From your doctor
To the editor:
The older we get the more drugs our doctors are prescribing to cure our ills.
At age 75 I need all the help I can get to stay well. The problem comes, when you spend a large amount of money for a month’s supply. If you are going to have an adverse reaction to the new medicine, it will usually happen within two to three days. So here I am with 60 tablets. I was to take two per day. Well, after the second pill my vision was blurred, I had diarrhea, and was not able to keep any food down.
After paying about $150 I now have 58 tablets, that the pharmacy will not take back.
I would think, that the doctor is talking to the detail people about the drugs they are prescribing. The drug company could supply enough samples for three days to see if the patient can tolerate them. Then and only then would the doctor write a full prescription.
The drug companies are having a great time with us spending all kinds of money so they can make all the profit.
Furthermore, the insurance will not credit you for unused drugs.
This is just one example why people are leery about the health care system being offered.
The people on the hill get their insurance paid for. Hence they don’t care what they are voting for, as long as their health care remains untouched. They don’t have to struggle to make ends meet. They just make the rules, and we must follow.
