Charity American Vinyl Music Festival to feature music legends
Giving back never sounded so good: The American Vinyl Music Festival, featuring the American Vinyl All Star Band, chock-full legendary artists including Jeffrey “Skunk” Baxter (Doobie Bothers/Steely Dan), Barry Goudreau (formerly of Boston), Fran Sheehan (formerly of Boston), Leroy “LRS” Romans (The Wailers/3rd World), Robert “Mousey” Thompson (James Brown), and Danny Beissel (Fosterchild), will perform a special benefit concert for the Wounded Warrior Project at Centennial Park, downtown Fort Myers, Saturday from 2 to 10 p.m.
This fourth annual benefit concert will mark the “All Stars'” fourth consecutive year performing for the Wounded Warrior Project, and to celebrate, the band has invited some of rock ‘n roll’s most iconic musicians to join them on stage.
“The show is shaping up to be an amazing event – there is nothing like this in Florida. The talent contained on one stage is just mind-blowing,” said Bill Johnson, manager of the American Vinyl All Star Band.
Special guests that day will include: Steve Augeri (former lead singer of Journey) and his band; Charlie Colin of Train; Chaz Trippy of the Gregg Allman Band; Phil Stokes of Pure Prairie League; Shawn Beamer of Molly Hatchet and Sally Taylor. The inspirational vocals of Kyle Cousins from Rock4Autism, The Tucci Band, Buck 22, The Sean Chambers Band; and Sarah Hadeka and Nothing Serious are also scheduled to appear throughout the event.
Johnson explained how so many wonderful and talented musicians were able to come together for this annual benefit concert.
“The guys are all old personal friends of mine – and of each other. We have been doing charity events around the country for many years,” he said. “They enjoy and appreciate each other – and we love to help the veterans!”
Aside from nonstop music throughout the day, attendees will be able to peruse the many vendors that will be stationed around the musical venue.
“There will be many vendors setting up at the event,” Johnson said. “Everything from food, clothing and crafts to even a massage area.”
Make this an all-day event and bring your towels, blankets and lawn chairs; as Johnson says, “blankets and chairs are encouraged. It is a long day of outstanding entertainment, so people should make themselves comfortable.”
Ample parking around the venue will be available; coolers are not permitted.
Currently touring at select venues across the country, The American Vinyl All Star Band has delighted fans and critics alike with their versatile style, professional musicianship and years of experience performing with some of the most recognized bands in the industry.
