BARTOW, Fla. – This weekly report is prepared by the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) to inform the public about upcoming road work in Southwest Florida.

Below are the work schedule and lane closure locations for major state road projects.

Motorists are reminded to wear safety belts and drive with caution, courtesy, common sense, and patience as they travel through work zones. Remember, speeding fines are doubled in work zones. As a reminder, travelers can visit www.FL511.com or dial “511” from their phone to learn about traffic conditions on major roadways across the state. If you know before you go, you can plan accordingly and save time and money.

CHARLOTTE COUNTY

SR 776/El Jobean Road from Myakka River to Willow Bend Drive: Construction project: Crews will mill and resurface, widen medians, replace sidewalk, improve drainage, and replace signing and pavement markings along SR 776/El Jobean Road.

Final inspections are being performed. The expected project completion is early 2024. US 41 from Midway Boulevard to Paulson Drive: Maintenance project: Motorists should expect intermittent outside northbound closures during nighttime/overnight hours from 8:30 p.m. to 6 a.m. weekdays, while crews perform geotechnical work. Main Street to Peace River Bridge: Motorists should expect intermittent lane closures during daytime and nighttime/overnight hours while crews resurface the roadway, construct curb, gutter, sidewalk, lanes widenings, drainage, signage, Street Light, and signalization improvements. Motorists should expect intermittent southbound and northbound lane closures from Aqui Esta Drive to Payne Street during daytime hours from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. and during nighttime/overnight hours from 8 p.m. to 6:30 a.m. Motorists should use caution as crews work in the roadway. The expected project completion is late fall 2023. US 41/Tamiami Trail from Payne Street to Rio Villa Drive: Motorists should expect intermittent lane closures during daytime and nighttime/overnight hours while crews resurface the roadway, construct curb, gutter, sidewalk, lanes widenings, drainage, signage, streetlight, and signalization improvements. Motorists should expect intermittent south and northbound lane closures from Aqui Esta Drive to Payne Street during daytime hours from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. and during night/overnight hours from 8 p.m. to 6:30 a.m. There will be no lane closures from Monday, December 25 through Sunday, December 31, 2023 for holiday break. Motorists should use caution as crews work on the roadway. The expected project completion is late fall 2023. US 17 from Piper Road to West of Golf Course Road: Construction project: Crews will be constructing new turn lanes as well as milling and resurfacing existing roadway on US 17. Motorists should expect intermittent eastbound lane closures during daytime and nighttime hours. Motorists should expect slow-moving traffic and possible delays. US 41 and SR 776 at Various Intersections: Hurricane Ian signal repair project: Crews will be installing illuminated signs along US 41 in Punta Gorda and Port Charlotte at several intersections. Motorists should expect minor traffic delays and slow-moving traffic. Please use caution as crews install signs. SR 90 from 11 Mile Loop Road to Collier/Miami County Line: Design Project: Motorists should anticipate daytime lane closures from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. between Monday, January 1 and Friday, January 12, 2024. Crews will be performing geotechnical borings in the roadway. Weekend operations may take place. Motorists should use caution as crews work near the roadway.

COLLIER COUNTY

I-75 from mile marker 76 to the mile marker 100/Toll Plaza: Construction project: Crews will widen and resurface the roadway as well as construct new guardrail and wildlife crossings. Motorists should expect intermittent southbound and northbound lane closures during daytime hours throughout the duration of the project. Motorists should use caution as crews work on the roadway. The expected project completion is spring 2024. I-75 from the Broward County line to the east of the bridge over Wildlife Crossing #15: Construction project: Crews will widen and resurface the roadway as well as construct new guardrail and wildlife crossings. Motorists should expect daytime ramp closures at the Recreational Area at MM 70 on I-75 northbound from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. for guardrail repairs. Motorists should expect intermittent southbound and northbound lane closures during daytime hours throughout the duration of the project. Motorists should use caution as crews work on the roadway. The expected project completion is spring 2024.

I-75 at SR 951 (exit 101) Interchange Improvements: FDOT is reconstructing the I-75 southbound on and off-ramp connections and the northbound on-ramp connection to the mainline lanes at SR 951 (exit 101). The northeast quadrant loop ramp will be connected to, and accessible only by, a direct flyover ramp from northbound Collier Boulevard starting south of the Davis Boulevard intersection. This single-lane flyover ramp will carry traffic over Beck Boulevard and a reconstructed I-75 southbound on-ramp. A single-lane flyover ramp extension will carry I-75 southbound traffic over Davis Boulevard to a new signalized intersection at Collier Boulevard and Business Circle North. This ramp will extend along the western side of Collier Boulevard.

Motorists should expect limited work until Tuesday, January 2, 2024.

Crews are also currently constructing the noise wall on the south side of I-75, just west of the interchange. The contractor does not expect impacts to traffic with this activity. Crews are also currently working at northbound SR 951 at the I-75 southbound on-ramp. Motorists should expect truck traffic during daytime hours. The contractor does not expect impacts to traffic with this activity.

Please use caution and watch for workers and construction vehicles entering and leaving the roadway. The expected completion date is spring 2026. US 41 at Oasis Visitor Center: Construction project: Crews will construct an eastbound left turn lane from US 41 at the Oasis Visitor Center. Additional improvements include lane widening, guardrail installation, resurfacing, and new signage and pavement markings at the intersection. Motorists should expect intermittent lane closures and shifts during daytime hours from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. throughout the duration of the project. Motorists should use caution as crews work on the roadway. The expected project completion is early 2024. Shoulder closures and bicyclists flagging operation during daytime working operations. US 41 from 10th Street North to 9th Street North: Maintenance permit project: Motorists should expect intermittent northbound and southbound lane closures during nighttime/overnight hours from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. while crews construct underground utilities. A temporary traffic signal will be installed during construction. Motorists should expect slow-moving traffic and possible delays. US 41 at the Treviso Bay Entrance east of Johns Street: Maintenance permit project: Motorists should expect intermittent northbound lane closures during nighttime/overnight hours from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. while crews make turn lane modifications. Motorists should use caution as crews work on the roadway. SR 84/Davis Boulevard from Ospreys Landing to West Crown Point Boulevard: Maintenance permit project: Motorists should expect intermittent westbound lane closures during nighttime/overnight hours from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. while crews replace underground utilities. Motorists should expect slow-moving traffic and possible delays. SR 670 9th Street North to Tamiami Trail: Maintenance permit project: Motorists should expect intermittent southbound lane closures during nighttime/overnight hours from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. while crews construct a turn lane. Motorists should expect slow-moving traffic. Motorists should expect to work during weekends from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m.

Copeland Avenue from Chokoloskee Bridge to Broadway Avenue: Construction project: Crews will construct sidewalk on the east side of Copeland Avenue from Chokoloskee Bridge to Broadway Avenue. Crews will install temporary signalization within the project. Motorists should expect intermittent lane closures during daytime hours from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. with possible flagging operations throughout the duration of the project. Motorists should use caution as crews work near the roadway. The expected project completion is early 2024. US 41 From East of Whistler’s Cove Boulevard to West of Collier Boulevard: Construction project: Crews will be working on widening areas, curb construction, and installation of permanent signs throughout project limits. Motorists should use caution as crews work near the roadway.

DESOTO COUNTY

SR 70 from Peace River to SE Baker Street: Construction project: In observance of the holidays, construction activities are expected to be suspended Sunday, December 24, to Tuesday, January 2, 2024.

SR 70 from Manatee County line to CR 661: Construction project: In observance of the holidays, construction activities are expected to be suspended Sunday, December 24, to Tuesday, January 2, 2024.

GLADES COUNTY

US 27 from Fisheating Creek to the Highlands County line: Construction project: In observance of the holidays, construction activities are expected to be suspended Sunday, December 24, to Tuesday, January 2, 2024.

SR 78 from US 27 to Okeechobee County Line: Construction project: In observance of the holidays, construction activities are expected to be suspended Sunday, December 24, to Tuesday, January 2, 2024.

HARDEE COUNTY

SR 64 from Main Street to Spruce Street: Construction project: In observance of the holidays, construction activities are expected to be suspended Sunday, December 24 to Tuesday, January 2, 2024.

SR 66 from the Highlands County line to US 17 in Hardee County: Maintenance project: In observance of the holidays, maintenance activities are expected to be suspended Sunday, December 24 to Tuesday, January 2, 2024.

HENDRY COUNTY US 27 Sidewalks in Clewiston at various locations and from Royal Palm Avenue and Ponce De Leon Avenue: Construction project: In observance of the holidays, construction activities are expected to be suspended Sunday, December 24 to Tuesday, January 2, 2024. US 27 from Palm Beach County line to east of San Diego Street: Construction project: In observance of the holidays, construction activities are expected to be suspended Sunday, December 24 to Tuesday, January 2, 2024.

HIGHLANDS COUNTY

US 27 from Glades County line to Polk County line: Maintenance contract project: In observance of the holidays, maintenance activities are expected to be suspended Sunday, December 24, to Tuesday, January 2, 2024.

US 27 from south of SR 70 to north of SR 70: Construction project: In observance of the holidays, construction activities are expected to be suspended Sunday, December 24, to Tuesday, January 2, 2024. US 27 at Lakeshore Mall entrance: The right turn lane off US 27 to the Lakeshore Mall is closed; please use alternate entrances. US 27 between Whisper Circle and Flare Road: Utility permit project: In observance of the holidays, utility activities are expected to be suspended Sunday, December 24 to Tuesday, January 2, 2024.

US 27 between Glades County line and Moreno Drive: Utility permit project: In observance of the holidays, utility activities are expected to be suspended Sunday, December 24, to Tuesday, January 2, 2024. US 98 from east of CR 621 to the Okeechobee County line: Construction project: In observance of the holidays, construction activities are expected to be suspended Sunday, December 24, to Tuesday, January 2, 2024. CR 17 from Memorial Drive to N Forest Ave: Maintenance permit project: In observance of the holidays, maintenance activities are expected to be suspended Sunday, December 24, to Tuesday, January 2, 2024.

LEE COUNTY

Pine Island Road Causeway and Bridge Permanent Repairs: Construction project: As part of the Emergency Restoration of the Pine Island Road Causeway and Bridge, crews will be working in the project boundaries along CR 78 Pine Island Road from west of Little Pine Island Bridge (Bridge No. 120111) to West of Shoreview Drive.

• UPDATE: The contractor will begin milling on the north side of the causeway and relocating the barrier wall for ground utility installation.

• Crews work on desilting and drainage on the shoulders west of Matlacha Pass Bridge.

• Please be alerted to construction equipment in the construction zone. To maintain safety, motorists should find alternate parking areas.

• Please use caution and watch for workers and construction vehicles entering and exiting the roadway.

• Crews are maintaining two-lane traffic on causeway.

• Pedestrians and bicyclists are not permitted within the construction zone.

• Noise from construction equipment in the area is to be expected.

• Please be patient and plan for additional travel time as it may be slower than usual in the area.

Sanibel Causeway Emergency Restoration: As a part of the Emergency Restoration of the Sanibel Causeway, crews continue work on McGregor Boulevard and the Sanibel Causeway from Port Comfort Road to Sanibel Island. The causeway islands surrounding the temporary roadway are an active work zone and are currently closed for public access, including from the water. On Thursday, December 21 and Friday, December 22, motorists should expect paving and striping throughout the project. This may require the contractor to relocate construction equipment along the roadway. Beginning Saturday, December 23, motorists should expect smoother, less restrictive travel with two, 12-foot lanes with shoulders on the majority of the Causeway. Motorists should continue to expect a daily lane closure on weekdays on eastbound McGregor Boulevard between the toll plaza and Port Comfort Road for material delivery. This closure is not anticipated to affect traffic and will be removed if causing delays. Through the end of the year, motorists should expect isolated flagging operations, an uneven road surface, periodic shoulder closures, workers and equipment close to the road, and numerous dump trucks entering and exiting Punta Rassa to deliver project supplies. Many oversized vehicles are crossing the causeway to assist with recovery efforts on the island. Please be patient as travel may be slower than usual. Bicyclists are encouraged to utilize another mode of transportation to travel the causeway and pedestrians are not permitted on the Sanibel Causeway. MOTORISTS ARE REMINDED TO OBEY THE POSTED SPEED LIMIT OF 20 MPH.

I-75 Wrong Way Driver at various locations: Construction project: Crews are constructing Wrong Way Driver systems at various intersections along I-75 at the following locations: I-75 at Terminal Access Road, Daniels Parkway, Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, Luckett Road, and Bayshore Road. Motorists should expect possible shoulder closures for the remainder of the project for clean-up efforts and final inspections. The expected project completion is early 2024. I-75 at Colonial Boulevard (mile marker 136): Construction project: Crews begin construction on the I-75 at Colonial Boulevard Diverging Diamond Interchange (DDI) Project. Other improvements along Colonial Boulevard include a Continuous Flow Intersection (CFI) at the intersection of Six Mile Cypress Parkway/Ortiz Avenue and a Superstreet intersection at the Colonial Boulevard/Forum Boulevard intersection. I-75 will also be widened to provide an auxiliary lane in each direction from Colonial Boulevard to SR 82/Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard. The off-ramps at Colonial Boulevard DDI and the northbound off-ramps at SR 82 will have emergency stopping sites.

Motorists should expect intermittent lane closures on I-75 and the on and off ramps at SR 884/Colonial Boulevard during nighttime/overnight hours from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. through the duration of construction.

Motorists should expect intermittent lane closures on SR 884/Colonial Boulevard during the nighttime/overnight hours from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. through the duration of the construction. Drivers should exercise caution and be aware of construction vehicles entering and exiting the roadway throughout the duration of the project. The expected completion date is mid-2024. SR 867/McGregor Boulevard from Cypress Lake Drive to Edinburgh Drive: Construction Project: FDOT crews will be providing roadway median improvements from Cypress Lake Drive to Edinburgh Drive to enhance safety for drivers when traveling on SR 867. No planned road closures or work being performed until January 2, 2024. Please proceed with caution as crews work on the roadway.

US 41/Cleveland Avenue Wrong Way Driver at various locations: Construction project: Crews are constructing Wrong Way Driver systems at various intersections along US 41 at the following locations: US 41 at Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and First Street. Motorists should expect possible shoulder closures for the remainder of the project for clean-up efforts and final inspections. Motorists should use caution as crews work near the roadway. The expected project completion is early 2024.

US 41 from South of Hickory Drive to Emerson Square Boulevard: Construction project: Crews are resurfacing and widening the roadway along with reconstructing medians at Hickory Drive, San Carlos Boulevard, Shadow Creek Boulevard, and Harborage Drive.

Project construction operations will be suspended Sunday, December 24 through Tuesday, December 26 and Saturday, December 30 through Tuesday, January 2, 2024 for holiday break. The contractor plans to work during the holiday period, on Wednesday, December 27 through Friday, December 29, 2024. Crews will be installing signalization items in the Right-of-Way at the San Carlow Boulevard intersection. The median opening on US 41 at San Carlos Boulevard is closed for construction. The median opening on US 41 at Emerson Square Blvd. is closed for reconstruction.

No lane closures until Tuesday, January 2, 2024. Nighttime lane closures are expected to resume Wednesday, January 3, 2024.

US 41/Cleveland Avenue from Winkler Avenue to SR 82/Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard: Crews will be installing and relocating utilities and constructing medians. Motorists should expect intermittent northbound and southbound lane closures and detours on US 41/Cleveland Avenue during daytime and nighttime/overnight hours Monday through Friday throughout the duration of the project. Additional work includes installing drainage structures, pedestrian signals, upgrading signals and lighting, and resurfacing existing highway. The project will be constructed in three segments. Each segment will have most of the construction completed prior to moving to the next segment. Crews will work on the west side of the road initially and when that work is completed, they will shift to the east side of Cleveland Avenue/US 41. The expected project completion is late 2023. SR 884 (Colonial Boulevard) and Fowler Street: Construction project: Crews are constructing turn lanes, drainage upgrades, signalization upgrades and milling and resurfacing at the intersection of Colonial Boulevard and Fowler Street. Motorists should anticipate right turn lane closures onto SR 884 (Colonial Boulevard) when traveling northbound on Fowler Street. These closures will stay in place throughout the duration of 2023. Three lanes on SR 884 (Colonial Boulevard) headed eastbound will be reduced to two lanes when approaching Fowler Street.

No lane closures scheduled from Monday, January 25 through Monday, January 1, 2024 for holiday break. The expected project completion is mid-2024.

US 41 over Caloosahatchee River Bridge Pedestrian Improvements: Design-Build Project: Crews will construct a sidewalk along the west side of US 41 from First Street in Fort Myers to North Key Drive in North Fort Myers. This project is intended to improve pedestrian safety by modifying the existing bridges to accommodate a sidewalk on the west side of the southbound bridge. This will be accomplished by installing new outside traffic railings, connecting the two bridge decks in the center, and restriping the lanes. A new single median barrier will separate the northbound and southbound traffic.

Motorists should expect intermittent nighttime lane closures for guardrail installation.

US 41 from Bonita Beach Road to Pondella Road: Construction project: Crews will be improving the lighting systems at the following intersections along US 41: Bonita Beach Road, Center of Bonita Springs Plaza/Boston Road, West Terry Street, South Bay Drive, Bernwood Parkway, Timberwilde Drive, Pelican Landing Parkway, Sanibel Boulevard, Constitution Boulevard, Bell Tower Road, Big Pine Way, Crystal Drive, Palm Drive, Beacon Manor Drive, South Airport Road, Boy Scout Drive, Sam’s Plaza, North Airport Road, North Key Drive, Hancock Bridge Parkway, and Pondella Road. Motorists should expect possible intermittent lane closures during daytime hours throughout the duration of the project. Motorists should use caution as crews work alongside the roadway. Estimated project completion is fall 2023.

SR 865/San Carlos Boulevard at CR 869/Summerlin Road: There are no updates for hurricane work.

SR 865/San Carlos Boulevard at Pine Ridge Rd: Hurricane Ian maintenance project: Motorists should expect intermittent lane closures while crews perform repairs to the traffic controller cabinet. Police officers will be on site to direct traffic as needed. Please use caution and expect delays while traveling through this area.

SR 80 (Palm Beach Boulevard)/Veronica S. Shoemaker Boulevard to Alta Visa Avenue: Construction project: Motorists should expect nighttime/overnight lane closures from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. during the week while crews perform soil boring operations to gather design criteria for upcoming improvements to the corridor.

Please use caution and expect delays while traveling through this area.

Buckingham Road to Lee Boulevard/Colonial Boulevard: Maintenance permit project: Motorists should expect intermittent lane closures during nighttime/overnight hours from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. while crews construct driveways. Motorists should use caution while traveling in this area. US 41/SR 78: Maintenance permit project: Motorists should expect intermittent northbound lane closures during daytime hours from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. while crews construct driveways in the area. Motorists should use caution as crews work near the roadway.

SR 80/Palm Beach Boulevard from Kingston Drive to Marion Street: Maintenance Project: Motorists should expect intermittent land closures from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. while crews perform maintenance to storm drains. Motorists should use caution as crews work near the roadway.

SR 78/ Pine Island Road from Donald Road to Santa Barbara Drive: Maintenance Project: Motorists should expect intermittent lane closures from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. while crews perform shoulder repair maintenance. Motorists should use caution as crews work near the roadway.

State Roadways (US 41, SR 31, SR 78, SR 80, SR 82, SR 739, SR 865, and SR 867): Maintenance contract project: Crews are sweeping curb and gutter on state roadways and bridges. Motorists should expect lane closures during nighttime/overnight hours from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. Motorists should expect slow-moving traffic and possible delays.

SR 45/Leisure Road to Del Prado Boulevard North: Maintenance Project: Motorists

should use caution when traveling along SR 45 southbound between Leisure Road and Del Prado Boulevard South as crews will be constructing watermain lines in the area. Work will be performed during daytime hours. Project is expected to be finished by mid-2024.

SR 82/Buckingham Road to Lee Boulevard/Colonial Boulevard: Maintenance

Project: Motorists should expect slow moving traffic and delays on SR 82 westbound during daytime and nighttime hours while crews pave driveways. Nighttime lane closures will take place from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. Motorists should use caution as crews work near the roadway.

SR 739 from Palm Avenue to Old Metro Parkway: Maintenance Project: Motorists

should expect drilling operations to be performed on SR 739 on the eastbound shoulder during the daytime hours. Anticipated completion date of March 2024. Motorists should use caution as crews work near the roadway.

SR 739 from Moreno Avenue to Palm Avenue: Maintenance Project: Motorists

should expect drilling operations to be performed on northbound and southbound lanes while traveling on SR 739 on weekends from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Anticipated completion date of March 2024. Motorists should use caution as crews work near the roadway.

SR 78 from Palm Creek Drive to Sabal Palm Drive: Maintenance Project: Motorists

should expect lane closures on SR 78 while traveling in the eastbound and westbound direction during the overnight/nighttime hours for widening efforts. Motorists should anticipate slow moving traffic and possible delays when traveling in the area.

SR 80 / Palm Beach Blvd at Tarpon Street: Maintenance Project: Motorists should expect intermittent lane closures from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. while contractors perform maintenance to storm water systems. Motorists should use caution as crews work near the roadway.

MANATEE COUNTY

I-75 at US 301 Interchange (Exit 224): Construction project: Project will widen the I-75 from SR 64 to the Manatee River, reconfigure the I-75/US 301 interchange from a partial cloverleaf interchange to a tight diamond configuration, construct new bridges will be constructed over the Manatee River for a northbound exit ramp and a southbound entrance ramp, and US 301 improvements. This week, crews will work on I-75 widening, drainage and utility work on US 301, and pile driving and beam installing for the construction of the new bridges over the Manatee River and Salt Marsh Bridge.

Motorists should expect double lane closures on I-75 northbound during nighttime/overnight hours from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. through the duration of the construction; double closures on I-75 southbound during the nighttime/overnight hours from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. through the duration of the construction.

• Motorists should expect lane closures on US 301 during nighttime/overnight hours from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. through the duration of the construction.

•. Motorists should expect lane closures on Tidewater Preserve Boulevard through the duration of bridge construction.

• Motorists should expect lane shifts on I-75 and US 301 through the duration of the construction.

• Drivers should exercise caution and be aware of construction vehicles entering and exiting the interstate through the duration of the construction.

Variable message signs will be in place to alert drivers that work is underway. Estimated completion is mid-2025.

I-275 at US 41 (Exit 2): Construction project: Project improvements include new traffic signal at I-275 southbound off-ramp and replacing traffic signal at I-275 northbound off-ramp, pedestrian accommodations, and resurfacing within project limits. This week, crews will work on sod installation.

• Motorists should expect single and double lane closures on US 41 during nighttime/overnight hours from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. bound through the duration of the construction.

• Motorists should expect ramp closures at I-275 at US 41 during nighttime/overnight hours from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. through the duration of the construction.

• Motorists should expect lane shifts on I-275 and US 41 through the duration of the construction.

• Drivers should exercise caution and be aware of construction vehicles entering and exiting the interstate through the duration of the construction.

Variable message signs will be in place to alert drivers that work is underway. Estimated completion is early 2024.

I-275 at South Side Skyway Bridge Fishing Pier and Ramps (Manatee County): Construction project: Crews are repaving the area, installing wrong way detection, guard rail and restriping/ signing. Motorists can expect temporary lane closures and overnight ramp closures in January 2024.

US 41 BUS from 17th to Bayshore Road/ 26th Street, including the 23rd Street Roundabout, Palmetto: Construction: Work is underway so please use caution in the construction zone and be alert for construction equipment in the area. Construction crews will be working at the intersection of US 41 BUS and 23rd Street and the intersection of US 41 BUS and Bayshore Road/26th Street. Left turns at 26th Street will be closed off during construction of median improvements. Motorists should follow detours or find alternate routes.

US 301 from 25th Court East to 13th Avenue East: Construction project: Crews have begun a 7.6-mile improvements project consisting of milling and resurfacing the roadway, widening in areas, base work, curb and gutter, sidewalk, guardrail, drainage improvements, bridge expansion joints, signalization, lighting, and signing and pavement marking.

• Directional boring for lighting and signalization components will continue at various intersections along the project route until Friday, December 22, when the contractor will pause work for the holidays. Work will resume on Tuesday, January 3, 2024. Please be aware there will be pedestrian detours and shoulder closures during the day from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.

• During intersection construction pedestrian access restrictions will be in place with alternate pedestrian routes clearly posted. To maintain safety, pedestrians should follow the posted routes.

US 301 and Moccasin Wallow Road Roundabout: Permit project: Crews have begun construction of a Manatee County roundabout at the intersection of US 301 and Moccasin Wallow Road. SR 570 (Polk Parkway) from I-4 to Old Dixie Highway: Construction project: Florida’s Turnpike Enterprise is converting an 18-mile portion of Polk Parkway/SR 570 to electronic tolling between I-4 and Old Dixie Highway/CR 546 in Polk County. This project includes constructing three new toll gantries at the Western Mainline (milepost 8), Central Mainline (milepost 13), and SR 540 New Mainline (milepost 15.5), removing cash toll collections and replacing them with SunPass and TOLL-BY-PLATE and demolishing the existing Western and Central Mainline toll plazas. SR 570 (Polk Parkway) from US 92 to I-4: Construction project: Florida’s Turnpike Enterprise is widening a four-mile segment of Polk Parkway/SR 570 to four lanes, between Old Dixie Highway/CR 546 and south of Pace Road and resurfacing the existing 4-lane portions between US 92 and I-4 in Polk County. This project includes constructing a new interchange at Polk Parkway and Braddock Road, widening Braddock Road from west of Polk Parkway to Berkley Road and constructing new electronic tolling points on Polk Parkway and Braddock Road ramps. Work also consists of resurfacing the ramps at CR 546, improving signage, pavement markings, signalization lighting and drainage throughout the project and improving local roads including the realignment of the City of Auburndale Water Treatment Plant access road and the neighborhood access road south of Braddock Road, as well as minor resurfacing on Berkley Road at the Braddock Road intersection. I-75 at SR 72/Clark Road (Exit 205): Construction project: Project improvements include reconstructing the existing interchange to a Diverging Diamond Interchange (DDI), adding auxiliary lane on I-75 northbound from SR 72 to Bee Ridge Road, widen I-75 southbound from Proctor Road to SR 72, and improvements on Clark Road. This week, crews will work on the ramps, drainage, retaining walls, and paving.

• Motorists should expect single lane closures on I-75 during nighttime/overnight hours from 7 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. bound through the duration of the construction.

Crews will be working on drainage pipe and sidewalk removal throughout the project. Motorists should expect lane closures during daytime hours from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday through Friday. US 41 at Gulfstream Avenue Roundabout: Landscaping: Crews have completed their 90 percent walk through for final completion. Temporary lane closures may be needed as crews complete work.

SR 72 Clark Road and the Legacy Trail: Construction Project: Crews have begun constructing two new pedestrian bridges and intersection improvements along the Legacy Trail in Sarasota County. SR 789 John Ringling Causeway Bridge: Construction project: Work includes realignment of traffic lanes to add a bus lane, concrete spall repairs to bridge deck and sidewalk, and placement of concrete sealer on bridge deck and sidewalk. Work is near completion.

SR 681 from I-75 to US 41: Construction project: Crews have begun milling and resurfacing along the 2.8 stretch of roadway in preparation for construction. The resurfacing project will also improve drainage, provide a cross-slope correction for leveling and comfort, new guardrail, updated signing and marking, install intelligent transportation equipment and signalization.

• Paving on the project has started so motorists should expect temporary lane closures for the duration of the project.

• During resurfacing of the highway, on- and off-ramps will require limited overnight detours.
