BARTOW, Fla. – This weekly report is prepared by the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) to inform the public about upcoming road work in Southwest Florida. Below are the work schedule and lane closure locations for major state road projects.
Motorists are reminded to wear safety belts and drive with caution, courtesy, common sense, and patience as they travel through work zones. Remember, speeding fines are doubled in work zones.
As a reminder, travelers can visit FL511.com or dial “511” from their phone to learn about traffic conditions on major roadways across the state.
If you know before you go, you can plan accordingly and save time and money.
CHARLOTTE COUNTY
US 41 from Midway Boulevard to Paulson Drive: Maintenance project: Motorists should expect intermittent outside northbound closures during nighttime/overnight hours from 8:30 p.m. to 6 a.m. weekdays, while crews perform geotechnical work.
US 41 and Harbor View Road: Traffic operations: From 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., crews will be replacing traffic signal heads. Motorists should expect temporary lane shifts and possible slow-moving traffic. A police officer will be present to ensure both motorist and crew safety.
Main Street to Peace River Bridge: Motorists should expect intermittent lane closures during daytime and nighttime/overnight hours while crews resurface the roadway, construct curb, gutter, sidewalk, lanes widenings, drainage, signage, Street Light, and signalization improvements.
Motorists should expect intermittent southbound and northbound lane closures from Aqui Esta Drive to Payne Street during daytime hours from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. and during nighttime/overnight hours from 8 p.m. to 6:30 a.m.
Motorists should use caution as crews work on the roadway.
US 41/Tamiami Trail from Payne Street to Rio Villa Drive: Motorists should expect intermittent lane closures during daytime and nighttime/overnight hours while crews resurface the roadway, construct curb, gutter, sidewalk, lanes widenings, drainage, signage, streetlight, and signalization improvements.
Motorists should expect intermittent south and northbound lane closures from Aqui Esta Drive to Payne Street during daytime hours from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. and during night/overnight hours from 8 p.m. to 6:30 a.m.
Motorists should use caution as crews work on the roadway. The expected project completion is early 2024.
US 17 from Piper Road to West of Golf Course Road: Construction project:
Crews will be constructing new turn lanes as well as milling and resurfacing existing roadway on US 17. Motorists should expect intermittent eastbound lane closures during daytime and nighttime hours. Motorists should expect slow-moving traffic and possible delays.
US 41 and SR 776 at Various Intersections: Hurricane Ian signal repair project: Crews will be installing illuminated signs along US 41 in Punta Gorda and Port Charlotte at several intersections. Motorists should expect minor traffic delays and slow-moving traffic. Please use caution as crews install signs.
SR 31 from Fox Hill Road to Little Farm Road: Maintenance Permit Project: Crews will be relocating existing natural gas pipelines on both southbound and northbound lanes on SR 31. Motorists should expect lane closures during the overnight/nighttime hours through April 8, 2024. Please use caution when traveling through this area.
SR 776 from River Lane to Manor Road: Maintenance Project: Utility work is scheduled to take place on March 14, 2024, during the overnight/nighttime hours of 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. Lane closures heading westbound on SR 776 are scheduled. Motorists should expect slow-moving traffic during this time.
COLLIER COUNTY
I-75 from Mile Marker 76 to Mile Marker 100/Toll Plaza: Construction project: Crews will widen and resurface the roadway as well as construct new guardrail and wildlife crossings.
Motorists should expect intermittent southbound and northbound lane closures during daytime hours throughout the duration of the project.
Motorists should use caution as crews work on the roadway. The expected project completion is spring 2024.
I-75 from the Broward County line to the east of the bridge over Wildlife Crossing #15: Construction project: Crews will widen and resurface the roadway as well as construct new guardrail and wildlife crossings.
Motorists should expect intermittent southbound and northbound lane closures during daytime hours throughout the duration of the project.
Motorists should use caution as crews work on the roadway. The expected project completion is spring 2024.
I-75 at SR 951 (exit 101) Interchange Improvements: FDOT is reconstructing the I-75 southbound on and off-ramp connections and the northbound on-ramp connection to the mainline lanes at SR 951 (exit 101). The northeast quadrant loop ramp will be connected to, and accessible only by, a direct flyover ramp from northbound Collier Boulevard starting south of the Davis Boulevard intersection. This single-lane flyover ramp will carry traffic over Beck Boulevard and a reconstructed I-75 southbound on-ramp. A single-lane flyover ramp extension will carry I-75 southbound traffic over Davis Boulevard to a new signalized intersection at Collier Boulevard and Business Circle North. This ramp will extend along the western side of Collier Boulevard.
Motorists are advised that the SR 84 (Davis Boulevard) eastbound direct access ramp heading south to SR 951 (Collier Boulevard) is permanently closed. The eastbound to southbound right turn will be available at the intersection.
Motorists should expect reduced lane widths for southbound Collier Boulevard between Business Circle North and Business Circle South beginning Monday, March 4, 2024.
Motorists can expect daytime lane closures between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. on northbound Collier Boulevard from just south of Beck Boulevard to just south of the southbound on-ramp at I-75.
During the month of February, motorists can expect lane closures during the overnight/nighttime hours of 9:30 p.m. to 6 a.m. on southbound Collier Boulevard between Beck Boulevard and Business Circle North.
Crews continue to drive pile for the new bridge over Beck Boulevard, east of Collier Boulevard. This work is expected to continue through April.
Please use caution and watch for workers and construction vehicles entering and leaving the roadway. The expected completion date is spring 2026.
US 41 at Oasis Visitor Center: Construction project: Crews will construct an eastbound left turn lane from US 41 at the Oasis Visitor Center. Additional improvements include lane widening, guardrail installation, resurfacing, and new signage and pavement markings at the intersection.
Motorists should expect intermittent lane closures and shifts during daytime hours from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. throughout the duration of the project.
Motorists should use caution as crews work on the roadway. The expected project completion is early 2024.
Shoulder closures and bicyclists flagging operation during daytime working operations.
US 41 from 10th Street North to 9th Street North: Maintenance permit project: Motorists should expect intermittent northbound and southbound lane closures during nighttime/overnight hours from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. while crews construct underground utilities. A temporary traffic signal will be installed during construction. Motorists should expect slow-moving traffic and possible delays.
US 41 at the Treviso Bay Entrance east of Johns Street: Maintenance permit project: Motorists should expect intermittent northbound lane closures during nighttime/overnight hours from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. while crews make turn lane modifications. Motorists should use caution as crews work on the roadway.
SR 84/Davis Boulevard from Ospreys Landing to West Crown Point Boulevard: Maintenance permit project: Motorists should expect intermittent westbound lane closures during nighttime/overnight hours from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. while crews replace underground utilities. Motorists should expect slow-moving traffic and possible delays.
SR 670 9th Street North to Tamiami Trail: Maintenance permit project: Motorists should expect intermittent southbound lane closures during nighttime/overnight hours from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. while crews construct a turn lane. Motorists should expect slow-moving traffic. Motorists should expect to work during weekends from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m.
Copeland Avenue from Chokoloskee Bridge to Broadway Avenue: Construction project: Crews will construct sidewalk on the east side of Copeland Avenue from Chokoloskee Bridge to Broadway Avenue. Crews will install temporary signalization within the project.
Motorists should expect intermittent lane closures during daytime hours from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. with possible flagging operations throughout the duration of the project.
Motorists should use caution as crews work near the roadway. The expected project completion is early 2024.
US 41 From East of Whistler’s Cove Boulevard to West of Collier Boulevard: Construction project: Crews will be working on widening areas, curb construction, and installation of permanent signs throughout project limits.
Motorists should expect overnight lane closures from Sunday, March 3, through Wednesday, March 6, 2024. Crews will be working in both directions on final layer of asphalt and final striping.
Motorists should use caution as crews work near the roadway.
US 41 from Immokalee Road to Wiggens Pass: Construction Project: Crews will be working in the southbound direction on US 41 from Immokalee Road to Wiggens Pass installing a turn lane. Motorists should expect intermittent lane closures during the nighttime/overnight hours from February 5 to May 5, 2024.
Please use caution when traveling in the area.
SR 45 from Trail Terrace Drive to Michigan Avenue: Maintenance project:
Driveway installation and turn lane median realignment is scheduled to start Monday, March 18, through Monday, April 29, 2024. Temporary lane closures during the nighttime/overnight hours between 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. on US 41 northbound as crews work in the roadway.
Motorists should expect slow-moving traffic while traveling in the area.
DESOTO COUNTY
SR 70 from Peace River to Southeast Baker Street: Construction project: Crews will reconstruct approximately 3.4 miles of SR 70 within the City of Arcadia, add new drainage facilities, add new and relocate sanitary and watermain utilities, install new traffic signals, reconstruct sidewalks, and add street lighting in various locations. During construction there will be lane closure on SR 70. Temporary pedestrian pathways will be installed for pedestrians during construction while sidewalks are under construction and detours will be in place during construction, while crews work on side roads; please follow signage and use caution in these areas.
Motorists should expect lane closures on westbound and eastbound SR 70 from Baker Street to the apex of eastbound and westbound SR 70.
Robert Ave at eastbound SR 70 is closed. A detour is in place at Luther Avenue. Please follow detour signs and allow extra travel time.
Motorists should expect nighttime lane closures on SR 70 WB of the Peace River and east of US 17, while crews work on utilities.
Estimated completion is summer 2026.
SR 70 from Manatee County line to CR 661: Construction project: Crews will resurface SR 70 from the Manatee County line to CR 661, widen turn lanes and road shoulders, regrade ditches and improve drainage, and perform full depth roadway reconstruction at various locations. During construction the speed limit has been reduced to 50 mph and there will be periodic lane closures on SR 70 from the Manatee County line to CR 661.
Motorists should expect intermittent shoulder closures along SR 70 throughout the project.
Motorists should expect lane closures on SR 70 from Manatee County line to County Road 661 throughout the project.
Please use caution in the area and watch for workers in the construction zone. Estimated completion is summer 2024.
US 17 (SR 35 NB) from north of CR 761 to south of Senate Street: Permit project: From January 16 to February 19, there will be a shoulder closure while a contractor upgrades an existing driveway. Please use caution in this area and watch for workers and equipment on the shoulder of the roadway.
GLADES COUNTY
US 27 from Fisheating Creek to the Highlands County line: Construction project: Crews will be milling and resurfacing US 27 form Fisheating Creek to the Highlands County line. Other improvements include widening, guardrail, and signing and pavement markings. The bridge over Fisheating Creek will be repaired/rehabilitated including pile jacketing and spall repairs. During construction daytime lane closures may occur on US 27.
Motorists should expect daytime and nighttime intermittent lane closures on US 27 throughout the project limits until project completion.
Please use caution in the construction zone and watch for workers in the work zone. Estimated completion is spring 2024.
SR 78 from US 27 to Okeechobee County Line: Maintenance project: Crews will be reworking and sodding shoulder on SR 78 from US 27 to Okeechobee County Line. No lane closures are expected but crews will be working near the travel lane. Please use caution in the area and watch for workers in the work zone. The expected project completion is February 2024.
HARDEE COUNTY
SR 64 from Main Street to Spruce Street: Construction project: Crews will resurface SR 64 from Main Street to Spruce Street, improve drainage and cross slope correction, construct sidewalks on both sides of SR 64 in various locations, and install guardrail, signing, and pavement markings. During construction motorists should expect the possibility of daytime and nighttime lane closures on SR 64 from Main Street to Spruce Street. Please use caution in the area and watch for workers in the work zone.
Eastbound and westbound SR 64 lane closures/flagging operations continue from Main Street to Florida Avenue from March 4 through March 8, 2024.
Eastbound SR 64 lane closures/flagging operations continue at Whippoorwill Road from March 4 through March 8, 2024.
Anticipated completion is early 2024.
US 17 (SR 35 NB) from Bay Street to Palmetto Street: Permit project: lane and sidewalk closures with law enforcement at night while contractor removes and installs poles on the east side of US 17. Please use caution in this area and watch for workers and equipment during overnight hours.
SR 64 East from Delaney Road to Broadus Williams Road: Maintenance project: lane closure of westbound SR 64 from Delaney Road to Broadus Williams Road for approximately 1100 feet from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Please be patient and use caution while traveling through this area.
1624 SR 64 East two miles west to Schoolhouse Road: Maintenance project: alternating single lane closures eastbound and westbound on SR 64 East from 1624 SR 64 East two miles west to Schoolhouse Road on Tuesday, March 5 through Wednesday, March 6, 2024. Crews will be blading and removing high shoulders along the route from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Please be patient and use caution while traveling through this area.
HENDRY COUNTY
US 27 Sidewalks in Clewiston at various locations and from Royal Palm Avenue and Ponce De Leon Avenue: Construction project: Crews will be adding sidewalks along the north and south side of US 27, the east side of San Luiz Avenue, the west side of Berner Road, and on US 27 extending north along Ponce De Leon Avenue and Royal Palm Avenue to Balboa Plaza. Additional work includes drainage improvements and resurfacing the intersection between US 27 and Berner Road, side streets, and turnouts. During sidewalk construction, pedestrian detours will be in place; please follow signage. During construction there may be lane closures on Berner Road, San Luiz Avenue, Royal Palm Avenue, and Ponce DeLeon Avenue. Please use caution and watch for crews working in the work zone.
Motorists should expect San Luiz Avenue to be closed through February with nighttime paving through the end of February.
US 27 from Palm Beach County line to east of San Diego Street: Construction project: Crews will be resurfacing US 27 from the Palm Beach County line to east of San Diego Street, widening and paving road shoulders along medians, making drainage improvements and cross slope corrections, replacing guardrail, reconstructing ADA ramps to ensure compliance, and install signing and pavement markings. During construction there will be lane closures on US 27 from the Palm Beach County line to east of San Diego Street. Please use caution in the area and watch for workers in the work zones.
Motorists should expect periodic lane closures on US 27 southbound and northbound for paving activities.
Estimated completion is early 2024.
HIGHLANDS COUNTY
US 27 from Glades County line to Polk County line: Maintenance contract project: Crews will be mowing and picking up litter along US 27 northbound and southbound from the Glades County line to the Polk County line. Please watch for workers in the work zone and use caution in the area.
US 27 from south of SR 70 to north of SR 70: Construction project: Intersection improvements. Crews will be reconstructing the intersection with concrete pavement, resurfacing SR 70 and US 27 near the intersection, shoulder work, drainage improvements, signalization, and lighting, and signing and pavement markings.
Motorists should expect daytime and nighttime intermittent lane closures on US 27 and SR 70 near the intersection.
The driveways for Circle K and the BP Station will be impacted while crews place concrete at the intersection. Motorists will need to access Circle K from SR 70 and BP from US 27. The Circle K driveway off US 27 will be utilized as an Exit Only and the BP driveway off SR 70 will be utilized as an Exit Only.
Motorists can expect partial closures of the BP driveways on SR 70 and US 27 for concrete pours.
Motorists can expect nighttime lane closures on US 27 eastbound March 4, 2024.
Motorists can expect a nighttime traffic shift on US 27 northbound and southbound on March 10, 2024.
Estimated completion is winter 2024.
US 27 at Lakeshore Mall entrance: The right turn lane off US 27 to the Lakeshore Mall is closed; please use alternate entrances.
US 27 between Whisper Circle and Flare Road: Utility permit project: This is a pole replacement project. Watch for workers close to and in the roadway. There are shoulder closures and right turn lane closures. There may be intermittent travel lane closures with this utility work.
US 98 from east of CR 621 to the Okeechobee County line: Construction project: Crews will resurface US 98 from east of CR 621 to the Okeechobee County line, reconstruct US 98 in various areas, widen shoulders, replace guardrail, and install signing and pavement markings. During construction there may be daytime and nighttime lane closures and traffic will be reduced to one lane in various areas; temporary signals will be installed to guide motorists. Please use caution in the area and watch for workers in the work zones.
Motorists should expect intermittent daytime lane closures between Kissimmee River Bridge and approx. 0.7 miles south of CR 621 to install temporary barrier wall, attenuator pads, and temporary striping.
Motorists should expect a lane closure from approximately 500 feet north of the Istokpoga Canal to approximately 600 feet south of the Istokpoga Canal. There will be a temporary traffic signal in place to direct traffic in this area.
Northbound and Southbound traffic will shift onto a newly constructed detour. Both lanes will shift to the east for reconstruction of the existing roadway.
Anticipated completion is summer 2024.
SR 17 Sebring Circle and parts of N Ridgewood and S Ridgewood Drive: Permit Project: Crews from HGTV will be working on various buildings around the Circle. There will be renovations requiring the use of the sidewalk and parking spaces off and on from now until May 2024. Please watch for workers in the work zone and use caution in the area.
CR 17 from Memorial Drive to North Forest Avenue: Maintenance permit project: Crews will be adding aerial lines and underground utilities along Main Street (SR 17) in Avon Park. There will be a lane closure in this area. Please watch for workers in the work zone and use caution in the area.
East Main Street from North Lake Avenue to South Lake Avenue to West Pleasant Street to Jim Rogers Avenue back to East Main Street: Special use permit: The City of Avon Park is hosting the Annual LC5 Foundation 5K run. Motorists should expect road closures on East Main Street from Northlake Avenue to South Lake Avenue to West Pleasant Street to Jim Rogers Avenue back to East Main Street on Saturday, January 20, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Please follow detour and use caution in the area.
East Main Street from North Lake Avenue to South Lake Avenue to West Pleasant Street to Jim Rogers Avenue back to East Main Street: Special use permit: The City of Avon Park is hosting the Annual LC5 Foundation 5K run. Motorists should expect road closures on East Main Street from North Lake Avenue to South Lake Avenue to West Pleasant Street to Jim Rogers Avenue back to East Main Street. Please follow detours and use caution in the area.
LEE COUNTY
Pine Island Road Causeway and Bridge Permanent Repairs: Construction project: As part of the Emergency Restoration of the Pine Island Road Causeway and Bridge, crews will be working in the project boundaries along CR 78 Pine Island Road from west of Little Pine Island Bridge (Bridge No. 120111) to West of Shoreview Drive.
CONTINUED: Motorists can expect traffic shifts and flagging operations as crews continue work on underground utility installation on the north side of the causeway.
Please be alerted to construction equipment in the construction zone. To maintain safety, motorists should find alternate parking areas.
Motorists can expect occasional delays due to flagging operations for delivery/removal of materials, transfer of equipment.
Crews are maintaining two-lane traffic on causeway.
Pedestrians and bicyclists are not permitted within the construction zone.
Please use caution and watch for workers and construction vehicles entering and exiting the roadway.
Noise from construction equipment in the area is to be expected.
Please be patient and plan for additional travel time as it may be slower than usual in the area.

Sanibel Causeway Emergency Restoration: Crews have moved traffic to the permanent lanes on the Sanibel Causeway. The causeway islands surrounding the temporary roadway are an active work zone and are currently closed for public access, including from the water.
Motorists should expect one lane of eastbound travel to continue from the toll plaza to Port Comfort Road on the south (beach) side of McGregor Boulevard. The shoulder (south/beach side) remains FULLY CLOSED TO ACCESS. This closure is necessary for crew to install underground devices (marine mattresses) to reinforce the shoreline. Work activities include clearing vegetation and earthwork. This closure is expected to be in place through April 2024.
Crews are installing underground devices (marine mattresses) to reinforce the shoreline, sea wall, and retaining wall along the Causeway.
Crews continue earthwork and debris removal along the causeway islands. Please expect construction equipment periodically entering/leaving the travel lanes when necessary. The contractor is limiting this interruption during peak hours.
The westbound merge location is now west of the toll plaza. Motorists are urged to use caution and obey the 20 MPH speed limit. Construction vehicles and equipment continue to enter/exit the staging area near this location.
Many oversized vehicles are crossing the causeway to assist with recovery efforts on the island. Please be patient as travel may be slower than usual. Bicyclists are encouraged to utilize another mode of transportation to travel the causeway and pedestrians are not permitted on the Sanibel Causeway.
MOTORISTS ARE REMINDED TO OBEY THE POSTED SPEED LIMIT OF 20 MPH.
I-75 at Colonial Boulevard (mile marker 136): Construction project: Crews begin construction on the I-75 at Colonial Boulevard Diverging Diamond Interchange (DDI) Project. Other improvements along Colonial Boulevard include a Continuous Flow Intersection (CFI) at the intersection of Six Mile Cypress Parkway/Ortiz Avenue and a Superstreet intersection at the Colonial Boulevard/Forum Boulevard intersection. I-75 will also be widened to provide an auxiliary lane in each direction from Colonial Boulevard to SR 82/Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard. The off-ramps at Colonial Boulevard DDI and the northbound off-ramps at SR 82 will have emergency stopping sites.
Motorists should expect intermittent lane closures on I-75 and the on and off ramps at SR 884/Colonial Boulevard during nighttime/overnight hours from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. through the duration of construction.
Motorists should expect intermittent lane closures on SR 884/Colonial Boulevard during the nighttime/overnight hours from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. through the duration of the construction.
Drivers should exercise caution and be aware of construction vehicles entering and exiting the roadway throughout the duration of the project. The expected completion date is mid-2024.
SR 867/McGregor Boulevard from Cypress Lake Drive to Edinburgh Drive:
Construction Project: FDOT crews will be providing roadway median improvements from Cypress Lake Drive to Edinburgh Drive to enhance safety for drivers when traveling on SR 867.
Motorists should expect intermittent daytime lane closures throughout the duration of the project.
Please proceed with caution as crews work on the roadway.
US 41 from South of Hickory Drive to Emerson Square Boulevard: Construction project: Crews are resurfacing and widening the roadway along with reconstructing medians at Hickory Drive, San Carlos Boulevard, Shadow Creek Boulevard, and Harborage Drive.
Motorists should expect overnight/nighttime lane closures on Thursday, February 29, with the possible extension through Sunday, March 3, 2024.
The median opening on US 41 at Emerson Square Boulevard is closed for construction.
The median opening on US 41 at San Carlos Boulevard is closed for construction.
The median opening on US 41 at Harborage Drive/Babcock Road is closed for construction.
The median opening on US 41 at Shadow Creek Boulevard is closed for construction.
Daytime activities will include signalization work at San Carlos Boulevard and miscellaneous shoulder closures for turn lane widening and driveway reconstruction throughout the project limits.
SR 884 (Colonial Boulevard) and Fowler Street: Construction project: Crews are constructing turn lanes, drainage upgrades, signalization upgrades and milling and resurfacing at the intersection of Colonial Boulevard and Fowler Street.
Motorists should anticipate right turn lane closures onto westbound SR 884 (Colonial Boulevard) when traveling southbound on Fowler Street.
Motorists should anticipate right turn lane closures onto eastbound SR 884 (Colonial Boulevard) when traveling northbound on Fowler Street.
Three lanes on SR 884 (Colonial Boulevard) headed eastbound will be reduced to two lanes when approaching Fowler Street.
Motorists should expect intermittent nighttime/overnight lane closures as crews work on signalization of the intersection.
The expected project completion is mid-2024.
US 41 and Crystal Drive Intersection: Construction project: Anticipated start date for intersection improvements are scheduled to begin March 3, 2024. Message boards have been placed within project limits. Motorists should be aware of upcoming work to improve traffic flow and reduce the number of crashes.
US 41 over Caloosahatchee River Bridge Pedestrian Improvements: Design-Build Project: Crews will construct a sidewalk along the west side of US 41 from First Street in Fort Myers to North Key Drive in North Fort Myers. This project is intended to improve pedestrian safety by modifying the existing bridges to accommodate a sidewalk on the west side of the southbound bridge. This will be accomplished by installing new outside traffic railings, connecting the two bridge decks in the center, and restriping the lanes. A new single median barrier will separate the northbound and southbound traffic.
Motorists should expect intermittent nighttime lane closures for guardrail installation.

I-75 at US 301 Interchange (Exit 224): Construction project: Project will widen the I-75 from SR 64 to the Manatee River, reconfigure the I-75/US 301 interchange from a partial cloverleaf interchange to a tight diamond configuration, construct new bridges will be constructed over the Manatee River for a northbound exit ramp and a southbound entrance ramp, and US 301 improvements. This week, crews will work on I-75 paving; drainage, utility, and sidewalk work on US 301; and, beam installation, and decking for the construction of the new bridges over the Manatee River.
Motorists should expect double lane closures on I-75 northbound during nighttime/overnight hours from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. through the duration of the construction; double closures on I-75 southbound during the nighttime/overnight hours from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. through the duration of the construction.

US 301 from 25th Court East to 13th Avenue East: Construction project: Crews have begun a 7.6-mile improvements project consisting of milling and resurfacing the roadway, widening in areas, base work, curb and gutter, sidewalk, guardrail, drainage improvements, bridge expansion joints, signalization, lighting, and signing and pavement marking.
Motorists should expect shoulder closures including pedestrian access restrictions along the US 301 corridor northbound and southbound between 25th Court East and Whitfield Avenue. Alternate pedestrian routes will be clearly posted. To maintain safety, pedestrians should follow the posted detour signage.
Beginning on Sunday, March 10, motorists can expect single-lane closures on the northbound and southbound lanes of US 301 from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. Nighttime work will continue from Sunday nights through Friday mornings for the next several weeks.
Motorists can expect right-turn lane closures at the intersections of US 301 and Tallevast Road to 9th Avenue East from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.

SR 70 from Lorraine Road to Bourneside Boulevard, Bradenton: Construction project: This project includes widening SR 70 from Lorraine Road to Bourneside Boulevard from a two-lane undivided roadway to a four-lane or six-lane divided roadway, depending on the location, construction of roundabouts on SR 70 at Uihlein Road, Del Webb Boulevard, and Bourneside Boulevard, intersection improvements at the existing signalized intersection of Greenbrook Boulevard and Lorraine Road, construction of four bridges over Braden River crossings, new drainage system, construction 10-foot shared use paths, street lighting, and landscaping, and installation of new fiber optic cable connecting the two signalized intersections to Manatee County’s regional Advanced Traffic Management System (ATMS).
This week, crews will be clearing existing vegetation between Uihlein Road and Bourneside Boulevard on the south side of SR 70 and excavating the Pond area on the southeast corner of Bourneside Boulevard and SR 70. Material will be hauled to the south side of SR 70 east of Bourneside Boulevard and placed as roadway fill. All work will be off the roadway with no planned lane closures. Please use caution and watch for trucks and construction vehicles entering or exiting the work zone by way of the eastbound SR 70 shoulder. Work will occur Monday through Saturday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Please use caution and be aware of workers and flaggers in the area.
SR 70 and Lockwood Ridge Road: Permit project: Through the end of May, motorists can expect an intermittent westbound left turn lane closure, within the duel left turn lanes. Manatee County is constructing right turn lanes on Lockwood Ridge Road. Please use caution in the area.
SR 70 (53rd Avenue Between US 301 and US 41): Maintenance: Crews will be performing pipe cleaning and mapping located on SR 70 (53rd Avenue) between US 41 and US 301. Motorists can expect alternating lane closures both east and westbound. Work starts March 3, and runs through March 29, 2024, from 7 p.m. until 5 a.m.
SR 70 (Between CR 675 and 41000 SR 70): Maintenance Contractor will be performing asphalt repairs located on SR 70 between CR 675 and 41000 SR 70. Motorists can expect alternating lane closures east and westbound starting March 5through March 8, 2024, from 7 a.m. until 5 p.m.
SR 64 from 43rd Street West to 15th Street East and from 10th Street West to 10th Street East: Construction project: Construction is underway for the 1.7-mile resurfacing project through the City of Bradenton. Completion is slated for spring 2024.
Overnight paving starts March14, from 10th to 10th, and requires intermittent lane closures.

I-4 at CSX Railroad Bridge approximately 1200 feet west of Kathleen Road (Exit 31): Construction project: This project includes replacing the existing 250-foot bridge with two new 400-foot bridges to provide for CSX double tracking and will accommodate future expansion of I-4. This week the contractor will be working off the roadway with no planned lane closures.
US 98 from SR 60 to Crystal Lake Road: Maintenance projects: Watch for intermittent lane closures and workers close to the road as crews fill potholes and make asphalt repairs. Use caution and be prepared to merge or stop.
US 98 at Lyle Parkway: Maintenance project: The turn lanes from US 98 to Lyle Parkway will be closed while crews install a quick curb system. Motorists may turn onto Lyle Parkway from the travel lanes. Use caution and watch for workers close to the road.
US 98 (East Broadway Avenue) from Church Street to the Fort Meade Recreation Area: Construction project: This project includes bridge construction and demolition, milling and resurfacing, pedestrian, and drainage improvements, signing and pavement markings, and lighting improvements. Crews will be taking delivery of materials, driving production piles, pouring concrete closure pours for pier caps, grouting, working on drainage, pouring new curb and gutter, and building the temporary trestle bridge. Motorists should expect intermittent lane closures from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
US 98 from Mount Zion Road to east of Old Stokes Road and from Keller Road to west of Ridge Road: Construction project: Project improvements include removing the old asphalt and resurfacing, drainage and shoulder improvements, tree removal and guardrail repairs. This week the contractor will continue grading and placing sod on the shoulders along US 98 during the day. Watch for daytime lane closures with flaggers directing traffic. US 92 from West of Jersey Road to West of SR 555 (US 17): Construction project: Project improvements include milling & resurfacing, constructing inside paved shoulders in the median, widening existing right-turn lanes to provide keyhole bicycle lanes, minor drainage improvements, and signal and lighting improvements at the Lynchburg Road intersection. This week the contractor will be installing drainage structures, pipe, and widening throughout the project. Watch for daytime lane closures and be prepared to merge.
US 92 (West Memorial Boulevard) from the I-4 overpass to North Wabash Avenue, then from North Eastside Drive to Recker Highway, then from Recker Highway to 540/Winter Lake Road: Maintenance contracts project: Watch for lane closure in both directions from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. through March 24, as the contractor applies thermoplastic striping during the night. Use caution and watch for workers close to the road.
US 27 at SR 60 Interchange: Construction project: Crews will replace the bridges carrying SR 60 over US 27 and reconstruct the interchange from a partial cloverleaf design to a Single Point Urban Interchange. Other improvements include widening the roadways from four lanes to six 11-foot lanes, bicycle lanes, curb and gutter, a closed drainage system, and six-foot sidewalks. Crews will construct an urban frontage road in the southwest quadrant along SR 60 for access to local businesses. The project also includes construction of a noise wall along SR 60 from South Miami Street to west of Sharp Street, resurfacing Central Avenue from west of US 27 to Miami Street, installing signals, lighting, signage and pavement markings on US 27 and SR 60. Daytime and nighttime lane closures will occur on US 27 and SR 60 during construction.

SR 570 (Polk Parkway) from I-4 to Old Dixie Highway: Construction project: Florida’s Turnpike Enterprise is converting an 18-mile portion of Polk Parkway/SR 570 to electronic tolling between I-4 and Old Dixie Highway/CR 546 in Polk County. This project includes constructing three new toll gantries at the Western Mainline (milepost 8), Central Mainline (milepost 13), and SR 540 New Mainline (milepost 15.5), removing cash toll collections and replacing them with SunPass and TOLL-BY-PLATE and demolishing the existing Western and Central Mainline toll plazas. SR 540 (Cypress Gardens Boulevard) from east of US 17 to west of 1st Street: Construction project: Improvements under this Contract consist of resurfacing US 17, SR 540 and 1st Street, adding turn lanes, lengthening existing turn lanes, replacing the temporary traffic separators with a permanent concrete traffic separator on SR 540, improving crosswalk striping and adding pedestrian countdown signals, upgrading signal equipment and replacing streetlights with LED lights. Northbound 1st Street South at the intersection with SR 540 has been reduced to one lane and will remain that way as this is a permanent alignment. This week, crews will be clearing, excavating, installing stabilization and overhead cantilever, and installing signalization items along US17, SR 540, and 1st Street.

SR 37 from West Lemon Street to East Beacon Road: Maintenance: Crews will be conducting storm drain maintenance and desilting through April 2024. Expect nighttime/overnight temporary road closures along the corridor from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. and be prepared to merge or stop.
SR 17 at Hughes Road: Maintenance contracts project: Expect northbound daytime lane closures at Hughes Road from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. through Friday, March 15, as crews begin installing drainage structures. Use caution and be prepared to merge or stop.
SARASOTA COUNTY
I-75 at SR 72/Clark Road (Exit 205): Construction project: Project improvements include reconstructing the existing interchange to a Diverging Diamond Interchange (DDI), adding auxiliary lane on I-75 northbound from SR 72 to Bee Ridge Road, widen I-75 southbound from Proctor Road to SR 72, and improvements on Clark Road. This week, crews will work on the ramps, drainage, retaining walls, and paving.
On Thursday, March 7, at 12 a.m. to Friday, March 8, at 2 a.m., crews will CLOSE I-75 southbound between Bee Ridge Road (Exit 207) and Clark Road (Exit 205). All I-75 southbound drivers will exit at Bee Ridge Road (Exit 207) and continue on Bee Ridge Road to a left onto Honore Avenue to a left onto Clark Road to I-75 southbound.
Motorists should expect single lane closures on I-75 during nighttime/overnight hours from 7 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. bound through the duration of the construction.
Motorists should expect double lane closures on I-75 during nighttime/overnight hours from 10 p.m. to 4:30 a.m. through the duration of the construction.
Motorists should expect lane closures on SR 72 during nighttime/overnight hours from 8 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. through the duration of the construction.
Motorists should expect lane shifts on I-75 and SR 72 through the duration of the construction.
Drivers should exercise caution and be aware of construction vehicles entering and exiting the interstate through the duration of the construction.
Variable message signs will be in place to alert drivers that work is underway. Estimated completion is mid-2024.
US 41 and Laurel Road: Permit project: FPL will be installing new power poles on the outside northbound / southbound lanes through Friday, March 8, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Please use caution and watch for workers and traffic changes.
US 41 from North of Port Commons from North of Port Commons to State College of Florida: Construction project: Project improvements include milling and resurfacing, guardrail, drainage improvements, signing and pavement markings, and signalization improvements. Expected completion is fall 2024.
Daytime Activities:
Install barrier walls for upcoming lane shifts and close median openings for roadway crossover reconstruction.
Median openings at Myakka Drive, Riverwalk Drive, Palm Harbor Drive, Boardwalk, Blackburn Boulevard, Ortega Place, De Miranda Avenue, Eager Street and Hoffman Street will be closed for reconstruction work.
Hoffman Street crossover will be removed and remain permanently closed.
Motorists will be able to turn right only onto US 41 at these locations.
Daytime lane closures Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Nighttime Activities:
Curb removal and turn lane reconstruction between Tuscola Boulevard and Ortiz Boulevard.
Nighttime lane closures Sunday through Thursday from 8 p.m. to 7 a.m.
Motorists should use caution when making U-turns and be aware of workers in the area.
US 41 from Caribbean Drive to Stickney Point: Construction: Construction on the next phase along a 1.4-mile area of US 41 from Caribbean Drive to Stickney Point Road is actively underway. Work consists of implementing safety improvements along the corridor including resurfacing, lighting and signalization, median improvements, shoulder reconstruction, improved sidewalks, improved bicycle lanes, as well as needed infrastructure improvements to drainage, curb and gutter.
At the left turn from US 41 North turning onto SR 72 at Stickney Point towards Siesta Key, the lane width will be reduced. Please use caution as drivers acclimate.
Crews continue to work on drainage and sidewalk.
Medians: crews are working in the median throughout the project limits. Motorists can expect limited access.
From Caribbean Drive to Gulf Gate Road: Temporary lane closures will be necessary to maintain safety while work in the median is completed.
US 41 at Wellen Park Villages D&E Roundabouts: Permit project: Construction of two roundabouts is underway on US 41. Lane closures are required. Consider alternate routes or add additional travel time during peak hours.
Village E at US 41 and Brimstone northbound recently implemented a traffic shift. This will move both lanes of traffic to the new pavement and partial roundabout.
Please use caution in the area as motorists adapt.
SR 72 Clark Road and the Legacy Trail: Construction Project: Crews have begun constructing two new pedestrian bridges and intersection improvements along the Legacy Trail in Sarasota County. Expect noise from construction equipment, large trucks, and back-up alarms. Occasional nighttime shoulder and/or lane closures during construction to install beams will also be needed. Expected completion is winter 2024/2025. Occasional flagging operations will be needed. Use caution in the area as large vehicles enter/ exit the roadway.

SR 776 at the Northeast Corner of Manasota Beach Road: Permit project: Starting Monday, February 26, and going through the end of May, Sarasota County will be constructing intersection improvements, including a right turn lane and signalization. From 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., motorists can expect an intermittent outside northbound lane closure on SR 776. Please use caution in the area.
SR 777 River Road from I-75 to US 41: Construction project: Motorists can expect pond excavation near Venice Avenue and just north of Rambler’s Rest RV Park on the northbound roadway. Embankment activities continue on the southbound roadway from US 41 to Stoney Creek Boulevard. Drainage structures, pipe, curb and gutter, and gravity wall installations will also continue throughout the project. Signal, ITS, and lighting work is also on-going throughout the project. Trucks will be crossing the road at various locations using intermittent flagging operations.
SR 789 between Longboat Key Club Drive to Harbourside Drive: Permit project: Town of Longboat Key is relocating existing underground utilities and installing sewer line while a new development will be constructing right and left turn lanes and constructing driveways, sidewalk, and drainage. Motorists can expect alternating intermittent northbound / southbound lane closures through March from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Please use caution in the area.
SR 789 from Longboat Club Road to SR 64: Construction project: Crews will be placing safety enhancements through the corridor. Temporary lane shifts or closures will be needed so motorists should use caution.
SR 681 from I-75 to US 41: Construction project: The ongoing resurfacing project will improve drainage, provide a cross-slope correction for leveling and comfort, new guardrail, updated signing and marking, install intelligent transportation equipment and signalization. Paving on the project has started so motorists should expect temporary lane closures for the duration of the project.
Crews will have intermittent lane closures from SR 681 at I-75, from Honore Avenue up to US 41.
On March 4 and 5, the southbound SR 681 ramp will have temporary overnight lane closures from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. while wrong way driver detection systems are installed. Consider alternate access points. Detour to Laurel Road.
Crews will continue to pave the roadway throughout the project limits:
Monday: paving crossover and patching in guardrail post holes
Tuesday: southbound, outside lane to Legacy Trail Bridge
Wednesday: from Legacy Trail Bridge to 681 Ramp B Bridge
Thursday: from 681 Ramp B Bridge to end and begin Ramp A Northbound.
Friday: continue northbound and/or inside SB lane.
Motorists should anticipate slower moving traffic or consider an alternate route.
Noise from construction equipment should be anticipated for the duration.
