Virginia L. Bowers, 96, of North Fort Myers, FL died on August 29, 2011 at the Consulate Health Center. She was born on April 3, 1915 in Jasper County, MO, a child of Clifford and Nancy (Johnson) Shumate. A resident of North Fort Myers since 2003, she previously lived in Sedalia, MO and was a member of the Baptist Church.
She was the wife of the late E. C. Bowers who died in 2006 after 73 years of marriage, she was predeceased by her children, Phyllis G. Stephens, Data Lavon Lannigan and Kenneth Eugene Bowers.
She is survived by her daughter, Carol J. Rucker of North Fort Myers, FL, 13 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, her brother, Richard Shumate of Republic, WA and her sister, Eunice James of Sacramento, CA.
