Robert Edward Flynn Jr., 53, of North Fort Myers died Monday, March 19, 2012, at Hope Hospice, Cape Coral. He was born July 21, 1958, in Philadelphia, Pa,, a son of Robert Edward and Patricia Ann (Troy) Flynn Sr.
His family moved to the Fort Myers area when he was 3 years old and he attended Edgewood Elementary School, Lee Middle School and North Fort Myers High School. He was a plumber and worked in the local area for many years.
He had lived in North Fort Myers for the past 28 years. He was known for great sense of humor and loved to fish and spend time in the mountains.
He is survived by his children, Brian Edward Flynn of Cape Coral, Timothy Robert Flynn of Lehigh Acres and Kelli Ann Flynn of Lehigh Acres; three grandchildren; his sister, Kathleen Marie Flynn of Cape Coral; his brother, William Richard Flynn of Cape Coral; his half brother, Robert E. Flynn Jr. of Philadelphia; his father, Robert E. Flynn Sr. of Philadelphia; his stepfather, Curtis Batchelder of Cape Coral; and his nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his mother, Patricia A. Batchelder, who died in December 2009.

He spent his working career as a computer operator for the Ruppert Knickerbocker Brewery in New York, National Maritime Union in New York, Chris Craft in Pompano, Fla., and Eastern Airlines in Miami. Hel loved Shakespeare, classical music, boating, fencing, handball, high-bar gymnastics. He also belonged to the Kodokan Judo Club of Cape Coral.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Roy S. Barker; and sisters, Doris Soar and Ruth Sarubbi, all of New York.
He is survived by his loving family, wife of 42 years, Julie Baker; son, Neil “Scott” (Jen) of Alva, Fla.; daughter, Kerry Ellen (Sean) Hannaford of Mt. Dora, Fla.; sister, Joan Guiler of Cape Cod, Mass.; brothers-in-law; Pete (Sue) Weed of Port St. Lucie, Fla., and Steven Weed of London, Ontario, Canada; nieces and nephews, David (Judy) Guiler, Tom (Ciera) Guiler, Beth (Tim) O’Connell, Cindy Dorrance, John Weed and Katherine Weed; four great-nieces and three great-nephews.
A memorial service with military honors was held at 3 p.m., Sunday, March 25, at National Cremation & Burial Society, 3453 Hancock Bridge Parkway, North Fort Myers.
