Officials: LCSO deputy involved in traffic accident
A Lee County Sheriff’s Office motorcycle officer was transported to the hospital this afternoon following a fender bender in Cape Coral.
City officials reported at approximately 3:15 p.m. that Cape firefighters had responded to a traffic crash involving a deputy on a motorcycle. The deputy was struck by another motorist at Del Prado Boulevard and Savona Parkway.
Cape officials did not immediately know the name of the officer.
“We had a deputy that was stationary (on a motorcycle),” Sgt. Stephanie Eller, of the LCSO, said. “Apparently, someone ran into the back of him.”
She said the deputy reported no injuries as a result of the accident, but his supervisor advised him to go to the hospital as a precautionary measure.
Eller declined to release his name as it is a Cape police investigation.
The other involved vehicle was a sedan. The driver was not injured either.
