BARTOW, Fla. — This weekly report is prepared by the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) to inform the public about upcoming road work in Southwest Florida. Below are the work schedule and lane closure locations for major state road projects.
Motorists are reminded to wear safety belts and drive with caution, courtesy, common sense, and patience as they travel through work zones. Remember, speeding fines are doubled in work zones.

CHARLOTTE COUNTY
SR 776/El Jobean Road from Myakka River to Willow Bend Drive: Construction project: Crews will mill and resurface, widen medians, replace sidewalk, improve drainage, and replace signing and pavement markings along SR 776/El Jobean Road.
Motorists should expect intermittent nighttime lane closures on SR776/El Jobean Road starting at 7 p.m. Daytime lane closures throughout the duration of the project, except between 3 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
Motorists should anticipate nighttime lane closures starting September 29 through September 29, 2023, at 7 p.m.
The expected project completion is early 2024.
US 41 from Midway Boulevard to Paulson Drive: Maintenance project: Motorists should expect intermittent outside northbound closures during nighttime/overnight hours from 8:30 p.m. to 6 a.m. weekdays, while crews perform geotechnical work.
Main Street to Peace River Bridge: Motorists should expect intermittent lane closures during daytime and nighttime/overnight hours while crews resurface the roadway, construct curb, gutter, sidewalk, lanes widenings, drainage, signage, Street Light, and signalization improvements.
Motorists should expect intermittent southbound and northbound lane closures from Aqui Esta Drive to Payne Street during daytime hours from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. and during nighttime/overnight hours from 8 p.m. to 6:30 a.m.
Motorists should use caution as crews work on the roadway. The expected project completion is late fall 2023.
US 41/Tamiami Trail from Payne Street to Rio Villa Drive: Motorists should expect intermittent lane closures during daytime and nighttime/overnight hours while crews resurface the roadway, construct curb, gutter, sidewalk, lanes widenings, drainage, signage, Street Light, and signalization improvements.
Motorists should expect intermittent southbound and northbound lane closures from Aqui Esta Drive to Payne Street during daytime hours from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. and during nighttime/overnight hours from 8 p.m. to 6:30 a.m.

US 17 from Piper Road to West of Golf Course Road: Construction: Crews will be constructing new turn lanes as well as milling and resurfacing existing roadway on US 17. Motorists should expect intermittent eastbound lane closures during daytime and nighttime hours. Motorists should expect slow-moving traffic and possible delays.
COLLIER COUNTY
I-75 from mile marker 76 to the mile marker 100/Toll Plaza: Construction project: Crews will widen and resurface the roadway as well as construct new guardrail and wildlife crossings.
Motorists should expect intermittent southbound and northbound lane closures during daytime hours throughout the duration of the project.
Motorists should use caution as crews work on the roadway. The expected project completion is spring 2024.
I-75 from the Broward County line to the east of the bridge over Wildlife Crossing #15: Construction project: Crews will widen and resurface the roadway as well as construct new guardrail and wildlife crossings.
Motorists should expect intermittent southbound and northbound lane closures during daytime hours throughout the duration of the project.
Motorists should use caution as crews work on the roadway. The expected project completion is spring 2024.
I-75 at SR 951/Collier Boulevard (exit 101) Interchange Improvements: Construction: FDOT is reconstructing the I-75 southbound on- and off-ramp connections and the northbound on-ramp connection to the mainline lanes at SR 951 (exit 101). The northeast quadrant loop ramp will be connected to, and accessible only by, a direct flyover ramp from northbound Collier Boulevard starting south of the Davis Boulevard intersection. This single-lane flyover ramp will carry traffic over Beck Boulevard and a reconstructed I-75 southbound on-ramp. A single-lane flyover ramp extension will carry I-75 southbound traffic over Davis Boulevard to a new signalized intersection at Collier Boulevard and Business Circle North. This ramp will extend along the western side of Collier Boulevard.
Through Friday, September 22, motorists should expect overnight lane closures from 9:30 p.m. to 6 a.m. on southbound SR 951 from Magnolia Pond Drive to Davis Boulevard for utility relocations. This lane closure will include the inside right turn lane for the southbound off ramp at exit 101.
Through Friday, October 06, during the nighttime/overnight hours of 9:30 p.m. to 6 a.m., motorists should expect a lane closure on westbound Beck Boulevard from Tollhouse Drive to Collier Boulevard (SR 951) for utility relocations.
Crews are also currently constructing the noise wall on the south side of I-75, just west of the interchange. The contractor does not expect impacts to traffic with this activity.
Please use caution and watch for workers and construction vehicles entering and leaving the roadway. The expected completion date is spring 2026.
US 41 at Oasis Visitor Center: Construction project: Crews will construct an eastbound left turn lane from US 41 at the Oasis Visitor Center. Additional improvements include lane widening, guardrail installation, resurfacing, and new signage and pavement markings at the intersection.
Motorists should expect intermittent lane closures and shifts during daytime hours from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. throughout the duration of the project.
Motorists should use caution as crews work on the roadway. The expected project completion is early 2024.
Shoulder closures and bicyclists flagging operation during daytime working operations.
US 41/Tamiami Trail from Davis Boulevard to Courthouse Shadows: Construction project: Improvements include adding mid-block crossings and pedestrian signals, milling, and resurfacing, and making sidewalk repairs within the project limits.
Motorists should expect lane closures during daytime and nighttime/overnight hours.
Expected completion is fall 2023.
US 41 from 10th Street North to 9th Street North: Maintenance permit project: Motorists should expect intermittent northbound and southbound lane closures during nighttime/overnight hours from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. while crews construct underground utilities. A temporary traffic signal will be installed during construction. Motorists should expect slow-moving traffic and possible delays.
US 41 from Tomato Road to CR 92: Maintenance permit project: Motorists should expect intermittent northbound and southbound lane closures during nighttime/overnight hours from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. while crews construct a temporary bypass road. Motorists should expect slow-moving traffic and possible delays.
US 41 at the Treviso Bay Entrance east of Johns Street: Maintenance permit project: Motorists should expect intermittent northbound lane closures during nighttime/overnight hours from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. while crews make turn lane modifications. Motorists should use caution as crews work on the roadway.
SR 84/Davis Boulevard from Ospreys Landing to West Crown Point Boulevard: Maintenance permit project: Motorists should expect intermittent westbound lane closures during nighttime/overnight hours from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. while crews replace underground utilities. Motorists should expect slow-moving traffic and possible delays.
SR 670 9th Street North to Tamiami Trail: Maintenance permit project: Motorists should expect intermittent southbound lane closures during nighttime/overnight hours from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. while crews construct a turn lane. Motorists should expect slow-moving traffic. Motorists should expect to work during weekends from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m.
Collier Boulevard from Business Circle South to Business Circle North: Maintenance permit project: Motorists should expect intermittent lane closures and slow-moving traffic during daytime hours from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Motorists should expect intermittent lane closures n weekend days from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Please use caution as crews work near the roadway.
Copeland Avenue from Chokoloskee Bridge to Broadway Avenue: Construction project: Crews will construct sidewalk on the east side of Copeland Avenue from Chokoloskee Bridge to Broadway Avenue. Crews will install temporary signalization within the project.
Motorists should expect intermittent lane closures during daytime hours from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. with possible flagging operations throughout the duration of the project.
Motorists should use caution as crews work near the roadway. The expected project completion is early 2024.
US 41 From East of Whistler’s Cove Boulevard to West of Collier Boulevard: Motorists should expect nighttime lane closures on September 25, 2023. The Contractor will only close turning lanes as needed.
DESOTO COUNTY
SR 72 from Sarasota County Line to SW Rodgers Avenue: Construction project: Crews will be making improvements to SR 72 including cross slope correction, milling and resurfacing, shoulder reconstruction, miscellaneous drainage, and signing and pavement markings. During construction there will be single lane closures on SR 72 from the Sarasota County Line to SW Rodgers Avenue.
• Motorists should expect intermittent single lane closures in both directions on SR 72 from the Sarasota County line to SW Rodgers Avenue.
Please use caution in the area and allow extra travel time. Estimated completion is fall 2023.
SR 70 from Peace River to Southeast Baker Street: Construction project: Crews will reconstruct approximately 3.4 miles of SR 70 within the City of Arcadia, add new drainage facilities, add new and relocate sanitary and watermain utilities, install new traffic signals, reconstruct sidewalks, and add street lighting in various locations. During construction there will be lane closure on SR 70. Temporary pedestrian pathways will be installed for pedestrians during construction while sidewalks are under construction and detours will be in place during construction, while crews work on side roads; please follow signage and use caution in these areas. Estimated completion is summer 2026.
• Motorists should expect lane closures on westbound and eastbound SR 70 from Baker Street to the apex of eastbound and westbound SR 70 beginning Monday, September 25, 2023.
SR 70 from Manatee County line to CR 661: Construction project: Crews will resurface SR 70 from the Manatee County line to CR 661, widen turn lanes and road shoulders, regrade ditches and improve drainage, and perform full depth roadway reconstruction at various locations. During construction the speed limit will be lowered to 55 mph and 45 mph and there will be periodic lane closures on SR 70 from the Manatee County line to CR 661.
Motorists should expect intermittent shoulder closures along SR 70 throughout the project.
Please use caution in the area and watch for workers in the construction zone. Estimated completion is summer 2024
GLADES COUNTY
US 27 from Fisheating Creek to the Highlands County line: Construction project: Crews will be milling and resurfacing US 27 form Fisheating Creek to the Highlands County line. Other improvements include widening, guardrail, and signing and pavement markings. The bridge over Fisheating Creek will be repaired/rehabilitated including pile jacketing and spall repairs. During construction daytime lane closures may occur on US 27.
• Motorists should expect daytime and nighttime intermittent lane closures on US 27 throughout the project limits until project completion.
• Broadway Street is closed. Please follow detour signs and use caution in the areas.
Please use caution in the construction zone and watch for workers in the work zone. Estimated completion is spring 2024.
SR 78 Sidewalks at Various Locations: Construction project: Crews will be installing five-foot sidewalks with a retaining wall along the south side of SR 78 from Access Road to Ben Street and from Chobee Street to Lake Drive and from Linda Road to Buckhead Ridge RV & Boat Storage. Other improvements include signing and pavement markings and drainage improvements. During construction daytime lane closures will occur on SR 78.
• Motorists should expect daily intermittent lane closures on SR 78 throughout the project limits until project completion.
Please use caution in the construction zone and watch for workers in the work zone. Estimated completion is fall 2023.
SR 78 in Ortona: Maintenance project: Crews will be performing routine maintenance of the shoulder area of the roadway with lane closures. Travelers can expect flaggers and maintenance personnel.
HARDEE COUNTY
SR 64 from Main Street to Spruce Street : Construction project: Crews will resurface SR 64 from Main Street to Spruce Street, improve drainage and cross slope correction, construct sidewalks on both sides of SR 64 in various locations, and install guardrail, signing, and pavement markings. During construction motorists
should expect the possibility of daytime and nighttime lane closures on SR 64 from Main Street to Spruce Street. Please use caution in the area and watch for workers in the work zone. Anticipated completion is early 2024.
SR 66 from the Highlands County line to US 17 in Hardee County: Maintenance project: Crews will be patching potholes on SR 66 from the Highlands County line to US 17 in Hardee County. Motorists should expect intermittent lane closures on SR 66 in both directions. Please follow flagger directions and use caution in the area.
HENDRY COUNTY
US 27 Sidewalks in Clewiston at various locations and from Royal Palm Avenue and Ponce De Leon Avenue: Construction project: Crews will be adding sidewalks along the north and south side of US 27, the east side of San Luiz Avenue, the west side of Berner Road, and on US 27 extending north along Ponce De Leon Avenue and Royal Palm Avenue to Balboa Plaza. Additional work includes drainage improvements and resurfacing the intersection between US 27 and Berner Road, side streets, and turnouts. During sidewalk construction, pedestrian detours will be in place; please follow signage. During construction there may be lane closures on Berner Road, San Luiz Avenue, Royal Palm Avenue, and Ponce DeLeon Avenue. Please use caution and watch for crews working in the work zone. Estimated completion is early 2024.
HIGHLANDS COUNTY
US 27 from Glades County line to Polk County line: Maintenance contract project: Crews will be mowing and picking up litter along US 27 northbound and southbound from the Glades County line to the Polk County line. Please watch for workers in the work zone and use caution in the area.
US 27 from south of SR 70 to north of SR 70: Construction project: Intersection improvements. Crews will be reconstructing the intersection with concrete pavement, resurfacing SR 70 and US 27 near the intersection, shoulder work, drainage improvements, signalization, and lighting, and signing and pavement markings.
1. Motorists should expect daytime and nighttime intermittent lane closures on US 27 and SR 70 near the intersection.
• SR 70 westbound traffic has been shifted to the south side of SR 70.
2. The driveways for Circle K and the BP Station will be impacted while crews place concrete at the intersection. Motorists will need to access Circle K from SR 70 and BP from US 27. The Circle K driveway off US 27 will be utilized as an Exit Only and the BP driveway off SR 70 will be utilized as an Exit Only.
Estimated completion is summer 2023.
US 98 from east of CR 621 to the Okeechobee County line: Construction project: Crews will resurface US 98 from east of CR 621 to the Okeechobee County line, reconstruct US 98 in various areas, widen shoulders, replace guardrail and install signing and pavement markings. During construction there may be daytime and nighttime lane closures and traffic will be reduced to one lane in various areas; temporary signals will be installed to guide motorists. Please use caution in the area and watch for workers in the work zones. Anticipated completion is summer 2024.
US 27 from Thunderbird Road to Golfview Road in Highlands County: Maintenance contracts project: Crews will be repairing sodded shoulders from Thunderbird Road to Golfview Road. Motorists should expect intermittent shoulder closures on US 27 in both directions. This work should be completed by the end of September. Please watch for vehicles entering and leaving the shoulders and use caution in the area.
SR 66 from US 27 to Hardee County Line in Highlands County: Maintenance contracts project: Crews will be trimming trees from US 27 to the Hardee County line. Motorists should expect intermittent shoulder closures on SR 66 in both directions. Please watch for vehicles entering and leaving the shoulders and use caution in the area. This work should be completed by late September.
SR 64 (Main Street) from South Florida Avenue to South Delaney Avenue: Special use permit: The City of Avon Park will be hosting a 5K Run on Saturday, September 30, 2023, from 6 a.m. to 1 p.m. SR 64 from South Florida Avenue to South Delaney Avenue will be closed during this time. Please follow detours and take extra caution in the area.
LEE COUNTY
Pine Island Road Causeway and Bridge Permanent Repairs: Construction project: As part of the Emergency Restoration of the Pine Island Road Causeway and Bridge, crews will be working in the project boundaries along CR 78 Pine Island Road from west of Little Pine Island Bridge (Bridge No. 120111) to West of Shoreview Drive.
• CURRENT: Crews have mobilized to the north side of the Pine Island Causeway to begin driving sheet piling there. The contractor is completing the concrete cap on the south side.
• Motorists can expect occasional lane closures and traffic shifts with flagging operations for delivery/removal of materials or transfer of equipment to the north side of the causeway.
• Pedestrians and bicyclists are not permitted within the construction zone.
• Noise from construction equipment in the area is to be expected.
• Please use caution and watch for workers and construction vehicles entering and exiting the roadway.
• Please be patient and plan for additional travel time as it may be slower than usual in the area.

Sanibel Causeway Emergency Restoration: As a part of the Emergency Restoration of the Sanibel Causeway, crews continue work on McGregor Boulevard and the Sanibel Causeway from Port Comfort Road to Sanibel Island. The causeway islands surrounding the temporary roadway are an active work zone and are currently closed for public access, including from the water.
During the hours of 6:30 – 11 a.m., motorists leaving Sanibel should expect eastbound McGregor Boulevard to be reduced to one lane from just east of the toll plaza to Port Comfort Road. This closed lane will be used as a dedicated lane for concrete delivery trucks arriving to the project. Concrete trucks will be escorted by FHP when using this lane. During this time, motorists traveling to Sanibel should expect FHP to intermittently stop traffic to allow concrete trucks to cross westbound travel lanes to reach the staging area.
Motorists should expect isolated flagging operations on the Causeway. Crews anticipate opening all lanes between the hours of 7-9 a.m. and 3-5 p.m.
Motorists should expect uneven road surface on the causeway through the end of the year. The contractor continuously monitors road conditions and is prepared to make repairs as needed.
Crews are relocating utilities along McGregor Boulevard. Motorists are asked to use caution as work activities may be close to the roadway.
Crews continue driving sheet pile on the causeway islands.
Crews continue constructing the temporary roadway on the causeway island closest to span A. Once vehicles shift to use the temporary road, crews will raise the elevation of the existing, final roadway approximately 2 feet. Vehicles will be shifted back to the existing location once the final roadway is completed.
Motorists should expect numerous dump trucks entering and exiting Punta Rassa. They are delivering armor stone to be used throughout the project.
Motorists should expect periodic daytime delays for delivery/removal of materials, transfer of equipment, and for crews to remove trash from the roadway.
Many oversized vehicles are crossing the causeway to assist with recovery efforts on the island. Please be patient as travel may be slower than usual. Bicyclists are encouraged to utilize another mode of transportation to travel the causeway and pedestrians are not permitted on the Sanibel Causeway. Expect shoulder closures throughout the project.
MOTORISTS ARE REMINDED TO OBEY THE POSTED SPEED LIMIT OF 20 MPH. Please use caution and watch for workers and construction vehicles entering and leaving the roadway.
I-75 Wrong Way Driver at various locations: Construction project: Crews are constructing Wrong Way Driver systems at various intersections along I-75 at the following locations: I-75 at Terminal Access Road, Daniels Parkway, Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, Luckett Road, and Bayshore Road.
Motorist should expect intermittent closures of off ramps on I-75 between RSW and SR 78 in both northbound and southbound directions. Ramps will be shut down between the hours of 1 a.m. to 4 a.m. beginning Sunday, September 24, through Wednesday, October 11, 2023.
Motorist should expect intermittent closures southbound US 41 and First St/SR80 and northbound US 41 and MLK/SR82 and Main St. Ramps will be shut down between the hours of 1 a.m. to 4 a.m. beginning Thursday, October 5 through Wednesday, October 11, 2023.
The expected project completion is early 2024.
I-75 at Colonial Boulevard (mile marker 136): Construction project: Crews begin construction on the I-75 at Colonial Boulevard Diverging Diamond Interchange (DDI) Project. Other improvements along Colonial Boulevard include a Continuous Flow Intersection (CFI) at the intersection of Six Mile Cypress Parkway/Ortiz Avenue and a Superstreet intersection at the Colonial Boulevard/Forum Boulevard intersection. I-75 will also be widened to provide an auxiliary lane in each direction from Colonial Boulevard to SR 82/Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard. The off-ramps at Colonial Boulevard DDI and the northbound off-ramps at SR 82 will have emergency stopping sites.
Motorists should expect intermittent lane closures on I-75 and the on and off ramps at SR 884/Colonial Boulevard during nighttime/overnight hours from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. through the duration of construction.
Motorists should expect intermittent lane closures on SR 884/Colonial Boulevard during the nighttime/overnight hours from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. through the duration of the construction.
Drivers should exercise caution and be aware of construction vehicles entering and exiting the roadway throughout the duration of the project. The expected completion date is mid-2024.
US 41/Cleveland Avenue Wrong Way Driver at various locations: Construction project: Crews are constructing Wrong Way Driver systems at various intersections along US 41 at the following locations: US 41 at Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and First Street.
Motorists should expect intermittent lane closures during daytime hours from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. throughout the duration of the project.
Tentative overnight/nighttime lane closures Sept 24 into Sept 25 between 1 a.m. and 4 a.m.
Motorists should use caution as crews work near the roadway. The expected project completion is early 2024.
US 41 from south of Hickory Drive to Emerson Square Boulevard: Construction project: Crews are resurfacing and widening the roadway along with reconstructing medians at Hickory Drive, San Carlos Boulevard, Shadow Creek Boulevard, and Harborage Drive.
Crews will continue widening efforts on the outside lanes, both Southbound and Northbound.
The median opening on US 41 at Emerson Square Boulevard is closed for reconstruction. Nighttime lane closures will continue for the next 3 to 4 weeks.
US 41/Cleveland Avenue from Winkler Avenue to SR 82/Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard: Crews will be installing and relocating utilities and constructing.
Expect Victoria Street closed on the west side of US 41 / Cleveland Avenue.
TRAFFIC SHIFT: Motorists should be prepared for a traffic shift switching northbound and southbound traffic from the west side to the east side of the roadway.
Motorists should expect side road closures from Winkler Avenue to Victoria Avenue throughout the duration of the project.
Motorists should expect intermittent northbound and southbound lane closures and detours on US 41/Cleveland Avenue during daytime and nighttime/overnight hours Monday through Friday throughout the duration of the project.
Additional work includes installing drainage structures, pedestrian signals, upgrading signals and lighting, and resurfacing existing highway. The project will be constructed in three segments. Each segment will have most of the construction completed prior to moving to the next segment. Crews will work on the west side of the road initially and when that work is completed, they will shift to the east side of Cleveland Avenue/US 41. The expected project completion is late 2023.
US 41 from Bonita Beach Road to Pondella Road: Construction project: Crews will be improving the lighting systems at the following intersections along US 41: Bonita Beach Road, Center of Bonita Springs Plaza/Boston Road, West Terry Street, South Bay Drive, Bernwood Parkway, Timberwilde Drive, Pelican Landing Parkway, Sanibel Boulevard, Constitution Boulevard, Bell Tower Road, Big Pine Way, Crystal Drive, Palm Drive, Beacon Manor Drive, South Airport Road, Boy Scout Drive, Sam’s Plaza, North Airport Road, North Key Drive, Hancock Bridge Parkway, and Pondella Road.
Motorists should expect possible intermittent lane closures during daytime hours throughout the duration of the project.
Motorists should use caution as crews work alongside the roadway. Estimated project completion is fall 2023.
SR 865/San Carlos Boulevard at CR 869/Summerlin Road: There are no updates for hurricane work.
SR 865/San Carlos Boulevard at Pine Ridge Rd: Hurricane Ian maintenance project: Motorists should expect intermittent lane closures while crews perform repairs to the traffic controller cabinet. Police officers will be on site to direct traffic as needed. Please use caution and expect delays while traveling through this area.
Buckingham Road to Lee Boulevard/Colonial Boulevard: Maintenance permit project: Motorists should expect intermittent lane closures during nighttime/overnight hours from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. while crews construct driveways. Motorists should use caution while traveling in this area.
SR 31/Babcock Ranch Road from Shirley Lane to Greenway Boulevard: Maintenance permit project: Motorists should expect intermittent northbound lane closures during nighttime hours from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. while crews construct driveways in the area. Motorists should use caution as crews work near the roadway.
NB I-75/ On ramp from Terminal Access Road: Maintenance permit project: Motorists should expect intermittent northbound/southbound lane closures during daytime hours on September 29 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. while crews install rumble strips on shoulder asphalt. Motorists should use caution as crews work near the roadway.
US 41/SR 78: Maintenance permit project: Motorists should expect intermittent northbound lane closures during daytime hours from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. while crews construct driveways in the area. Motorists should use caution as crews work near the roadway.
SR 82 at Colonial / Lee Boulevard: Intersection resurfacing. FDOT will be milling and
resurfacing the intersection of SR 82 and Colonial/Lee Boulevard.

MANATEE COUNTY
I-75 at US 301 Interchange (Exit 224): Construction project: Project will widen the I-75 from SR 64 to the Manatee River, reconfigure the I-75/US 301 interchange from a partial cloverleaf interchange to a tight diamond configuration, construct new bridges will be constructed over the Manatee River for a northbound exit ramp and a southbound entrance ramp, and US 301 improvements. This week, crews will work on I-75 widening, drainage and utility work on US 301, and pile driving and beam installing for the construction of the new bridges over the Manatee River and Salt Marsh Bridge.

Construction crews will be working at the intersection of US 41 BUS and 23rd Street.
• A lane shift has occurred so crews can begin working on the center median. Lanes have been reduced to one lane in each direction and will last for approximately two months. Right turns on 23rd Street have reopened.
• Motorists can expect temporary daytime lane closures between 17th Street and 26th Street throughout the duration of the project.
US 301 from 25th Court East to 13th Avenue East: Construction project: Crews have begun a 7.6-mile improvements project consisting of milling and resurfacing the roadway, widening in areas, base work, curb and gutter, sidewalk, guardrail, drainage improvements, bridge expansion joints, signalization, lighting, and signing and pavement marking.
• Work will continue at the intersection of Whitfield Avenue and US 301, and will include pedestrian detours and shoulder closures during the day to install the signal foundations from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.
• Work will continue this week at the intersection of 63rd Avenue East and US 301, and will include pedestrian detours and shoulder closures during the day to install the signal foundations from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.
• Work will begin at the intersection of 53rd Avenue East (SR 70) and US 301 the week of Sunday, October 2, and will include pedestrian detours and shoulder closures during the day to install the signal foundations from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.

SR 64 Anna Maria Draw Bridge over Sarasota Pass: Permit project: Manatee County waterline repair work has been rescheduled for October due to delay in materials. They estimate lane closures from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Consider alternate routes for the duration of the project.
SR 64 Anna Maria Draw Bridge over Sarasota Pass: Bridge maintenance: Crews are working on the bridge to perform normal updates and maintenance. Current work will require overnight lane closures from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m., Monday through Friday overnight, September 25 through September 29, 2023.
• Crews will be completing coating repairs on the bridge and will set signal controlled, alternating, one way traffic from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m., affecting both east and westbound lanes.
• Half hour bridge openings will occur from 3 a.m. to 5 a.m.
• Allow additional travel time and consider an alternate route such as the Cortez Bridge.
SR 64 between 17th Street East to 27th Street East: Permit project: Through October FPL will be installing 35 new power poles. Motorists should anticipate intermittent eastbound outside lane closures from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. Please use caution in the area and be alert for lane shifts. Motorists may wish to use alternate routes or allow extra travel time.
SR 64 from 43rd Street West to 15th Street East and from 10th Street West to 10th Street East: Construction project: Crews have begun the 1.7-mile resurfacing project through the City of Bradenton. Motorists can expect overnight lane closures from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. and temporary lane closures when work requires. Expect noise and light from construction equipment. Motorists should add additional travel time for slow-moving traffic or consider an alternate route. Completion is slated for spring 2024.
OKEECHOBEE COUNTY
SR 70 at Southeast 10th Avenue: Driveway permit project: Crews are re-constructing sidewalks and modifying utilities. Watch for workers close to and in the roadway.
SE 28th Street (Charles Harvey Boulevard) from US 441 to Southeast 18th Terrace: Construction project: Crews will make improvements to SE 28th Street from US 441 to Southeast 18th Terrace. Improvements include construction of sidewalks on the north side of Southeast 28th Street (Charles Harvey Boulevard). Crews will also reconstruct the roadway and driveways in various locations, improve drainage, and install signs and pavement markings.

I-4 from CR 557/Old Glade Road (Exit 48) to Osceola County: Construction project: Crews will resurface I-4, upgrade or replace sections of guardrail and shoulder, install new signing and roadway pavement markings, and install vehicle detection systems and traffic monitoring sites at various locations. This week, crews will work on resurfacing.

I-4 at SR/CR 557 Interchange (Exit 48): Construction project: This project includes reconstructing the interchange from an existing cloverleaf interchange to a diamond interchange with roundabouts at the ramps, replacing the two-lane bridge with a four-lane bridge, modifying SR 557 and I-4 within the interchange area and
adding a new wildlife crossing under I-4. This week the contractor will stripe the new eastbound I-4 permanent ramp. It will be necessary to close the eastbound off-ramp from eastbound Interstate 4 at nighttime/overnight on Thursday night, September 28. Motorists wanting to exit I-4 at CR 557 should follow the detour signs and exit at SR 559 turn left (northbound) to CR 557A back to CR 557. I-4 at CSX Railroad Bridge approximately 1200 feet west of Kathleen Road (Exit 31): Construction project: This project includes replacing the existing 250-foot bridge with two new 400-foot bridges to provide for CSX double tracking and will accommodate future expansion of I-4. This week the contractor will be working outside the roadway with no planned lane or ramp closures with detours.
US 98 from Mount Zion Road to east of Old Stokes Road and from Keller Road to west of Ridge Road: Construction project: Project improvements include removing the old asphalt and resurfacing, drainage and shoulder improvements, tree removal and guardrail repairs. This week the contractor will continue widening work along US 98 during the day. Watch for daytime lane closures with flaggers directing traffic. Use caution and be prepared to stop.
US 98 from Hancock Avenue Southeast to County Road 540A: Maintenance project: Watch for southbound lane, shoulder, and bike lane closures from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., as crews repair shoulders and install no parking signs. Use caution and be prepared to merge or stop.
US 98 at Mall/Plaza Northeast entrance: Maintenance contracts project: Watch for northbound lane and turn lane closures at the corner of US 98 and Mall/Plaza northeast entrance from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. through Wednesday, October 11th. US 92 (East Memorial Boulevard) from Fish Hatchery Road to Reynolds Road: Construction project: Project improvements include milling and resurfacing the roadway and side street entrances, widening the side street entrance at Fish Hatchery Road north of US 92, removing the median opening at Thompson Road an improving roadway drainage. This week the contractor will continue signalization work and general project cleanup. Use caution and watch for workers and equipment close to the road.
US 27 at SR 60 Interchange: Construction project: Crews will replace the bridges carrying SR 60 over US 27 and reconstruct the interchange from a partial cloverleaf design to a Single Point Urban Interchange. Other improvements include widening the roadways from four lanes to six 11-foot lanes, bicycle lanes, curb and gutter, a closed drainage system, and six-foot sidewalks. Crews will construct an urban frontage road in the southwest quadrant along SR 60 for access to local businesses. The project also includes construction of a noise wall along SR 60 from South Miami Street to west of Sharp Street, resurfacing Central Avenue from west of US 27 to Miami Street, installing signals, lighting, signage and pavement markings on US 27 and SR 60. Daytime and nighttime lane closures will occur on US 27 and SR 60 during construction.
• Beginning Tuesday evening, September 26, crews will install an overhead truss on US 27 north of SR 60. The installation will begin on September 26, Tuesday, at 9 p.m. and should be completed by Wednesday, September 27, at 5 a.m. Traffic will be detoured around the area. US 27 at Washington Avenue: Maintenance permits: Expect nighttime/overnight turn lane closures from US 27 onto Washington Avenue between 8:30 p.m. and 5 a.m. as Polk County crews pave Washington Avenue. Lane closures are expected to be nightly. Use caution and be prepared to merge or stop.

This project includes constructing three new toll gantries at the Western Mainline (milepost 8), Central Mainline (milepost 13), and SR 540 New Mainline (milepost 15.5), removing cash toll collections and replacing them with SunPass and TOLL-BY-PLATE and demolishing the existing Western and Central Mainline toll plazas. US 41 from North of Port Commons from north of Port Commons to State College of Florida: Construction project: Crews will begin construction within the right-of-way, medians, driveways and throughout the project limits. Drivers should exercise caution and be aware of construction vehicles entering and exiting the roadway throughout the duration of the project.
Improvements being made as part of this project consist of milling and resurfacing, widening guardrail, drainage improvement, signalization, signing and pavement markings on SR 45 (US 41) from N of Port Commons to State College of FL. Expected completion is summer 2024.
US 41 South between South Palm Avenue and Hudson Avenue: Permit project: Through the end of September 2023, crews are finalizing all work at the Marie Selby Gardens. Motorists should expect temporary inside and outside lane closures as well as overnight lane closures from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. Please use particular caution in the area and watch for pedestrians, bicyclists and workers.
US 41 from Caribbean Drive to Stickney Point: Construction: Construction on the next phase along a 1.4-mile area of US 41 from Caribbean Drive to Stickney Point Road has begun. Work consists of implementing safety improvements along the corridor, including resurfacing, lighting and signalization, median improvements, improved drainage, shoulder reconstruction, improved sidewalks, improved bicycle lanes, and curb and gutter improvements.
• Crews will remain focused on sidewalk placement, drainage, earthwork and gravity walls.
• Most work should be in the FDOT right of way, off the main roadway.
US 41 at Gulfstream Avenue Roundabout: Landscaping of the area will take approximately four months. Lane closures will be during overnight hours and noise from landscaping vehicles and lighting are to be expected.
US 41 at Wellen Park Village Roundabouts: Permit project: A lane shift is in place for approximately six (6) months. Consider alternate routes or add additional travel time during peak hours.
• The project is moving into Phase 1B that will include a left lane closure for both north and south bound traffic as crews install the new left turn lane and drainage in the median.
SR 780 Fruitville Road between Lime and School Avenue: Permit project: Sarasota County will begin removing train tracks and restoring the roadway on SR 780/Fruitville Road between School Avenue and Lime Avenue for continuation of the Legacy Trail. A road closure with detour will be necessary.
• Phase 1, Westbound – Starting Friday night, September 29, at 8 p.m. Fruitville Road Westbound will be closed and re-open on Monday morning, October 2, at 5 a.m. A detour will guide traffic around the work zone.
• Phase 2, Eastbound – Starting Friday night, October 6, at 8 p.m. there will be a road closure on the eastbound section of Fruitville Road and will re-open on Monday morning, October 9, at 5 a.m. A detour will guide traffic around the work zone.
SR 777 River Road from I-75 to US 41: Construction project: Motorists can expect pond excavation near Venice Avenue and just north of Rambler’s Rest RV Park on the northbound roadway. Embankment activities continue on the southbound roadway from US 41 to Stoney Creek Boulevard. Drainage structure and pipe installation will also continue throughout the project. Signal and lighting work is also on-going throughout the project. Trucks will be crossing the road at various locations using intermittent flagging operations. Drainage installation across
Venice Avenue is tentatively scheduled for Saturday, September 30, and will require a flagging operation. Venice Avenue intersection paving is tentatively scheduled to begin Sunday night, October 1, 2023.
SR 681 from I-75 to US 41: Construction project: Crews have begun milling and resurfacing along the 2.8 stretch of roadway in preparation for construction. The resurfacing project will also improve drainage, provide a cross-slope correction for leveling and comfort, new guardrail, updated signing and marking, install intelligent transportation equipment and signalization.
• Paving on the project has started so motorists should expect temporary lane closures for the duration of the project.
• During resurfacing of the highway, on- and off-ramps will require limited overnight detours.
• Noise from construction equipment should be anticipated for the duration.
