Storm Stories:A Juried Exhibition

Runs: Sept. 1 through Sept. 30

What it’s about: A juried exhibition in conjunction with its Storm Stories oral history program about Hurricane Ian and its aftermath. The show will feature 53 works of art from Florida artists.

F*ckup Nights

Runs: Sept. 8

Time: 7 to 9 p.m.

Location: Alliance for the Arts

What it’s about: Some of Southwest Florida’s best-known artists, makers, movers, and shakers share the biggest failure of their careers, what went wrong, and what they learned. After each story, there will be time for questions to allow curiosity and conversation to flourish.

Healing Massage or Reiki

Dates: Sept. 9, 16, 23, and 30

Time: 10 a.m. to noon

Location: Alliance for the Arts

What it’s about: Alliance for the Arts is hosting four Saturday sessions where professional massage and Reiki therapists donate their time to provide 15-minute sessions for people who were impacted by Hurricane Ian.

Wednesday Night Market

Date: Sept. 13

Time: 5 to 8 p.m.

Location: Alliance for the Arts

What it’s about: Every second Wednesday of the month Alliance for the Arts presents a pop-up Night Market featuring a selection of fresh produce, art, live music, food trucks and beer and wine.

Open Mic at Wednesday Night Market

Date: Sept. 13

Time: 5 to 8 p.m.

Location: Alliance for the Arts

What it’s about: Open Mic at the Night Market celebrates local musicians and performing artists. Audiences can enjoy live performances in a vibrant atmosphere. Performers can register online to participate. Basic sound system is provided. Limited to one song or five minutes per performer.

Three Song Stories LIVE – with guest Terry Tincher

Date: Sept. 16

Time: 6 to 9 p.m.

Location: Alliance for the Arts

What it’s about: Three Song Stories is an exploration of the power music has to connect us to times, places, people, and emotions from our lives. The show brings out the guests’ personalities, and personal histories, by mining the connections music has made during their lifetimes. It’s also a chance to sit back and listen to the eclectic mix of songs the guests have chosen for their ultimate musical memory short list.

Vamonos de Parche

Date: Sept. 17

Time: 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Location: Alliance for the Arts

What it’s about: Alliance for the Arts celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month with Vamonos de Parche. Food trucks, games, music, kids activities and raffles. AFTA shows appreciation for the culinary and performing arts, while cultivating community connections and supporting small and local businesses of Fort Myers. Guests will experience cultural foods from your local Southwest Florida community at a fun, free, and family-friendly event.

Youth Theatre Presents: Addams Family Young@Part

Runs: Sept. 29 to Oct. 1

Times: 7:30 p.m. and 2 p.m.

What it’s about: Celebrate the wackiness in every family with the Alliance’s best-selling Broadway musical adapted for middle school-age performers.
