Samuel Robert Garcia

Samuel Robert Garcia, 20, of Fort Myers, passed away Friday, July 11, 2014, at H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center of Tampa. He was a 2012 graduate of Estero High School where he excelled as an athlete. As a wrestling “champion,” he represented Estero at several Florida high school state championship meets. He was strong and fast and was known for his “lightning in a bottle” method of success. He played football from the age of 6 through high school and played multiple positions on both offense and defense. He shared his passion for the game with the youth of the area by working as a coach to “The Mustangs” youth football team. His skills, abilities and competitiveness also transferred to lacrosse, baseball and taekwondo.

He consistently wore and shared his broad smile with all he met and conveyed an air of respect and courtesy to many. Most of all, he dearly loved his son, Brantley. He was a devoted and compassionate father who excelled in everything he set his mind to. He will be missed greatly.

He was born July 11, 1994, in Fort Myers. He was preceded in death by his father, Sam Garcia.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his beloved son, Brantley Garcia; mother, Pamela Porthouse, and stepfather, Chris Porthouse; stepfather, Jeff Goodridge; half-sister, Jennifer DeVault; brother-in-law, Adam DeVault; sister, Hayley Garcia; step-sisters, Destiny Goodridge and Riley Porthouse; and two step-brothers, Corbin and Brody Porthouse. He also leaves nieces, Tessa and Grace; grandparents, Robert and Juanita Bills and Nancy and Steve Finlay; step-grandparents, Betty Meier, Marilyn Porthouse, Raymond Meier and Joe Porthouse; great-grandmother ,Helen Townsend; great-grandfather, Bob Bills; and great-grandmother, Elba Rivera. He leaves two aunts, Yvette and Lissette; uncle, Steven; and cousins, Brianna, Brian, Kayla, Alyssa and Holly; and his great aunt, Kathy.

A visitation was held Friday, July 18, at Fort Myers Memorial Funeral Home 1589 Colonial Blvd., Fort Myers. Funeral services were Saturday, July 19, at First Assembly of God Church, 4701 Summerlin Road, Fort Myers. Burial immediately followed in Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Fort Myers.
