of the project. The expected completion date is mid-2024.
US 41/Tamiami Trail from Wake Fern Drive to the Imperial River Boat Ramp: Maintenance contract project: Motorists should expect intermittent northbound and southbound lane closures during nighttime/overnight hours from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. Monday, June 26 through Saturday, July 8 while crews perform maintenance to stormwater systems. Motorists should use caution as crews work near the roadway.
US 41/Cleveland Avenue Wrong Way Driver at various locations: Construction project: Crews are constructing Wrong Way Driver systems at various intersections along US 41 at the following locations: US 41 at Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and First Street. Motorists should expect intermittent lane closures during daytime hours from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. throughout the duration of the project. Motorists should use caution as crews work near the roadway. The expected project completion is early 2024.
US 41 from south of Hickory Drive to Emerson Square Boulevard: Construction project: Crews are resurfacing the roadway and reconstructing medians at Hickory Drive, San Carlos Boulevard, Shadow Creek Boulevard, and Harborage Drive.
· Motorists should expect intermittent lane closures through the duration of the project.
· Crews will be installing underground utilities at San Carlos Boulevard, Sanibel Boulevard, and Constitution Boulevard.
· Pedestrians should expect sidewalk detours as crews construct improvements to sidewalk and signals.
The resurfacing will be done overnight/nighttime between 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. Motorists should use caution as crews work near the roadway. The expected project completion is early 2024.
US 41/Cleveland Avenue from Winkler Avenue to SR 82/Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard. Construction project: Crews will be installing and relocating utilities and constructing medians on US 41/Cleveland Avenue from Winkler Avenue to SR 82.
· Expect Crawford Street closed on the east side of US 41/Cleveland Avenue.
· Expect Lafayette Street closed on the east side of US 41/Cleveland Avenue.
· Expect Johnson Street closed on the west side of US 41/Cleveland Avenue.
· Expect Edison Avenue closed on the west side of US 41/Cleveland Avenue.
· Motorists should expect side road closures from Winkler Avenue to Victoria Avenue throughout the duration of the project.
· Motorists should expect intermittent northbound and southbound lane closures and detours on US 41/Cleveland Avenue during daytime and nighttime/overnight hours Monday through Friday throughout the duration of the project.
Additional work includes installing drainage structures, pedestrian signals, upgrading signals and lighting, and resurfacing existing highway. The project will be constructed in three segments. Each segment will have most of the construction completed prior to moving to the next segment. Crews will work on the west side of the road initially and when that work is completed, they will shift to the east side of Cleveland Avenue/US 41. The expected project completion is late 2023.
US 41 from Bonita Beach Road to Pondella Road: Construction project: Crews will be improving the lighting systems at the following intersections along US 41: Bonita Beach Road, Center of Bonita Springs Plaza/Boston Road, West Terry Street, South Bay Drive, Bernwood Parkway, Timberwilde Drive, Pelican Landing Parkway, Sanibel Boulevard, Constitution Boulevard, Bell Tower Road, Big Pine Way, Crystal Drive, Palm Drive, Beacon Manor Drive, South Airport Road, Boy Scout Drive, Sam’s Plaza, North Airport Road, North Key Drive, Hancock Bridge Parkway, and Pondella Road. Motorists should expect possible intermittent lane closures during daytime hours through the duration of the project. Motorists should use caution as crews work alongside the roadway. Estimated project completion is fall 2023.
SR 884/Colonial Boulevard from US 41/Cleveland Avenue to Evans Avenue: Maintenance permit project: Motorists should expect intermittent eastbound lane closures while crews replace utility poles in the area. Motorists should use caution while traveling in this area.
SR 865/San Carlos Boulevard at CR 869/Summerlin Road: Hurricane Ian maintenance project: Motorists should expect intermittent lane closures while crews perform repairs beneath the roadway. Police officers will be on site to direct traffic as needed. Please use caution and expect delays while traveling through this area.
SR 739/Metro Parkway at Daniels Parkway: Maintenance project: Motorists should expect intermittent lane closures from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. while crews perform pipe/culvert maintenance. Motorists should use caution as crews work near the roadway.
SR 739/Metro Parkway at Daniels Parkway: Maintenance project: As part of the emergency restoration due to Hurricane Ian, crews will be repairing signals at the intersection. Motorists should expect intermittent lane closures during daytime hours from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays. Motorists should expect slow-moving traffic and possible delays.
SR 82/Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard from Buckingham Road to Colonial Boulevard/Lee Boulevard: Maintenance permit project: Motorists should expect intermittent northbound and southbound lane closures during nighttime/overnight hours from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. while crews construct turn lanes. Motorists should use caution while traveling in this area.
SR 82/Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard from SR 884/Colonial Boulevard to Wallace Avenue: Maintenance permit project: Motorists should expect intermittent outside eastbound lane closures while crews store debris near the roadway. Motorists should use caution while traveling in this area.
SR 80/Palm Beach Boulevard at Old Olga Road: Maintenance permit project: Motorists should expect intermittent eastbound and westbound lane closures during nighttime/overnight hours from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. while crews widen the roadway and construct a turn lane. Motorists should use caution while traveling in this area.
SR 31/Babcock Ranch Road from Shirley Lane to Greenway Boulevard: Maintenance permit project: Motorists should expect intermittent northbound lane closures during daytime hours from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. while crews construct driveways in the area. Motorists should use caution as crews work near the roadway.
State Roadways (US 41, SR 31, SR 78, SR 80, SR 82, SR 739, SR 865, and SR 867): Maintenance contract project: Crews are sweeping curb and gutter on state roadways and bridges. Motorists should expect lane closures during nighttime/overnight hours from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. Motorists should expect slow-moving traffic and possible delays.
MANATEE COUNTY
I-75 at US 301 Interchange (Exit 224): Construction project: Project will widen the I-75 from SR 64 to the Manatee River, reconfigure the I-75/US 301 interchange from a partial cloverleaf interchange to a tight diamond configuration, construct new bridges will be constructed over the Manatee River for a northbound exit ramp and a southbound entrance ramp, and US 301 improvements. This week, crews will work on resurfacing and restriping I-75, US 301 work, and pile driving for the construction of the new southbound on-ramp bridge over the Manatee River and Salt Marsh Bridge.
· Motorists should expect single lane closures on I-75 northbound during nighttime/overnight hours from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. through the duration of the construction; double closures on I-75 southbound during the nighttime/overnight hours from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. through the duration of the construction.
· Motorists should expect double lane closures on I-75 northbound during nighttime/overnight hours from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. through the duration of the construction; double closures on I-75 southbound during the nighttime/overnight hours from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. through the duration of the construction.
· Motorists should expect lane closures on US 301 during nighttime/overnight hours from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. through the duration of the construction.
· Motorists should expect lane closures on Tidewater Preserve Boulevard through the duration of bridge construction.
· Motorists should expect lane shifts on I-75 and US 301 through the duration of the construction.
· Drivers should exercise caution and be aware of construction vehicles entering and exiting the interstate through the duration of the construction.
Variable message signs will be in place to alert drivers that work is underway. Estimated completion is early 2025.
I-275 at US 41 (Exit 2): Construction project: Project improvements include a new traffic signal at I-275 southbound off-ramp and replacing a traffic signal at I-275 northbound off-ramp, pedestrian accommodations, and resurfacing within project limits. This week, crews will work on signal components.
· Motorists should expect single and double lane closures on US 41 during nighttime/overnight hours from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. through the duration of the construction.
· Motorists should expect ramp closures at I-275 at US 41 during nighttime/overnight hours from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. through the duration of the construction.
· Motorists should expect lane shifts on I-275 and US 41 through the duration of the construction.
· Drivers should exercise caution and be aware of construction vehicles entering and exiting the interstate through the duration of the construction.
Variable message signs will be in place to alert drivers that work is underway.
US 41 from 17th to Bayshore Road/ 26th Street, including the 23rd Street Roundabout, Palmetto: Construction: Work is underway, so please use caution in the construction zone and be alert for construction equipment in the area. Construction crews will be working at the intersection of US 41 BUS and 23rd Street.
· Paving is expected to start July 20, 2023.
· Motorists can expect temporary daytime lane closures from north of 17th Street to just past 23rd Street throughout the duration of the project.
· Lanes have shifted with areas of uneven payment. Please be cautious in the construction zone and reduce speed.
US 301 from 60th Avenue East to Erie Road / Old Tampa Road: Construction: Motorists can expect nighttime lane closures for paving operations throughout the project limits from 9 PM to 6:30 AM. There will also be daytime work on the signals that should not impact motorists. Motorists can expect construction vehicles in and out of the right-of-way limits. The scheduled completion is in August of 2023.
· Starting Sunday, July 10, through Thursday, July 14, there will be overnight paving on US 301 from 9 p.m. to 6:30 a.m. Expect temporary delays and allow additional travel time.
SR 62 Eastbound at Spencer Parrish Road to Hardee County Line: Maintenance: Starting Monday, July 10, through Thursday, July 13, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., crews will be shoulder blading. Motorists should expect lane closures (flagging operation) and shoulder closures. These closures will consist of intermittent taper shifts affecting east and westbound traffic.
SR 684 Cortez Road from US 41/14th Street to 30th Avenue West: Permit project: Manatee County will be removing and installing new landscaping within the median. There will be intermittent north and south bound inside lane closures through the end of July from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Please watch for lane shifts and allow extra travel time.
OKEECHOBEE COUNTY
SR 70 at SE 10th Avenue: Driveway permit project: Crews are re-constructing sidewalks and modifying utilities. Watch for workers close to and in the roadway.
SE 28th Street (Charles Harvey Boulevard) from US 441 to SE 18th Terrace: Construction project: Crews will make improvements to SE 28th Street from US 441 to SE 18th Terrace. Improvements include construction of sidewalks on the north side of SE 28th Street (Charles Harvey Boulevard). Crews will also reconstruct the roadway and driveways in various locations, improve drainage, and install signing and pavement markings.
· Motorists should expect intermittent daytime shoulder closures on SE 28th Steet and SE 32nd Street and intermittent nighttime lane closures between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. on 28th Steet and SE 32nd Street during construction.
Please use caution in the area and watch for workers in the construction zone. Estimated completion is fall 2023.
US 98 from north of NW 80th Avenue to SR 70: Construction project: Crews will resurface the roadway on US 98 from north of NW 80th Avenue to US 98. Additional work includes shoulder treatments, roadway reconstruction at the railroad, sidewalk, traffic signals and signing and pavement markers.
· Motorists should expect intermittent daytime and nighttime single lane closures on US 98 from north of NW 80th Avenue to US 98 and on SR 70 during construction.

POLK COUNTY
I-4 from CR 557/Old Glade Road (Exit 48) to Osceola County: Construction project: Crews will resurface I-4, upgrade or replace sections of guardrail and shoulder, install new signing and roadway pavement markings, and install vehicle detection systems and traffic monitoring sites at various locations. This week, crews will work on resurfacing.
· Motorists should expect single lane closures on I-4 during nighttime/overnight hours:
o Sundays through Thursdays: from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.
o Fridays and Saturdays: from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.
· Motorists should expect double lane closures on I-4 during nighttime/overnight hours:
o Sundays through Thursdays: from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m.
o Fridays and Saturdays: from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m.
· Motorists should expect ramp closures on I-4 during nighttime/overnight hours from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. through the duration of the construction.
· Motorists should expect lane shifts on I-4 through the duration of the construction.
· Drivers should exercise caution and be aware of construction vehicles entering and exiting the interstate through the duration of the construction.
Variable message signs will be in place to alert drivers that work is underway. Estimated completion is late 2023.
I-4 at SR 557 Interchange (Exit 48): Construction project: This project includes reconstructing the interchange from an existing cloverleaf interchange to a diamond interchange with roundabouts at the ramps, replacing the two-lane bridge with a four-lane bridge, modifying SR 557 and I-4 within the interchange area and adding a new wildlife crossing under I-4. I-4 at CSX Railroad Bridge approximately 1200 feet west of Kathleen Road (Exit 31): Construction project: This project includes replacing the existing 250-foot bridge with two new 400-foot bridges to provide for CSX double tracking and will accommodate future expansion of I-4. This week the contractor will remove embankment requiring the eastbound exit ramp at Kathleen Road to be closed.
· RAMP CLOSED: Eastbound exit ramp from I-4 to SR 539/Kathleen Road (Exit 32) will be closed from 9 p.m. Monday night, July 10 through 5 a.m., Tuesday morning, July 11.
· DETOUR: Eastbound motorists wanting to exit at Kathleen Road should follow the posted detour and exit at US 92 (Exit 28), head east to Wabash Avenue (US 92) then south to George Jenkins Boulevard (SR 600) then east to Kathleen Road (SR 539).
· The exit ramp closure is necessary while crews remove embankment as part of the CSX Bridge over I-4 Replacement project. Use caution and add extra time to reach your destination.
US 98 at Colbert Road/Lake Hancock Road: Construction project: This project includes adding a new signal at US 98 and Colbert Road/Lake Hancock Road, improving intersection lighting, installing pedestrian signal and high-visibility crosswalks and resurfacing the intersection and striping for bike lanes at right turn lanes. Crews will be working on the final punch list items for the next few weeks. Use caution and watch for workers and equipment close to the road.
US 98 from Mount Zion Road to east of Old Stokes Road and from Keller Road to west of Ridge Road: Construction project: Project improvements include removing the old asphalt and resurfacing, drainage and shoulder improvements, tree removal and guardrail repairs. The contractor will begin resurfacing US 98. Watch for daytime lane closures with flaggers directing traffic. Use caution and be prepared to stop.
US 92 from Ariana Avenue to Main Street: Maintenance permits project: Watch for outside nighttime/overnight lane closures starting Wednesday, July 12, for driveway and sidewalk work. Use caution and watch for workers close to the road.
US 92 from US17/Lake Alfred to Combee Road: Maintenance contracts project: Watch for eastbound and westbound lane closures from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and 8 p.m. to 5 a.m., Monday, through Saturday, August 1, as crews clean storm drains. Use caution and be prepared to merge or stop.
US 92 from Recker Highway to Alabama Lane: Maintenance permits project: Watch for periodic nighttime/overnight lane closures in the westbound lanes from 7:30 p.m., Wednesday, July 19 through 5:30 a.m., Thursday, July 20, for driveway removal and curb installation. Use caution and be prepared to merge or stop.
US 92 (East Memorial Boulevard) from Fish Hatchery Road to Reynolds Road: Construction project: Project improvements include milling and resurfacing the roadway and side street entrances, widening the side street entrance at Fish Hatchery Road north of US 92, removing the median opening at Thompson Road an improving roadway drainage. This week crews will continue constructing curb in the median during the day. North Fish Hatchery Road will be closed at East Memorial Boulevard so the contractor can begin widening the entrance to the roadway. Motorists will be detoured west to County Road 33A. Use caution and watch for workers and equipment close to the road.
US 27 at SR 60 Interchange: Construction project: Crews will replace the bridges carrying SR 60 over US 27 and reconstruct the interchange from a partial
cloverleaf design to a Single Point Urban Interchange. Other improvements include widening the roadways from four lanes to six 11-foot lanes, bicycle lanes, curb and gutter, a closed drainage system, and six-foot sidewalks. Crews will construct an urban frontage road in the southwest quadrant along SR 60 for access to local businesses. The project also includes construction of a noise wall along SR 60 from South Miami Street to west of Sharp Street, resurfacing Central Avenue from west of US 27 to Miami Street, installing signals, lighting, signage and pavement markings on US 27 and SR 60. Daytime and nighttime lane closures will occur on US 27 and SR 60 during construction.
· The new ramp on SR 60 eastbound to US 27 is open. Frontage Road no longer has access to US 27. If traveling on SR 60 eastbound, motorists wishing to access US 27 must use the new ramp. Please follow the signage.
· Motorists should expect intermittent lane closures on SR 60 eastbound and westbound while crews work in that area.
· Traffic Shift: Beginning Sunday, July 9, 2023, SR 60 eastbound, on the east side of the bridge, traffic will be shifted to accommodate the SR 60 construction between the ramp from US 27 and Sharp Street.

US 17 from Spirit Lake Road to Bomber Road: Construction project: The improvements under this project include reconstructing the intersection of US 17 and Spirit Lake Road with concrete, milling and resurfacing, adding lighting, upgrading signal equipment, and relocating utilities.

US 17 at Crystal Beach Road: Construction project: Construction on this project includes closing the full median opening and building a directional median opening for drivers turning left to and from Crystal Beach Road, adding a northbound acceleration lane, widening the southbound right turn lane and separating it from the travel lanes, removing the southbound left turn lane and resurfacing the southbound lanes, replacing lighting and improving drainage features west of US 17. The contractor has reopened the median at Crystal Beach Road but may close it periodically as needed for final work at the intersection. SR 570 (Polk Parkway) from I-4 to Old Dixie Highway: Construction project: Florida’s Turnpike Enterprise is converting an 18-mile portion of Polk Parkway/SR 570 to electronic tolling between I-4 and Old Dixie Highway/CR 546 in Polk County. This project includes constructing three new toll gantries at the Western Mainline (milepost 8), Central Mainline (milepost 13), and SR 540 New Mainline (milepost 15.5), removing cash toll collections and replacing them with SunPass and TOLL-BY-PLATE and demolishing the existing Western and Central Mainline toll plazas. Work is anticipated to be completed in mid-2024. This is a Florida Turnpike Enterprise project. SR 570 (Polk Parkway) from US 92 to I-4: Construction project: Florida’s Turnpike Enterprise is widening a four-mile segment of Polk Parkway/SR 570 to four lanes, between Old Dixie Highway/CR 546 and south of Pace Road and resurfacing the existing 4-lane portions between US 92 and I-4 in Polk County. This project includes constructing a new interchange at Polk Parkway and Braddock Road, widening Braddock Road from west of Polk Parkway to Berkley Road and constructing new electronic tolling points on Polk Parkway and Braddock Road ramps. Work also consists of resurfacing the ramps at CR 546, improving signage, pavement markings, signalization lighting and drainage throughout the project and improving local roads including the realignment of the City of Auburndale Water Treatment Plant access road and the neighborhood access road south of Braddock Road, as well as minor resurfacing on Berkley Road at the Braddock Road intersection. SR 540 (Cypress Gardens Boulevard) from east of US 17 to west of 1st Street: Construction project: Improvements under this Contract consist of resurfacing US 17, SR 540 and 1st Street, adding turn lanes, lengthening existing turn lanes, replacing the temporary traffic separators with a permanent concrete traffic separator on SR 540, improving crosswalk striping and adding pedestrian countdown signals, upgrading signal equipment and replacing streetlights with LED lights. This week, crews will install storm drains.
· SR 540 westbound approaching US 17 is reduced to one lane through the first week of August. Motorists should use caution and expect some delays.

SARASOTA
I-75 at SR 72/Clark Road (Exit 205): Construction project: Project improvements include reconstructing the existing interchange to a Diverging Diamond Interchange (DDI), adding auxiliary lane on I-75 northbound from SR 72 to Bee Ridge Road, widen I-75 southbound from Proctor Road to SR 72, and improvements on Clark Road. This week, crews will work on the ramps, retaining walls, and paving the I-75 shoulders.
· Motorists should expect single lane closures on I-75 during nighttime/overnight hours from 7 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. bound through the duration of the construction.
· Motorists should expect double lane closures on I-75 during nighttime/overnight hours from 10 p.m. to 4:30 a.m. through the duration of the construction.

US 41 South between South Palm Avenue and Hudson Avenue: Permit project: Through the end of September 2023, crews will be working at the Marie Selby Gardens extending existing turn lanes, adding right turn lanes, making drainage improvements, adding signalization improvements, landscaping improvements, street lighting improvements and signing and pavement improvements. Motorists should expect temporary inside and outside lane closures as well as overnight lane closures from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. Please use particular caution in the area and watch for pedestrians, bicyclists and workers.
US 41 from Beneva Road to Caribbean Drive: Construction project: Construction on US 41 from Beneva Road to Caribbean Drive is making median modifications, widening paved shoulders, adding turn lanes to accommodate six-foot wide bicycle lanes and adding sidewalks along the 1.37-mile section of road. Modifications will be made to existing traffic signals and crosswalks to support bicycle lanes and new sidewalks.
· Crews are in the final stages so temporary lane closures may be needed.
US 41 from Caribbean Drive to Stickney Point: Construction: Construction on the next phase along a 1.4-mile area of US 41 from Caribbean Drive to Stickney Point Road has begun. Work consists of implementing safety improvements along the corridor, including resurfacing, lighting and signalization, median improvements, improved drainage, shoulder reconstruction, improved sidewalks, improved bicycle lanes, and curb and gutter improvements. As utility work is completed construction work will increase.
US 41 at Gulfstream Avenue Roundabout: Landscaping project: Now that the construction project is complete, a separate contract will begin to provide landscaping. This will take approximately four months. Most lane closures will be during overnight hours, and noise from landscaping vehicles and lighting are to be expected.
US 41 at Wellen Park Village Roundabouts: Permit project: A traffic shift is in place so please pay close attention through the construction zones. A lane shift is in place for approximately six (6) months. Consider alternate routes or add additional travel time during peak hours.
· Upcoming construction of right turn lanes will require lane closures. Expect slow moving traffic or consider alternate routes.
SR 777 River Road from I-75 to US 41: Construction project: Motorists can expect pond excavation near Venice Avenue and just north of Rambler’s Rest RV Park on the northbound roadway and near West Villages Parkway on the southbound roadway. Embankment activities continue on the southbound roadway from US 41 to Stoney Creek Boulevard and curb and gutter is being installed at various areas on southbound roadway. Trucks will be crossing the road at various locations using intermittent flagging operations. Drainage installation will also continue throughout the project, electrical conduit is being installed in various locations and signal posts and arms are being constructed. Traffic is scheduled to be shifted slightly from Stoney Creek Boulevard to just south of I-75 overnight Sunday, July 9, depending on weather. Please pay attention to the signs. Removal of old roadway will follow traffic shift.
SR 758 Midnight Pass from Stickney Point to Shadow Lawn Way: Construction project: Work is underway for a 1.6-mile roadway and safety improvement project on Midnight Pass Road (SR 758) from Stickney Point Road (SR 72)to Shadow Lawn Way in Sarasota County. Work will consist of milling and resurfacing, shoulder/turn lane widening, sidewalk replacement, drainage improvements, signing and pavement markings, and signal and lighting improvements. Project completion is expected by fall 2023.
· Overnight milling and resurfacing will continue.
· Motorists, pedestrians and bicyclists should use caution due to uneven pavement.
· Work will start at approximately 8 p.m. depending on traffic levels and go until approximately 5 a.m. Traffic will be reduced to one lane with flagging operations. Allow extra time.
· Expect noise/ light from construction equipment throughout the duration.
· Temporary lane closures or flagging operations could be necessary throughout the duration of the project.
SR 681 from I-75 to US 41: Construction project: Crews are completing the placement of silt fence along the 2.8 stretch of roadway in preparation for construction. The resurfacing project will also improve drainage, provide a cross-slope correction for leveling and comfort, new guardrail, updated signing and marking, install intelligent transportation equipment and signalization.
· During resurfacing of the highway, on- and off-ramps will require limited overnight detours.
· Paving is expected to begin in mid-July.
· Motorists should expect temporary lane closures for the duration of the project.
· Noise from construction equipment should be anticipated for the duration.
SR 72 Clark Road at Proctor Road and Dove Avenue Roundabout: Construction project: Traffic is now in the roundabout configuration and the speed through the roundabout has been reduced to 25 MPH. Motorists can expect occasional lane closures or flagging operations while crews perform final work.
SR 72 Clark Road at Stickney Point from west of US 41 to Glencoe Avenue: Permit project: Crews are installing traffic signals. No lane closures are expected.
